SanDisk 16GB Class 4 SD/Micro SD Card $10 @ Australia Post

101

Similar to the deal posted here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/202094 however this deal is double the storage for double the price on a lower class card. This would be good for a spare for your phone or camera.

  • Similar? It looks like a different card to me.

    • It is a different card but it is similar pricing per GB :) Should have clarified that more sorry

  • Higher Class 32GB SD cards for $35

    • WHAT! 4x the storage of the other deal but 7x the price!!!! I'd rather just glue 4 8GB microsd cards together!

And yes I know that won't work T.T

      • hahaha if only it could! SanDisk would be onto you!!

  • +5

Unfortunately these cards are only class 4. Too slow for some applications. Need to be class 10 otherwise not that good of a deal :(

    • +2

I am using the MicroSD card for my phone and it works fine. They have higher class SD cards but only in 32GB for $35

    • Would class 4 be okay for a phone?

      • It works perfectly on my phone :)

      • fine for listening to music and stuff. if you record long videos it'll just take longer to write them to the card

      • Yes.

    • You could have bought a faster class 10 Samsung EVO 16GB microSD card from this reputable local eBay seller for $9.95: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-8GB-16GB-32GB-64GB-128GB-…

      • +2

Yes, but there are better buys of that item on eBay, I know as I have just been searching for them.
Also, I refuse to give patronage to sellers who skew the ebay search results with BS prices based on items you didn't search for i.e. search for Samsung EVO 32GB, results sorted by lowest price have all these clowns with $1 etc., but going into their listing you find it's not what you searched for.
Others gain inappropriate ranking by including many different brands/sizes and so you need to wade through the crap to get to the real bargains.

        • That's why you should just buy memory cards from reputable sellers like APUS, PCByte, Shopping Express, FutuIT.

        • +2

@edfoo: the last 3 you referenced I'm happy to buy from.
APUS uses those tactics, so will never see my $$$.
Checkout their listing you linked…headliner is $1.00 for the card adapter and that's how they skew their search ranking along with having multiple brands/ranges/sizes in the same listing hitting most eBay searches for flash cardsand artificially gaining a high position no matter which item you searched for.

  • same price at OW for the 8gb
cheaper at OW for the 32gb ultra $29

  • +3

$10 one is only a class 4 card. Slow as.

Samsung EVO 16GB Class 10 Micro SD cards are going for only under $10 delivered. Compared to that $10 card from Australia Post is poor value for money.

    • I use class 4 and only transfer of data takes a little longer, besides that, it works great for an extra storage system for my phone and camera :)

      • +1

I'm sure your phone and camera would thank you much better for using a fast Class 10 card as opposed to very slow Class 4. Samsung EVO Micro SD would rule over this slow Sandisk Class 4 card. Imagine trying to transfer 16GB of data through a slow Class 4 speed it would take a while. Class 4 is rated at only 4MB/s.

    • I mean the Samsung EVO Micro SD 16GB cards are going for under $10 delivered on ebay.

      • That's very true, unfortunately I did not see this when I purchased mine. Thank you however!

Seems like a few people who have little knowledge in memory cards (who don't even know about what a Class specification is) think this is a good deal and starting to recommend to other people. Better make it clear you all can get better and faster card than these old and slow Class 4 cards for similar price.

    • +1

      Hi!

I understand that these cards are old and are slower with transfer rate compared to the newer higher class cards but as a cinematographer and photographer I do not have any issues with these cards. The only problem is the slower offloading but it works well as a spare card I carry around in case my higher class cards run out of space.

Thank you for your comment though :)

      • +2

Of course I didn't say these Class 4 cards are unusable. I said earlier they are too slow for SOME applications, e.g. 1080p 30/60fps video recording in a GoPro and also in some car dashcams. For example I have a Samsung class 4 8Gb card which I tried to record video in this action cam Blackview Hero 2, it causes the camera to fail to boot up. When I switch to a class 10 Samsung EVO card, no problem.

I just want people to know they can get faster and better card for the same $10.

        • You raise very good points, thank you for you comment :)

      • What about photographers shooting burst mode and cinematographers recording 4k video?

        • Then they should get at least Sandisk Extreme or Samsung Pro.

        • For high power burst shots or 4K recording I think it would be better off using a higher class SD card, these would only really be good for extra phone storage or a spare for a camera :)

    • What about people with older phones/devices that don't support bigger than 16gB cards?

  • But MSY do both the microsd and sd for $9. Both class 10 Kingston.

  • How do you order delivered?

    • +1

The irony is, it seems Australia Post don't deliver them

  • +1

I know Auspost is closer, but MSY has Patriot branded 16GB Class 10 for $11 and 32GB for $20 - comes with free SD and USB adaptor too! http://www.msy.com.au/search?controller=search&orderby=posit…
