I have the DC59, can't live without it. I use it everyday. For hard floors and stairs, it is the most convenient vacuum to have. A must have, especially if you have young children. Not so good for large areas of carpet. The canister is way too small for carpet.

    Good find!

    Dyson V6 Animal Vacuum Handstick

Will this work on my dog?

    • This will definitely work "on" your dog, which is, sadly, not included in this deal.:)

  • Hmm…how's this compared to the DC45?

    • I have used neither but based on what I read so far, the suction of the V6 is better than the DC45, the time usage per battery charge is about the same, and the V6 is usually at least $200 more expensive. My question would be is it worth the extra $200.

Also, the V6 is basically the new name of the Dyson DC59. That confused me early on.

      • The value will really come down to what you expect of the device.

People buy these to either replace their vacuum cleaner and/or for handling small ad-hoc cleaning, small messes vacuuming the car etc. The and/or really depends on the size of your place, small house or apartment and they can fulfil both functions, larger places you'll still need a powered vac.

I had the 45 for a short-while, good value for ad-hoc cleaning but not good enough suction or battery life to replace a powered vac imo. I was able to return it and grab a V6 and haven't had to grab the powered vac since, very handy and very happy with it.

    • Heaps more powerful I think the 45 has 65 air watts on max. where this has 110 air watts. it really feels like 70% more power. Having said that I still feel like a standard vac gets more dust out of carpet than this. We wise our dc44 still for kids cleanups and spruce ups and it does the job. But if we had to buy again I'd get the 59 /v6

      • Also the 44/45 dosent really have enough power for car work. Still have to get the barrel out. Whereas the v6 reportedly does cars well.

V6 in such a small body, um, must be very powerful.

  • I have the DC59 and it is fantastic. my neighbour has the DC45 and after trying mine she said she will sell hers and buy the DC59.

I too have the DC59 and use it everyday, batt doesn't last for hours on end, and the bin needs emptying a few times if doing the whole house, but at least it gets used because of the convenience factor, and goes back on charge once back in the docking cradle. No point having a big vac with a tangly cord if you're never going to use it.

Question now is, does the V6 have the exact same motor as the DC59? Different floor tool?

    • The v6 is a rebrand of the dc59. Aesthetic changes only.

    • Yes, the DC59 had the same motor. The DC59 Animal and the V6 Animal are essentially the same product.

With the introduction of the V6 models, Dyson also introduced the V6 Fluffy and the V6 Absolute.

    • I have the DC59 multifloor, does the V6 animal have the exact same floor tool? Some reviews seem to indicate an upgraded tool?

      • Just read this review and from the pics it looks the same… http://www.cnet.com/au/products/dyson-v6/

      • DC59 multifloor? Do you just mean DC59?

        In short
        DC59 = V6
        DC59 Animal = V6 Animal

just cosmetic colour changes, same accessories come with them.

        • would all the V6 accessories & tools compatible with DC59?

        • @davidl2: Yes but like I said they are the same ones you get with the DC59 unless you mean the accessories that don't come with the model?

Ended up spending the additional 10 bucks and buying from Masters for additional convenience and peace of mind (warranty). Already have a DC59 but love it so much I'll have another :P

Aldi snow gear, half price Adidas shoes, Superdry apparel, $270 GoPro Hero4 Silvers, cheap memory cards… And now this. Please ozbargain, stop. :|

    • I think that's the standard Dyson v6, not the animal one

      • That's what I am suspecting. The Dyson v6 Animal has an original list price of $699 (discounted to $499) while the other listing was and still is $489. Might as well get the Animal, I'll just assume it's a better model.

OK. If I am correct the only difference between all the various V6 models is just the head attachments that come with the unit. Also only the V6 Absolute has a HEPA filter.

[1] Direct-drive Cleaner Head (75% more brush bar power than the [3] Motorised Cleaner Head)
    [2] Soft Roller Cleaner Head
    [3] Motorised Cleaner Head
    [4] Mini Motorised Tool

    V6 Absolute (HEPA Filter) - [1], [2] and [4]
    V6 Fluffy - [2] and [4]
    V6 Motorhead - [1] and [4]
    V6 Animal - [3] and [4]
    V6 - [3]

    • Correct :)

    • no its the same price, they have just matched the Masters price

Ah so theres a difference between the animal one then
