Bendix Brakes and DBA Rotors 28-37% off Sparespro

31

Time to change the brake pads on my car and I came across SPARESPRO and they had Bendix Brake Pads (General CT, Heavy Duty, Ultimate and Euro+) on EOFY clearance. Other brands like DBA are also on sale, not sure if they are cheap though?

As an example, for my Corolla, $99.50 all in for 4 brake pads (Bendix General CT) or about 25% less than SCA.

Orders over $99 also gets free delivery!

Update: DBA rotors are not the cheapest, refer to comments by random101 and dice below.

  • Wish you posted this last week! Just paid $189 for my two front bendix brakes installed from kmart tyre and auto.. plus an extra $70 to shave the discs! :-(

    Avoid DBA rotors…

    • Edit and the prices are similar to http://brakesdirect.com.au

    • Always go for DBA rotors, last and wear better then the others!

      • If you're into cracking rotors then sure… go for em. Just read the WRX forums the 4000 and 5000 ones are meant to be okay.

        • So who is cracking them… The boy racers that are happy to spend a heap on the go but not the whoa?
Ps. I've seen cracked ceramic discs before too!

        • @Snoop:

There is also a difference in how they manufacture them, the other main brands cast the slots or drill outs in the rotors where as DBA do it in post production (drilling it out) hence more susceptible to cracking.

Just offering friendly advice as I was looking for on my everyday car. Friends, shops and forums all told me to stay clear of DBA base models and had the proof to go with it.

          @random101:
But perfectly fine for mums and dads car.

  • Hmm this could be very handy. I need my brakes done on my 07 Mazda 3 SP23.

I'm thinking about putting the 'Heavy Duty' ones on the front, and the 'General CT' pads on the back, simply because they don't make the heavy duty for the rear. I'm assuming there won't be an issue mixing the brake pads for front and rear? First time replacing the brakes on this car, and all my previous cars I've just whacked on whatever. I'd like to get the stock OEM pads, but they're crazily priced.

Mixing pads are ok for daily drives, probably also the reason Bendix don't have heavy duty ones for the rear. Many cars get the front pads replaced (different brands/spec, basically what the mechanic have on hand) while the rears stays the same (OEM or otherwise), as the front pads takes more load (wears more) compared to the rears.

      • Cheers for that, I was figuring along the same lines. Was more just worried if the fronts bite harder than the back and it unsettles the car if the backs don't have the same braking power.. Even though the fronts do what, 70% of the braking?

Last service I had 6 months ago both the front and rears were at 10% (car has 128xxx km on the clock) and they haven't started to squeel yet, but figured I may as well get them done now. Think I'll buy some now then!

Looking up Evo brembo - DBA rotors are at least $10 cheaper each compared with Brakes Direct. Not a huge difference but still cheaper.

  • Thanks Random101 and Dice for pointing out the prices regarding DBA rotors, OP edited.

I was only interest in the brake pads for my Corolla, hence my question regarding DBA rotors in case some of you are into that.

  • This company is (profanity) useless. Ordered last Monday night and the order is still 'pack'. Sent an email through their online contact form on Friday morning asking about the status of my order, still no reply.

Tempted to open a Paypal dispute. An eBay seller can post a $1 item the day I buy it, this lot have an order for over a week and don't ship it and no communication.

Avoid Sparespro. Hope this gets picked up by google bots :-)

    • I'm in the same boat. :(

I gave them a call today and the nice lady said one of the pads I wanted need to be ordered in from Bendix, it should arrive later today or by tomorrow. Time will tell if I'm getting the run around. I guess you could call and see if that's case for you too.

In their defense, if I ordered from SCA, they gave an ETA of 5-10 days as well. Apparently it takes a while for them to come in. From SCA: Order Monday, arrive earliest Friday in store (pickup), if I want posted to me, that take another business day.

No excuse… If there's a lead time, they should make it known. Not just take my money, ignore emails, and make absolutely no attempt to say there is delay with them. If they have a sale, have the damn things in stock.

This just shows what a shithouse company they are.

        • Let's be honest, they probably don't even carry the stock but just order it in when they get a confirmed order and payment.
Looking at Google Maps, it's just some dodgy little tin shed unit a few doors up from a Supercheap.
