Buy a colour laser printer then the problem of ink drying up would be solved then since toner never dries up.
I do almost all my printing in the office, as per Ozbargain's Guide To The Galaxy. :P
The home printer is for emergencies, which is pointless since I never have ink left when I need it. Laser printer is a good idea… time to look for a bargain!
You get some good deals now and then on colour laser printers. Here's for example one which was on sale last month for $99.
As a matter of fact that same Ricoh colour laser printer is currently on sale again right now this time for $99 delivered.
@hollykryten: LOL, we've come a full circle. I just posted that. Gave you credit but I have no idea how to make it link to your name. I thought @name would do it but it doesn't.
LOL i had no idea it was you who posted that deal since i didn't really check. Well there you go.
Got a HP officejet and a canon MG series printer.
HP does not accept 3rd ink whilst the canon took it all. Not sure if this applies to deskjets.
HP does accept non-HP ink you just have to transfer the microchip from the genuine cartridge to the aftermarket one. What is your hp model?
It wont work even I have transferred the microchip on once the cartridge is empty. Seems like the printer has recorded the serial number on that chip as empty. Also tried refilling the genuine cartridges too, still recognised as an emptied ink.
Got one of these without NFC http://www.harveynorman.com.au/hp-officejet-pro-8620-all-in-…
So your non genuine cartridge came without a chip? if your cartridge is HP951, ebay is full of them with or without chip.
PS: Many HP printers have a chip s/n memory so you cannot just refill your existing genuine cartridge but what you can do is install 1 or 2 genuine cartridges and then used the genuine refilled one so the printer doesn't block it. Keep in mind that the ink level is still going to show low/zero but you already know it's full
Yes. non genuine ones are also chipped. but rejected by the HP printer.
And played around with the genuine cartridges, including what you have suggested, refilling it before it's empty.
I find Canon more convenient in that sense. It has no problem taking non genuine cartridges from ebay.
@googleyahoo69: I've got 2 HP printers but older models than yours. I'm using the one at home with CISS without problems and the one at work with chip swap-refills. Both working ok, maybe yours has got some kind of new protection.Have you checked if you can deactivate Ink chip information in your printer's menu?
P.S. Before I buy a printer the first thing I do is google it for CISS/ refill compatibility:)
ty,but I got the last time HN $14 one and haven't open the box yet
bought it last time it went on sale.
the black cartridge lasted almost next to nothing, I think it wasn't full, must have printed 50 pages tops
the cartridges that come with printers are never full, especially with low cost printers. Otherwise people would buy new printers instead if new cartridges(what I used to do a few years back) and save/make money
Old printer. Decent reviews (check amazon). Ordered (only plan to use it to scan and i see printer as a throw away one once ink runs out :))

Do they include the power cord at least?
Thanks op. I use the home printer so infrequently that the ink dries up. So cheap printers are enough for me!
Do you know if this one comes with ink? They usually do but the specs wasn't filling me with confidence.
