Tips:

  • Use "add to basket" if you are buying more than one item to minimise the number of times you use this coupon, while ensuring your basket holds less than $1,500 of items to avoid the $300 cap.
  • Do your research first. Some retailers/items may be overpriced, certain items will be cheaper elsewhere even without the 20% off.
  • As always don't forget 2% cash back from Cash Rewards. Help
  • Dick Smith is having their own sale on their site. It's always best to compare the prices between DSE eBay and the DSE website.

      What do you see?

      • +3

He is blinded by the deal .lol

  • Good marketing by these companies to force people to use PayPal.. last time I missed Samsung galaxy s from TGG , this time looking for some bargain on game console.

    Thanks for the post.. :)

  • +9

So the UK deal was 20% off everything…but the "potential" Aus deal is 20% off the same tired stores that always hike prices prior to sales???

God damn I am so sick of "Australia Tax" on everything, everywhere, all the time.

    • -1

It will never end. Australian sheep are a lot less savvy. Take a look at all the hysteria already. Everyone knows these selected stores are jacking the prices up to compensate, but the magic words are:

      20% OFF.

OMG!!! 20% off!!! Let's not think! Who cares that the prices went up 25% yesterday! Everyone is doing it = lose our minds! 20%!!

      • +1

hmmm bit silly of the retailer .. reducing the chance of a sale by jacking up the price in a sale that they have nothing to do with, sale by ebay.

So the "sheep" here are well aware of what is a good and what is a bad price (jacked up or just RRP), the retailer im sure does move their prices up but they just end up losing a sale, if they leave the price well alone they get the sale ebay then gives the discount to the buyer… and im talking about users from this website .. all very savvy and we all communicate what we think is a bargain or not… (point of the site and specially this forum)

but thanks for the vote of confidence :)

        • yes, look at the hysteria from a large portion of "professionals" (who should know better). The average knuckle dragger has no chance.

This rigged sale is more popular than the legit 20% off sale last week. Not sure how much evidence you need.

Sheep will keep grazing no matter what though. Dick Smith and friends know it too.

Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of intelligent people on here - but they are not the majority. Anyway, have a good day.

TLDR: OMG 20% off! Going to tell my friends on Facebook now!

        • +1

@Son ofa Zombie: … :) ok facebook away (i didnt neg btw) hehe

        • @Son ofa Zombie:

This rigged sale is more popular than the legit 20% off sale last week. Not sure how much evidence you need.

If you mean the CTWENTY deal, it was a brief anomaly where a UK ebay promotion worked here, the US and wherever else. It appeared without warning in the late afternoon on a Monday and finished by the next morning. It was also down for most of the time with no indication of it working again. The original deal only got in the order of 3000 clicks in that time as most people simply missed it. Many missed out due to stock-outs or trying to get the thing to work, including late into the night. It did resurrect briefly in the early hours of the morning, when more people who had previously tired to apply the deal missed out again. THAT is why it wasn't more popular.

Despite what you say, it is actually more popular (based on + votes) than this premonition of a deal currently is. That original deal had well over 500 + votes and there were dozens of spin-off deals posted, containing many more + votes.

      • +4

I 100% agree. I swear people on OzBargain these days can't tell what a real deal is anymore. Everyone just votes positive for any deal now, without actually looking at the prices and comparing and doing research. Must be an influx of new users.

        • +1

I don't know, whenever we get these deals sure a lot of retailers up prices on the low margin popular things like games consoles etc but I usually manage to find something worth buying where the discount makes it a good deal. I'm happy to + this deal for that reason,

  • +2

Thanks op. Böught one (future tense )

  • -6

    Boom its up!

    • -1

Haha I wonder how many people I got this morning. Amused myself for a couple of hours.

  • +1

Have to say, if this is legit, OP is the REAL MVP. However, if not…

    • If not, MODS have their IP address and will hopefully BAN his usual account.

      • +1

IP addresses get cycled very frequently… I don't see why this is a threat anymore.

        • Maybe where you're from.

Most Australian ISP's have two DNS servers and assign an IP for each one, to each user (if the router reboots) and it picks the faster one.

ISPs TRY not to change your IP, even if you're not paying for Static. Updating routes takes overhead.

Static is more common than ever these days though, even DODO are doing static by default.
Really the only defence is a decent VPN, and thats only if you force an IP change between logons.

Besides, IPs are considered public. you just phone the ISP and ask for the other IP's the user has been using. The need a valid reason to log beside the request, but its not 'search warrant' material or anything.

          Besides, if the poster was ACTUALLY vigilant enough to;
Log out from his usual account.
Reboot his router (multiple times) untill he gets a new IP
Clear the cookie so it doesn't get referenced at login, even if its rejected.
Create an account with a new email.
          Confirm said email.
          Post this deal.
Log out and clear his cookies again.
Reboot his router multiple times until his IP changes AGAIN.
Log back into his usual account.

then…. I salute his efforts. I too, go all out for a prank. Sometimes taking months to plan it. But I still feel like its not a good enough prank to spend that much time on….

        • @MasterScythe: Thank you for this valuable information saves and probably will never use :P

    • To the chopping block

  • No Sonos.. But I'm thinking DJI phantom three drone from kogan but they only have the advanced model with 1080p cam not the 4k pro..

  • Not as good as the UK code so I will treat it as a spam / joke for now

hi alll i want a car reversing camera kit can anyone recommend one for me? thanks. for a small car

  • Been looking to get a surface pro 3 with i5 and 256gb. MS is selling it for $1571. Futu online is selling it for $2022, which still makes it $1722 after $300 off. There are 48 watchers on that. Do people actually pay more online or just are just waiting for price drop? Plus can Futu really sell it for higher than MS RRP of $1849?

    • are you sure the $2022 isnt for the i7 version?.. I'm also looking at the surface pro which is currently discounted manufacture-wide by MS(to all shops), if I can get 20%off the already discounted price, that would be amazing.

    • Futu is selling them for $1799 here, so you'll be looking at $1499 after discount basically.

To each their own, but I have a i5 128GB and I don't feel like I need more storage. You just need to set it up properly. Add a 128GB microSD and make that a default for all your files/downloads/dropbox. I installed the programs I use the most in the C:/ drive, less intensive programs/games in my microSD, and any extra CAD/modelling/adobe software in an external SSD. Yes, you'll spend some extra money for those things if you don't already have one, but you can always use it for your next tech purchase even if the surface dies/retires.

Most of the reviews I've seen online seems to recommend the i5 256GB as a minimum, but i think you can make it work with less.

I got the bundle from CompNow for $1450 (bought it using my ABN so I can claim the GST back). So basically $1300 for an i5 128GB, Type Cover, Stylus, and Docking Station, and they didn't have a bundle for the i5 256GB. I suppose if it's only a couple hundred different I would consider upgrading..

      • +1

The storage isn't the reason the reviews recommend it. It's the 8gb of RAM vs the 4gb of RAM. Ensures that your Surface is future proofed to some extent as the storage cannot be upgraded.

    • Just have a look at top notch - 2 in 1 HP Specter 360 4014tu i7 ,256 SSD model(was $1696 few ago at JB hi if) far better than surface pro 3 if you are not after surface good screen resolution and digitiser pen only.I my self earlier liked surface but not anymore and also it does not feels good when placed on your laps .Also HP spectre i7 is better than yoga pro 3(has good screen resolution than HP) as core M processor is not fast enough compared to i7 but has good screen resolution.

  • what are the chances eBay changes the code due to this leak?
same as what happened to TA's deliveryhero deal

    • +1

do you know what this means to them - FREE marketing!

I think they were worried about the Lul in Sales until 26th and hence added a new deal yesterday ($50 off $200)!

  • I'm looking to purchase the latest iPod Touch and find it strange none of these stores are selling it. Am I missing something?

    • +3

Apple products usually aren't sold on Australian eBay stores. The margins on Apple products are rather low and Apple doesn't support promotions. With the high level of fees eBay/PayPal charge, it's not equitable for them to stock them on eBay.

      • +1

        Thanks mate

      • +1

I recall when iPods were new, but popular, the profit from a sale for DSE was literally somewhere around 22c (could be a bogus buy price from corporate office, but thats what the stores saw).

They hoped to make the money on itunes cards, upgraded headphones, and cases.

        • Those buy prices seen in stores include all type of costs. Not what your head office pay for the product.

        • +1

Wow that's an insane margin. Apple MacBook margins are less than 10% too.

    • I'm not sure if these are the latest, but Compnow is having a sale on refurbished Apple products, iPod touch for $199
      http://www.compnow.com.au/store/store/clearance?p=7

  • So when is this going to be confirmed?

    • +1

When the clock strikes 7, in two days time, and someone tries it for real.
      If it works => CONFIRMED!!
      Else => FAKE!!

  • +1

Just thought Id post, as Kogan has a pretty decent deal on the Zenphone 2 - hold off etc if the 20% works…. Sweeeeet https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199342

    • Kogan's prices on ebay include 10% off at the moment, expires today, so if the 20% off is valid tomorrow the 10% will be over so no 31% off deals unless there is some loophole

  • Argh, no 2715q on Dell's ebay. Would've been perfect.

  • +3

Guys I'm not sure why this already got 600 ++++ on a post that cannot be verified…

Shall I call this the eBay impact

Unconfirmed Unsubstantiated Free Advertising for Ebay

    • +5

Definitely not a reason to neg after the mods have allowed this to be posted.

:EDIT: I don't think Ebay needs any advertising…

      • -7

Someone's got to neg to further highlight this may be fake
So many up votes and comments suggest otherwise
This newly signed up user is quite the mystery
Is he an insider, a current member with a new account?
Metadata will provide his identity to someone unless they have been cautious

        • Someone's got to neg to further highlight this may be fake

Yes, however I personally messaged the mods about this and they have allowed it. The coupon is real but not yet available as found out by another user. No need to neg me.

        • @Dagmar:
I never negged you (positive vote is proof)
You say the deal is real but post says its unconfirmed
Based on your now proven false assumption regarding my negging your comment
I don't have much confidence in your assumptions

        • @thelastnoob:

Watch out, we have a keyboard warrior here with his big words. I never claimed the deal itself was real, only that the coupon was. I don't have much confidence in your <big word here for dramatic flair on the internet>.

        • @Dagmar: > <big word here for dramatic flair on the internet>
          flamboozling?

        • @Dagmar:
Stating the coupon is real implies the deal is real right?
I didn't use big words I just logically assembled them

        • @thelastnoob:

Stating the coupon is real implies the deal is real right?

Nope, just merely states the coupon exists. Which means the OP either got very lucky in guessing a coupon or this has been a coupon used in the past… or the deal is indeed real, which I haven't claimed. Do you know how I know I didn't claim the deal was real? I was the one who typed my comment.

See how I logically connected all my own thoughts and laid it out for a simpleton to decipher and comprehend.

Side note: big words are fun.

  • Can't wait

  • Does anyone remember from previous ebay coupon sales whether the invoice from the store shows payment of the full price? (for TRS purposes) or does it show the amount that was actually paid?

    • +1

My dick smith receipt was for the full amount in the last (UK Paypal Code) 20% off deal

      • +1

dick smith invoice from others ebay sales (not the UK one) is with the paid amount (not the full price)

        • +1

My emailed tax receipt was full price but the receipt she had instore attached to the box was showing the discounted amount.

      • hmmmm seems to have conflicting amounts reported. Thanks for the info Japius and aldoduco, I might just get something a little more expensive so it really is over $300 still just to be safe.

        • +2

Actually, the $300 threshold includes the items bought not at the same time, not from the same receipt. As long as the receipts totalling more than 300, have the same ABN number and within 60 days prior to departure timeframe will eligible for the TRS. Speak of the personal experience.

        • @jayzee:

Interesting. So since most of these companies have store fronts too, they have the same ABN. YAY! Spending spree for the last two months :D

        • +2

@master phi: Do the TRS claim online to save you time. In airport, there are two queues, one for ppl did the claim online, one for ppl did not. One line has two or three ppl line up, another has 20-30 line up. You pick.

    • +1

Invoice shows the full amount before discount. This was the CTECH20 off, not the UK one.

      • okay so another answer. Hmmm will see what happens when I buy I guess.

  • -6

just tried to use code for GPA at good guys and got error: The coupon code can't be used for your purchase

    • +3

It doesn't start till the 26th…

  • So who's starting a betting pool as to what percentage stores will raise their prices tomorrow evening/morning of?

    • raise their prices tomorrow

Dicksmith already has on their gaming peripherals :D

    • Dick smith has already started doing that today. At least for the couple of items I was watching.

    • +1

Either futuonline has or they are just straight up expensive, their graphics cards look to be at least 10-15% more expensive than most other places. They're selling the gigabyte gtx 970 windforce for $586 where other sellers have it for around the $500-510 mark (msy sell it for $469) and they want $620 for the g1 gaming edition and other sellers have it for around $530. They have sold a few of both but can't check the sale history to see what they sale price was as it says page not found when I try.

      • Even their modem routers have gone up by 10%

    • Source?

    • No, the existence of the coupon is real. Stop misleading users because you can't find anything to respond to me with (regarding our above comments).

      Source.

  • -4

Dagmar his comments above confirm the coupon is real

  • +4

Tip to keep track of price hikers within eBay..

Add to your watch list, then for that item you can add a note with the current price.

Makes it easier when skimming your watch list in 2 days time to see who's jacked their price.

    • Some sellers constantly change prices regardless of whether or not there's a sale. That should be taken into account too.

  • I think people being impulsive about the "+" button, without verifying its a real deal or not.

In another words, not reading probably and just click "+" as soon as they see 20% off eBay GO GO GO

Like now, hate later doesn't work the same way as Buy now think later…

  • +1

    Any confirmation ?

    • -6

Yes coupon confirmed real but deal not confirmed real

  • Retailers better not increase their prices!

  • +3

This seems to be workable. I've just deliberately used the code and it says that this code is not yet ready to use.

It is different message when you enter the incorrect code.

Been looking for a second set top box.

    Dick Smith Online Store $29.87

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/set-top-boxes-pvrs/dick-smith-hd…

    Dick Smith Ebay $49.98

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dick-Smith-HD-Digital-Set-Top-Box…

Not worth waiting for 20% off…will just grab it from the online store…

  • So I was about to buy the wife a Samsung S6 64GB for her birthday in 2 days.
    Around $929 at Officeworks
Am I really going to be able to get this through this deal for around $743 ?
Or am I wasting my time holding out for something like that

    • i'll let you know in two days. ;)

If you have any credit card with price protection, buy now from dick smith. get the $50 voucher and then claim PP if they get 20% off.

    • +1

Buy it tell her not to open it foe couple of days. If code woeks return to office works

  • If this does happen will the 10% off Kogan sale still be on too? If so, there are some crazy deals to be had.

    • 10% off kogan sale ends tomorrow

      • Oh damn does it really? Could you please link me to the page that shows this.. I can't seem to find it.

        • happyantix is right. ends 25th.

whatd id do is make a fake account, buy now pay on the 26th if the code works and you get both savings.

if code doesnt work just dont pay

        • @imtahir7: if you pay today you will get the $50 plus the 10% discount.

        • @imtahir7: can you explain how to 'buy now and pay later'? sorry noob here

        • +1

          @lemonadeskies:

so what you would do is buy it now. wait for the 20% code to become active and then when you pay say on the 26th you will get the purchase price with the 10% off from kogan and then you will get the 20% off code when you enter it via paypal when paying for it when it goes live.

        • @imtahir7:

is the 'buy it latr' option for all items? pressing 'buy it now' on the iphone 6 [16gb] just takes me to the checkout where it asks for paypal/CC details.. wheres the option for 'paying later?'

        • @lemonadeskies:

it would take you to the payment but i dont think you would necessarily have to pay right away.

it should come up in your purchase history as bought but not paid.

give it a test run on a second account just to be sure but i cant see why it will be a problem
