after my rant a few minutes ago about no write speeds:

    Read Speed Up to 95MB/s
    Write Speed

Fortunately thanks to amazon, write speed sequential appears to be around 40mb per sec.. the other benchmark results like with the other ones is woefully slow (which is probably why most of these cards other than the sandisk high end cards don't record nicely in a BMPCC camera)

    • +1

Did you read the review I linked to in the post? That states write speeds.

      • +1

Funny you mention it, after I posted I clicked on the link and have been reading it.

Would be nice if the write speed stats were included in the post (pretty please?).. Or am I just being too a**l?

        • +2

          "na"

        • Why do you want the write speeds in the post when you apparently didn't read it to start with?

        • @Diji1:

If a post starts with 'Lexar 64GB 95MB/s …' it must imply speed is an important factor, and while read speed is written, is write speed not as (if not more so) important? Does not matter if the card is 95Mb read if the write speed is say hypothetically 10Mb per sec?

My point being that given how important the write speed is for most people and the reason you would buy a fast card like this to begin with, I would like to see it listed (just as everyone likes to see the delivery charge) , rather than have to go to another site to obtain the information. There is also the risk of the information being for a previous generation or prior model and therefore it would be nice if the supplier provided basic speed information. for that specific card model as tested by them in house..

I admit it was slight laziness on my part not to click on the link to see the write speed, but I was so excited to see the post I rushed in my post without thinking. Then came to realize I've spent far too much money on SD cards the last month thanks to TA :)

The Samsung Pro is 90MB/s read 80MB/s write.
Can often be found for about this price, minus the card reader though.

  • Just checked amazon and its 50.90USD shipped to Western Sydney.

      Same price as this :)

    • +1

Same price I paid for it from Amazon exactly 12 months ago. Very happy with the card and reader.

Up vote because you are negotiating deals for ozbargain users now. Well done, TA. You are a clarse act :)

  • I just lost my Lexar 633x somewhere (with the USB reader - turned the house upside down hunting for it tonight. Good thing I checked on OzBargain. Thanks TA!

    • +6

      You left it here?

      • Not sure where I left it. But found another here :-)

  • How quick is delivery? Have people who ordered them from the last sale received them by now? I need to receive by Monday next week

    • +3

      Hi Adamiam,

Orders will be dispatch the next day.
Delivery within NSW will take 1-3 business days, other states will take 3-5 business days.

      Cheers
      Francesca

      • Oops, reply posted below. Bought! Thanks!

Thanks TA for all the nice memories :) ..

  • Thanks a lot Francesca. If you're shipping is as quick as your response, then I'm willing to give it a shot :) No disappointment if I miss it, great price for future use.

    Cheers

  • perfect in time for my gopro

  • +1

Haha omgsh. Will OzBargain and TA be in the next Oxford Dictionary update? Great work TA, thanks.

    • +1

TA's SD deals are almost becoming as regular as Eneloop deals :)

  • +6

    128gb one please!

    • +2

But maybe a selection of 128GB Micro SD. A cheap Class 10 option for those who don't need high-bandwidth, and a higher-speed option for the 4K'n GoProfessionals.

Aren't the samsung one only $30?

    • +1

You mean the Samsung one that are half the speed, doesn't come with the USB 3.0 card reader and are half the price of this? Yes, they was $30 during their deal.

      • Half the speed?

        The Samsung's 90mb/s, this one's 94mb/s… Hardly a difference to most users.

        The Samsung's US$30, this one's like $70.

Am I right or missing something? Cuz the Samsung seems like a much better proposition, even without the USB reader.

Disclaimer, I don't know shit about sd cards…

        • +1

Can you please link to the card you're talking about. You may be slightly confused. Thanks :)

        • -1

          @tightarse:

          Wow a reply from TA!

          Sure: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201835

          I am probably confused… :/

        • +2

          @inose:
The answer is quite simple. Your link is for an SD card (full size). This deal is for a MicroSD card :)

        • @tightarse:

Doh! Thanks for clearing that up!

        • +1

          @inose:

          Please join my support group

        • @inose: I thought financialwar was referring to TA's Jul 1 deal for the Samsung Evo 64GB Micro SD which is rated up to 48MB/s.

        • @Thrift:

The Evo 48MB/s rating is for the read speed. GoPro don't recommend the Evo (min 45MB/s write required).

I'm thinking we need two support groups. :-P

        • @muncan: Sure, but the Samsung EVO's indicated read speed is published so it served as a good differentiator for financialwar's indirect question of what the difference is between this Lexar and the Samsung EVO to justify the $39 price difference.

Also, inose's linked 64GB Samsung Pro SD card was US$35 from Amazon (~A$48), whereas the 64GB Samsung EVO Micro SD was A$30 from PC Byte.

  • Is this better than a Sandisk Extreme Pro?

    • No
I think the quality/speed rank is roughly,
Sandisk Extreme Pro > Samsung Pro > Lexar 633 > Sandisk Extreme > Samsung Evo > Sandisk Ultra

  • +1

+'ed for the awesome discount code. :)

  • Damn, I'd like to just buy the reader on it's own lol. Most of the USB 3.0 readers are big and chunky. There is a mini one on eBay but I don't know how much I trust its performance.

Maybe I should just buy a MicroSD RAID Card! lol.

  • What does everyone plan on using these microSD cards for?
Do you suffer any speed loss if using it in a camera with adaptor?

    • gopro

      • So you can watch it back, HD, slo-mo?

        • you need 40mbps minimum write speed

        • @pubby:

          I was quoting a song

    • In my Samsung K Zoom phone. I've already replaced a possibly failing 64GB card with another but Gallery refresh is so slow so will try one of these.

    • GoPro for me. Unsure if using it in an adaptor will affect it. Maybe run a quick google search.

  • why is Samsung Pro cheaper and have faster write speed (80 MB/s vs ~45 MB/s with the Lexar 633x)?
do you still recommend this over samsung?

    • Where can you buy a current model Samsung Pro 64GB microSD card locally for less than $69?

        Edit: oops that one's SD
(hands up if you made the same mistake)

          http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Class-Adapter-MB-MG64DA-AM/dp/…

However it says Up to 90MB/s read speed, 50MB/s write speed
where did the 80MB/s write speed some from?

        • @t0087669:

where did the 80MB/s write speed some from?

Hover your mouse over the bottom-left of the Amazon product image.

        • @t0087669:

I have 4 Samsung Pros 64gb going well since feb. Pretty sure the pack says 80mb/s write. Great cards keeping up with 4k vids. Goes well also with my gopro4 blk and various DSLRs.keeps up with high burst rates

Had a bad experience with one of these lexar cards becoming corrupted. Never bought em since.

        • @t0087669:
I think the 16 GB version is 50 MB/s write.
If I'm mot mistaken the 32 GB and 64 GB versions are 80 MB/s write.
