Dymo LabelManager USB Plug&Play Starter Pack inc. 2 x Tape Cassettes - $49 OW Instore or C&C

150

Saw these while passing a bargain bin at Officeworks Milton (QLD) yesterday and didn't really think anything more of them… that was until I realised they included two tape cassettes worth $36 each let alone the value of the printer itself! As per the description in the link: "This starter pack includes the LabelManager Label Maker, 1 black on white D1 label cassette 12 mm x 7 m and 1 black on yellow D1 label cassette 12 mm x 7 m" If purchased separately these items total a whopping $162.17 so yes I consider this to be a bit of a bargain ;)

The individual items included are exactly as follows:
- Label Maker @ $88.91 - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/dymo-labelm…
- D1 Black on White Tape Cartridge @ $36.63 - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/dymo-d1-12m…
- D1 Black on Yellow Tape Cartridge @ $36.63 - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/dymo-d1-12m…

I have one of these machines at work and find it very handy to have permanently connected to my PC. Simply connect it to a spare USB port and the device will appear as a new drive letter within seconds. Click the executable within that drive letter and the label making program appears (note: nothing actually installs!). It's a very simplistic program but makes printing multiple labels a breeze. Baffling as to why it has an internal battery though because these are useless when disconnected from the USB port. Maybe just a way of offering the grunt when required. Strange… but they work very well nevertheless.

Checked a few other states and there seems to be stock available all over the place! Go get one :)

Jesus, another thing I will hardly ever use but have to buy.

  • @ OP, does this label maker have to ability to print a barcode through the program?

I looked up the user manual before clicking buy, the simple software bundled in the machine looks like it can print/crop an image onto a label - and it's compatible with the "DYMO Label 8" software which seems to be the one that can do the fancy things like barcodes etc.

7m metres of tape for $36.63, they are expensive indeed…
I am just going to buy a roll of sticky tape and a Sharpie.

  • Nice. Go go gadget OCD! The house is going to be labelled floor to ceiling now.

  • Can you print multiple lines with this?

    • No - this is comparable to a hand held label printer.

  • I think the 450 is better for doing mailing labels and it can do graphics
    cost more

After using mine. Heres some interesting things.

The battery is supplied, it's lithium ion

There is updated software you can download. which is more complex than the built in software

    Can print emoji's and images

    • @RockyRaccoon which software were you talking about. Can't find it on dymo website.

      • I found it with the built in software on the top menu line there is an icon next to the screwdriver and spanner if you click on that it will download the software (Mac, but PC should be similar)

        • thanks! got it!
