hey cheezeburger, I have the same car. I have it on the vent on the right of the steering wheel. You have to face the vent upwards, and its a tight squeeze so be careful. Had it for months now, and with a Note3 no issues, even take it to the track for lap-timing.

Most phones feel like they are metallic enough to magnetize, but they are not.
Like GregFiona says, it comes with self adhesive metal plates which you can stick to the back of your phone, they are really thin.

Claims to work on any case I doubt it because slim armor on G3 and lots of leather cases, or the spigen range on iPhone will not work with magnets
Phones with curve back cases wonder even stick that metal crap will work
