    Something like this… you don't buy it hoping your kid will take memorable photos. You buy it so they keep their hands off the $500 family camera!

      Just buy them a real camera for $49. Give them a shot at perhaps persuing a new passion instead of some piece of garbage that will end up in landfill after 5 minutes. If your kid is say 4 or 5 years old you can use a real camera to teach them how to be responsible.

  These are a pretty poor experience, even at $5.

  They eat through the batteries like no one's business.
  Use a proprietary twain based driver, so no using windows explorer to drag and drop the pictures when it's limited memory fills repeatedly with a 3 year old pressing the button like a gatling gun.

  Pictures are HORRENDOUS… and I'm not fussy. Unless you're on the equator at high noon, in a floodlit stadium, there isn't enough light to give a sharp image, or even a slightly ok looking 'bit' blurry one.
  You can forget taking pictures indoors, with all the lights on and people's faces frozen into place with botox and extremities gaffer taped to something solid. You'll get blurry images.

  Guys, buy your toddler an old camera phone, you can pick one up off eBay for as much as this, it'll be less painful than this.

  Oh, p.s. I have bought the $7 video camera now, I'm a suckered for punishment ;-) and wondering if it's even slightly better
