Cheapest on camel x3. Although the exchange rate isn't that great at the moment it still works out to be cheaper than the local shops (cheapest on staticice at the moment is $137). Buying multiple units will decrease the shipping cost per unit making this a better deal

The ones you have are basic drives. The one linked by OP to Amazon has encryption, security and backup software and at about $115 still not bad value.

WD Security (encryption) is an unknown quantity - it shouldn't be relied upon, hence, pretty much worthless.

        • Any references? I am worried since that is what I am using on my WD drives!

        • Any references?

          Precisely - that's the point.

By the way, I should have written "WD Security (encryption) is an unknown quantity and quality" just to stress the obvious.

Bought mine from gumtree for $80 with receipt from HN months ago.

um.. 2nd hand doesn't count.. how do u know the internals are ok..been dropped??

      • Brand new and sealed. You can buy this kind of stuff from gumtree. Pure luck I guess. Bought an iPhone 5 there 2 years ago at almost half retail.

I understand. I've bought many bargains on Gumtree before at more than 50% of retail and only few months after initial purchase. However the point I was trying to make is the fact that your comment is incomparable relating Gumtree stock to Retail stock.

It is a bit of lottery on gumtree and one have to be careful of stolen goods!

      (-) for telling the truth??

  • I bought them for $119 with Education 20% off direct from WD Education store AU.
Local Warranty and delivered free in 2 days.

  • I remember I bought one of them for 108 AU$ delivered in Feb 2013 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94760) … more than 2 years ago. Not the ultra (but I think there is no difference to the previous model) and even cheaper back than. It shows how our A$ devalued.

A great price right now (as far cheaper in US$) and my 2 year old drives still go strong :-).

    • People were complaining that the dollar was too high. Now that it's down, I wonder if they're happy?

      • Depends what you want to do … buying stuff or selling stuff. Our retailers and exporters will love it. Importers will hate it.
It is good for Australian Businesses as they can offer their goods cheaper on overseas markets.

  • There is a new model out, slightly faster and in a 3TB version, thus they're on clearance.

    • Are they thinner? Because unless in previous years, Seagate leaves them for dead when it comes to thickness and size.
