We all know how important the battery is in our devices and how quickly they go flat, so Qualcomm came up with the idea to create a fast charging technology that will allow you to charge your device faster without frying its innards.

Tests have shown that a 3300mAh battery has gone from 0% to 60% in only 30 minutes! The Quick Charge port is also backwards compatiable with any devices that do not support the technology and the car charger also includes a 5V, 2.4A USB port.

For more information on how Quick Charge works see Android Authority's article here.

Some of the Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible models include:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung GALAXY Note Edge
  • LG G4, LG G Flex2
  • HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One mini
  • Sony Xperia Z3, Z4, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet, Z4 Tablet
  • Google Nexus 6
  • Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Moto X
  • Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note
  • Sharp Aquos Pad, Sharp Aquos Zeta, Sharp SH01G/02G

This USB Car Charger also has protection against over-currents, over-charging and short circuits, so your device won't overheat or get damaged. The charger has also been officially certified by Qualcomm to ensure its quality.

Amazon reviews on the device can be found here.

Please note: Limited to 1 item per user.

    Awesome price! Thank you.

  • +1

Is this safe for Australian standards? Any alternatives?

    • -1

It's not a cheap USB wall outlet that you find on eBay with a crude design. It has features included to prevent short circuits, over charing etc and is required for it to be certified by Qualcomm.

    • Is this safe for Australian standards? Any alternatives?

Surely this isn't a serious question! It's a car charger!

      • +3

so? don't standards apply to car chargers too? but yeah i'm a noob when it comes to these things.. sorrreh

        • I haven't been able to find any information on standards for car chargers, but every el cheapo generic charger I've got so far has overheated and died. They also tend to charge really slow too.

        • +1

          @Clear:

          +1 to that…

        • @Clear: what happens? I just bought one from ebay a week ago. El Cheapo for less than $2. What's bad about it? Risk of damaging phone (nexus 5)?

        • @hahaboy: My Nexus 5 never got damaged, so you should be fine. One of mine got really hot and smelt like burning plastic and eventually died.

        • -1

          @hahaboy:
For a car charger there's not so much a safety factor in the sense you can't be electrocuted or anything. The problem with cheap/dodgy mains chargers is they frequently don't have enough isolation from the mains.

          1) Bad regulation could damage your phone (although somewhat unlikely that a small voltage increase will damage much since the phone has its own chargin circuitry that will withstand a certain rang of voltages). 12V straight through might cause issues though if that happened.
          2) Chargers creating bad EMI tend to affect operation of capacitive touch screens (not permanently though).
          3) Cheap ones may struggle to produce the rated output and drop out. That said I have a TomTom USB charger that does that.

          So fairly low risk really.

        • -1

          @Shonky:

you can be electrocuted and/or killed by 12v, any sort of power can kill you

        • -1

          @storyteller:
How? 12V is not "power". Perhaps you mean current? Pretty hard to generate enough current through the body with 12V.

        • -1

          @Shonky:

throw the end of a mobile phone charger in the bath next time you're in there and tell me 5v doesn't hurt :)

        • -1

          @storyteller:
5V even less so. It doesn't hurt. No need to try it.

        • @storyteller: The only way 12V could directly kill you if you hook it up directly to your heart using electrodes, even then since it is DC, you are not going to go into fibrillate without significantly higher current compared to your normal household AC systems. You create a short across the two terminals and you might end up with a pretty bad burn and the resulting explosion could kill you but not the 12V itself.

In short if 12v kills you it means death was after you and you most likely would have died another horrible death within the hour if you survived the 12v electrocution.

  • Do you need to use the cable it came with for quick charging to work?

    • Do you need to use the cable it came with for quick charging to work?

No. Any decent cable will work and they list the specifications on the product page.

    • Do you need to use the cable it came with for quick charging to work?

It supplies 9V @ 2A, so a cheap cable rated at 500mA might not be as good, but any good cable designed for normal 5V charging will be OK.

  • So just to confirm, this is the 2 port version? Is the cable included? If so… great deal!

    • -5

So just to confirm, this is the 2 port version? Is the cable included? If so… great deal!

The product page clearly shows a dual port charger and goes into detail on each port, how can you get confused?

Under the table labeled package contents it also clearly states a cable is included!

      • +1

Not when I viewed it! The link has been updated. It was previously pointing to a mobile page without that info.

      • +1

To be fair, the Amazon link provided by the OP defaults to the single port version.

        • My bad. Reviews are for both devices though.

  • Can I charge a non-adaptive fast charging device e.g. iPhone using the Quick Charge 2.0 port?

    • +2

      Yes, will work fine

    • +1

      yes

  • Site keeps crashing and timing out :-(

    • Probably an overload of visitors from our flash sales and other big discounts in the anniversary sale. You'll be able to check out on the mobile site if it doesn't work.

      • actually couldnt check out on the mobile site, kept crashing. Switched browser, logge dinto my account on classic/desktop site, and was able to make payment

        • -1

          Yeah same here.

  • Take 30-40 business days?

    • China

    • From my own experience, free shipping has typically taken about 3 weeks to reach me here in Tas.

  • Been eying similar off on all of Dickies' sales, never pulled the trigger. But this one got my pennies.

I'll look forwards to using it in a month or so…

  • OP, might want to mention it's limited to one item only

    • My apologies, I'll fix that now.

  • +1

The cable looks high quality, i found what appears to be more of the same, 6 for $9 USD which might appeal to some.

20 AWG should make for a quality cable right? Thoughts welcwelcomed.

    http://m.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-USB-2-0-Male-to-Micro…

    • As always it depends on the length. 20-guage over 2x6' is 0.12 ohm, or 0.25V at 2A. So Ok.

  • Is this one better because of the higher amperage?: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Smart-mini-Dual-USB-Car-Charger-A…

    • +2

I think the higher amperage is due to it being the combined one, as in the total output (whereas this one is not, this one shows 2.4A on one port and 2.0A on the other, so it would be like 4.4A Total Output). Besides, the sales point of this one seems to be that it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge.

      • +1

There is a voltage difference too.
        The "Quick Charge 2.0 " is 9V.

  • 30-40 business days for shipping?

    • That's normal for free shipping from China. Usually takes 3 weeks to reach me.

  • Xperia z2 tablet also has quick charge 2.0. Or the Japan model of the phone.

  • Do you stock any charger compatible for Samsung S4 MINI and HTC ONE M7

    • The HTC One M7 utilises the Quick Charge 1.0 technology, which is backwards compatible with this, but unfortunately the S4 Mini does not appear to support Quick Charge.

  • +1

    Hello

    Anything similar for Iphones/Ipad?

    Suggestions by elite members..

    Regards
    Sanjiv

  • Thanks and ordered. Wonder how long this ones going to take to come. Last time the Onda tablet took years hahahaha

    • There aren't any holidays coming up where China closes shop, so it should be 3 weeks away hopefully.

      • Got email this morning its shipped….lol

  • +1

Limited to one per customer - sigh signing up twice to get two is so inconvenient….

    • Unfortunately it wasn't my decision to limit it to 1 per customer sorry.

  • Might this flatten an older [small] car battery, if used with the engine off?

    Particularly in southern Oz winter.

    • After some quick Googling I found that it won't make your car battery go flat. It'll only be drawing power while charging anyway, but if you want to be extra safe you can unplug it when you leave your car.

      • Starting can be touchy with an older car battery in cold weather ;-(

Better to only charge with the engine running - particularly for Wh extracted, when either drawing a high wattage, or even a lower wattage over an extended time?

        • +1

If pulling 3ah out of your battery causes your car not to start you might be better putting your USD$9.99 towards a new battery.

    • +1

Most (if not all) cigarette lighter sockets are only active when the key is turned to ACC or ON. You have nothing to worry about.

      • Unfortunately if you own a ford fiesta circa 2010 the lighter socket is always on. I had to hardwire my dashcam cause the bloody thing never turned off

  • For those with Sony phones with magnetic charging ports, unsure if it does Quick Charge depending on what you're connecting with. Apparently the official dock does it, but I wouldn't be using that in the car.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • Having a few problems with site. Although the coupon code is recognized on the order page, when paying for the item via Paypal, the invoice amount does not apply the $7USD discount asking you to pay the full price of $16.99USD.

    • .
I just bought one using PayPal (thanks rep) Sign up to Geek Buying > log in > buy product click "apply coupon" discount appears
use PayPal and when paying the original price is near the top SCROLL DOWN page the final price called GRAND TOTAL it's in AU$
mine was AU$13.3? mailed, I chose the 'registered airmail with tracking' for $2.65 my Grand total was AU$15.96
      Hope that helps ;)

      • +1

        Thanks. It worked.

  • If the phones do not support the quick charge, what will this charger output then? standard 0.5A o 1A or ? We don't have any of the phones listed above….

    • The Quick Charge port is 12V/1.5A and the other port is 5V/2.4A.

  • Thanks OP. Hope this fits in my car!

    • Lol 97.4% rating. Buy it and let us know how it goes and if it even turns out to be genuine.

    • That's just a standard 2.1a charger. The Tronsmart one is both Quick Charge and 2.1a.

  • Is it just me or the deal has expired ?

    • Sorry the coupon expired today. I might be able to get it extended.

      • Yes please !

        • Check your PM ;)

        • @Clear: Oh I'm late here too… Can you PM me for the coupon please. Thanks.

        • @Clear:

I'm Late too, can i grab a PM code too? Thanks!

        • @scyu: Send me a PM. You haven't set your profile to allow people to send you messages.

        • @Clear: I've just done my account settings, thank you.

  • could you please PM me that as well, I had so much problems when the website was buggy

    • I'm sorry, but the new coupon has expired. Geekbuying could only give me a second one with a limited amount of uses. Hopefully I'll be able to post one in the future.

Received mine today (8 working days to deliver).

  • +1

Received mine today, and works well on my note 4

  • +1

I got my charger today as well in Sydney. Didn't expect it to be as quick. Let's hope it performs well as well.

  • finally got my one today

    • wow yours took a while.. i got mine on the 22nd like the others.. quick charges (1200mAh) on my note 3.. cable is good too

  • We will be running this promotion very soon again for anyone who missed out or wants another ;)

    • Yeah missed out last time. Waiting for the new promotion :)

      • Thanks to store rep posting limits.. I'll be able to on Saturday.

  • Does anyone else have trouble getting it to stay in the socket?

The spring for the metal contact on the end of mine is really strong, so it fully extends and pushes the charger out - then the slightest bump will shift it and stop the contact.
