  • Just picked one up from Springfield store. Seen this for over $400 on some trade tools sites.

    Does this compress farts?

  • How many LPM for this one?

Recent Stanley deal was better. It was Belt drive and at $399.

205 so pretty grunty. I wanted that belt drive you mentioned but tired of waiting for it to go on sale again.

      • It was on sale when eBay has the $50 voucher bonus last week. So I paid $345 picked up.

If you plan on using this more than once a month I would seriously consider staying away from a direct drive compressor, not only do they have inferior flow and service life they are also extremely loud. Spend the extra coin on a belt drive.

  • Any air compressor experts here? I have no experience with air compressors, but from what I can gather you can buy multitude of plug in tools for it, including a paint sprayer, wrench, nail guns, etc. Is this a good air compressor? What power rating should I be looking for? Are air tools compatible between brands of compressors?

    • I am no expert, but I use them daily.

This compressor will pretty much be useless for spray painting. It is a direct drive compressor which is noisy and produces lots of heat, so although it may supply enough airflow for spray painting it cannot do it for long periods of time or it will overheat. Also direct drive compressors are basically non-serviceable units, whereas a belt drive is.

If you are only going to use it a few times a month for short periods of time, then this is the compressor for you. If you want something that will last and be able to tackle jobs big and small look for a secondhand belt drive compressor on eBay, the Stanley belt drive compressor at Supercheap is OK but I would recommend buying a used one on eBay for <$200.

There are some many different attachments available for use with air compressors, if it is a tool there is a high chance it comes in a pneumatic version.

Yes generally speaking air fittings are the same on consumer type tools.

      • Thanks mate, what you are saying sounds a lot like washing machines. I'll check out some used ones.
