20% off Purchases above £20 on eBay (~ $40AUD), Capped to £50 off (~ $98AUD)

CTWENTY

Hi all,

Thought I would pass this on from and it is expiring at Midnight UK Time:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/20-off-ebay-using-promo-c…

I just tried it on a LG G4 and it brought the price down to AU $601.03 delivered (if people need a deal):
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-G4-H815-32GB-4G-LTE-Factor…

Easiest way I found was to search for the item on ebay.com.au then when you're on the item page, change the address to ebay.co.uk and follow on with that.

edit: turns out you can use it from the ebay.com.au site as well, thanks st33p!
Discount capped to around $98AUD in that case, based on a poor conversion rate.

Feel free to post any good deals if you find any as I don't have much time to search at the moment.

The limit as per link above is "Maximum discount of £50 (£250 spend)" and also limited to one transaction.

Thanks all!

WOW!!! I JUST MISSED IT WAS TOO BUSY FINDING OTHER STUFF TO BUY TOGETHER!

    SO MAD (at myself)!

No Crossover 2795QHD monitor for me and no 8TB HDD for me.

  • +6

Haha the UK now knows what getting ozbargained is!

    • Is that code with a limited number to use? If not nothing to do with us?

      • Yes but if we didn't use the code, given the amount of deals posted here, then the code can still be used now. Isn't it called Ozbargained?

        • I think may be they just realized that this code should not work with ebay.com.au

But last time the US code also worked here.

  • +3

Thanks Frogduck for the code and st33p for confirming it works in AU site and elcheapoinoz for checking if we can still avail the $50 voucher. I was able to buy a Fluke multimeter from US seller, pasta maker from BingLee, ink for my laser printer. I am not sure if I have saved a lot or spent more than I wanted to :-)

  • A person from UKhotdeals forum (don't know how to link it here): "Just called them and there systems are down".

I guess there's a chance it can still come back to life!

    • Yeah was just having a read of that, trying to see the T&C's of the deal somewhere.
I'm hopeful it will come back :)

    • +2

Given we know they can lock their codes down well (when they want), wouldn't surprise me if it comes back up for UK only. Fingers crossed though for more global goodness :)

      • Good point…..wouldn't surprise me.

    • I've done reading on UK sites, and it's definitely on until midnight UK time, 9am tomorrow here. Might be copping a flogging with the deal, so hopefully it'll be back up soon.

  • pooop. It's dead for the UK people too, lets hope the code is only down temporarily…please…

Yeh eBay got Slicked as well as OzBargained :D

  • +2

I was just about to buy a camera lens, thought I had plenty of time since post said midnight UK time :(

  • how do you check if the coupon works or not before committing to buy?

    • code looks to be expired

      • Ya
I was buying the electric toothbrush from shaver shop 20min ago, before ppl started posting code does not work…
I had to commit to buy to apply the coupon… and the code did not work..
so now i have to pay $99….

        • +1

you can request to cancel order.

    • +4

Add to cart rather than buy it now

      • damn…. will have to be cautious next time…
        was too exited to buy….

      • but in the cart you can't verify if the code works, you have to proceed to checkout. Isn't it the same as buying?

        • +8

in checkout mode (after adding to cart) you can still opt out of 'buying' it…. whereas 'buy it now' results in an immediate purchase :-)

        • +1

Yeah, by adding to cart, until you've actually paid for it you haven't committed to purchasing it.

  • +4

its gone coz the aussies won the ebay race

  • +3

It doesn't expire until 9am tomorrow, midnight UK time. I confirmed this on UK sites. It's likely just been swamped and hopefully will be back up.

    • +3

Probably only supposed to work on ebay.co.uk but they've just realised its working on all ebay sites.

      • +1

Yea, that's a good point. Wish I knew what it was. Want to get to bed, but also keen to spend more (with the wife's account) if it comes up.

  • +5

Wow, good while it lasted all!

  • +8

I need to learn to stop faffing about reading the description 100 times :(

  • just go to checkout after I add many items to cart and found that the code not work, so sad :(

  • +31

On the bright side… Going for a poop just saved me $297.40!

    • +7

      Hi5, I was pooing aswell!

      • Wash your filthy hands sir

    • +1

Best comment I've read all deal haha.

    • sifnt ozbargain while pooping!

    • Comment of the year.

  • Damn it. Right as I was about to buy stuff.

    • The Brits are used to bad service ;-)

      • +1

The Brits have to ruin everything… as usual! Now where am I going to get $60 RAM for the JB Acer?

        • You might be able to get it used or from gumtree perhaps.

        • @fryandlaurie: Surprisingly it's not on Gumtree in my region and it's not worth the risk of using used.

  • +2

I'm amazed only 2 people have complained on ebay UK's facebook so far

    • Haha

    • Not anymore ;).

      • lol here it comes

        • lol i wonder what percentage of the code's quota is due to us ozbargainers..

        • +2

@CVonV: slickdeals (american) has 46 pages, and counting, of comments on this deal. I think they won

        • @mr kindface:

would be interesting to see the stats

  • +2

I check ozbargain several times a day but for some reason I missed out seeing this code. Ugh! I really wanted to get some stuff from ebay =(

  • +1

    A comment from someone on hotukdeals;

Update from eBay: This issue has been already escalated to our Technical team, they are working on it and will be resolved within next few hours.
    Keep trying is the message…

    • +2

It needs to be fixed before I go to bed!

  • Damn it, hit buy and got the bad news :( Thought this was going to be the deal to finally make it worth using eBay again. #nope

  • Block-quote"I would suggest you to try after 2 to 3 hours and if still get same error then please go with the purchase and pay for the items, you will be refunded after 14 days."

Someone from the hotukdeals said this

    • +1

      Who would risk that! Hah

      • The guys in the UK are hating on us because we "stole" their deal haha

      • Paypal's has pretty good customer service. So I'm fairly certain they would honor that

    • +2

      NO ONE IS THAT DUMB!

      • +1

Thank you for staying connected. We are aware that there was an issue with the voucher that prevented it from being applied and we are currently investigating this. We will be looking into a way to ensure that members like you still get the benefit from the voucher. For the meantime, you can make payment in full and we will reimburse your PayPal account with the discount amount for the completed transactions. Please note that it will take up to 14 days to see this reimbursement in your PayPal account.

This is what they got told by the customer service people

        • +2

How will they defer people whom have the code and those who don't? They're not going to credit everyone who buys something in the next 8 hours.

        • I think some people had the code entered but still got charged full price

        • +2

          @morphio:
Im guessing theyll try to limit it to UK people only

        • +1

It says "members like you". I reckon they might check your location, since it was technically meant for UK only. Just my 2c.

        • @morphio: Correct on that. Someone in customer service don't know what they are saying.

        • @morphio: They just give the discount to those who ask for it on paypal? All you have to do is take a screenshot of the cust service msg. Doubt we would get it anyway since we are in Aust.

        • @parlai: That's what I was thinking as well, keep it for UK members

        • +6

Oh c'mon guys, we're descendents of the UK, we should be entitled to that deal lol

        • @montorola:

Forget descendents. It's our Queen whether we like her or not. That's got to be a good enough reason to qualify for this deal.

        • @montorola:

haha historical descendants card for a discount :p

  • Imagine the people who got the old bait and switch. The ones who committed to buy then could no longer use the code.

  • I bought the ASUS phone with the US code last time without any problem but this time not with the UK code?

    • Well it's expired.

  • Thanks OP, paid $702.64 for a cheap Chinese 3020T $799 CNC mill.
Been wanting one for some time now, finally had to stump up :-). It's like getting the 4th Axis almost free!

Happy, also scared for when the wife finds out :-p

    • +1

why so much? this one would have been $667 less the max $100 discount.. so around $567? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CNC-3020T-ROUTER-ENGRAVER-ENGRAVI…

      • Tbats the older model and only three axis,i figured id go for something a little better :-)

        • just curious, what's the 4th axis? if we have X, Y and Z… what else is there? the 4th dimension?

        • @Logical:

I'm hoping its time, but likely its something more like pitch or angle

        • @Logical:

4th axis is a rotary 'lathe' attachment,

it clamps to the work area so you can use the up/down mill action to mill on a rotating piece of material, like a lathe.
where it really becomes useful is to create tapered edges on things much quicker than 'stepping' up / down repeatedly crfeating 100's of micro steps . just simply rotate the work sideways a bit and 'mill' a straight edge

all theory right now mind, have never used a mill before, only a paper cutter :-P

        • @bleugh: I see, sounds good. So what sort of things will you be doing with this thing?

        • @Logical: No idea yet!
probably will play around with gearotic,
          sliceform shapes for the garden
some toys for the kid - train tracks'll be easy to make

  • So crap… Just had $480 of stuff ready to check out and expired!

  • Thanks OP! i7-4790K for $400 from PCCG. Hopefully it comes with the bonus $50 Hump Month code.

    • Did you just buy it ? Like right now ?

      • +2

No sorry - was earlier tonight. Had to jump on it quick - I miss most of these deals usually!

        • Lucky ! Missed out on it as I was clicking to check out :'(

    • how long ago did you order.. saying code expired now?!

      • About 8pm (Adelaide time)

  • Well saw this deal and figured there was nothing I really needed to buy. Then realise once it expired I could have gotten a nice new SSD :-( Oh well.

Also to note, this is exactly how the eBay specials should work, none of this '20% off in a week's time' and then all the sellers put their prices up by that much to match it. Then again, that would mean it'd actually cost eBay some money…

  • +15

Good old typical Ozbargainer on ebay uk facebook ensuring that if they get the code working again, Australia will be excluded.

He should go all the way and do a TA and actually call them up like the toilet paper deal, to ensure no one else can use the code.

Looks like the CTWENTY code was only meant for the UK eBay site - but it worked worldwide. I got stuff with it here on eBay Australia. it worked in the US too. I'd say this was unintended and expired far faster than it was meant to

      I know.. what a douche.

    • Ebay probably knows that already but this is a pretty douche move. Ah well, some people.

    • name and shame!

    • What was the point of that? Trying out for the Ebay police perhaps?

    • +1

Whats the point in posting that to ebay??? Not sure if that guys trying to be a smart arse, dumb arse, too honest arse or a show off arse. Either way, there's one thing in common!

      • In any case, he was certainly an arse!

    • he deleted his post xd

  • +1

Someone on hotukdeals says they have been refunded already. wonder if would have any luck with ebay.com.au customer service..

  • +1

The AU live chat basically said she can 100% guarantee the code is still working but that I'm not eligible.

    What bullshit.

    • +1

when i contacted them they wanted to know some userid of australia ebay users who used this code to prove that it was working in australia and i didnt have any userid to prove….. :(
