          @Hazza:

Thanks for the suggestion. I can confirm that even after unplugging the cat5 cable and power cycling - going to the IP that was setup for the wifi connection does not work. Eg set wired as 192.168.1.20 and wifi as 192.168.1.21, confirming the settings have been saved and then power cycling and navigating to 192.168.1.21 after waiting for the camera to start up and click a few times like it does, does not work either. Have tried both on a

Have also tried reserving IP addresses based on the MAC address. So strange

Netgear NB604N and an older Belkin f5d7234-4 (the belkin does not have IP reservation so could not do that on there)

        • @thereisriceandcurry:
Have also tried using the reset application to rest all settings to default and starting from scratch

        • @thereisriceandcurry: Interesting. So I assume when the ethernet is unplugged it doesn't ping respond on 192.68.1.20 either? The best way to trial and error with this camera is to setup both interfaces to have separate IP addresses and then try and ping both the interfaces still with the ethernet attached. If you can ping both the wifi IP address and the ethernet IP address, then unplug the ethernet cable, and try and ping both IP addresses again. See if either work. Also have you got the interfaces on static or DHCP at the moment?

        • @Hazza: thanks for the suggestion. At the moment they are all over the place as I have been trying all sorts of things. But I have tried with both static and DHCP.

Ill try that when i get home. Ill turn DHCP off, enable wifi, set an IP individually for both wired and wireless within the config settings to two new IPs not used before, and also reserve IP's based on MAC address. Ill then ping with ethernet plugged in and then unplugged, both after power cycling and waiting a good 2 minutes. Before this all I'll reset the settings with the utility

        • +1

@Hazza: Ok so I've tried it. Reset the settings on one camera. Hooked up with ethernet default settings. Gone to 192.168.1.10 and kept wired DHCP off and changed the IP to 192.168.1.61, and used the MAC address to do a IP reservation in the router. Restart camera. Then log into 192.168.1.61, go into deviceCFG, setting>system>netservice>wifi, scanned and selected my wifi, clicked enable, put password in, kept DHCP off, set IP to 192.168.1.71, saved, restart, check that both IP found with devicemange, used MAC for second IP and reserved IP in router, restarted.

With ethernet plugged in. Ping to 192.168.1.61 and… 71 are both 1ms

Then restart camera from webgui, wait, and try pinging same ip's, for 61-destination host unreachable and for 71 (wifi ip) out of 2 pings, 7 read request timed out and one destination host unreachable.

          Far out

        • @thereisriceandcurry: So after both IP's pinged, you restarted the camera, still with the ethernet connected and then you can't ping the IP's anymore? Or did you unplug ethernet in that step too? If you still had ethernet plugged in, then the restart from the web gui stuffed everything.

When you get to the part where you can ping both IP addresses with ethernet plugged in, unplug ethernet (don't restart the camera) and then try and ping both IP addresses and report back.

        • @Hazza: In that step I had unplugged the ethernet cable. I can confirm, restarting the camera with the ethernet cable plugged in does not break it, I am still able to get 1ms pings on both IP's after restart with ethernet cable plugged in.

Test: Ethernet cable plugged in - 1ms ping on both IPs. Without restarting camera, unplug ethernet, then both IP ping=destination host unreachable/time out

Also, for some reason, after resetting the camera to default settings, before even entering wifi details, or checking enable in wifi, I am still able to navigate to and ping the 2nd IP as default (192.168.1.12).

        • @Hazza: Ahhh. So I had almost completely given up. I had bought a cheap Netgear wifi extender a couple weeks back, thought why not lets just try that for fun. Set it up, extended the wifi, called the new SSID simple test, defaulted the camera and turned wifi on with DHCP and bam suddenly out of nowhere its working fine with the ethernet cable unplugged. Getting decent pings also using both IP's. So strange. Must be the two routers then.

I'm going to investigate more, extend the wifi's from both routers and set up a few cameras on the range extender and post back. So so strange.

Thanks for the help Hazza. Much appreciated

        • @thereisriceandcurry: Interesting. Looks like it wasn't connecting to the original access point properly. Are you using the same security (WPA2 etc) and password on the router and the extender?

        • @Hazza: That was my suspicion initially, that it wasn't connecting to the actual wifi router. Everything is exactly the same on the extender as it is on the original router, except the SSID which is "_EXT". The netgear utility sets up the extender so as to copy everything across exactly in terms of security and settings and password etc. I wonder what the issue could have been

Very strange, works flawlessly now. On both the routers, with the cameras connected to the extender extending the routers wifi.

I'll prob go back into officeworks and pick up a couple more of these extenders

        • @thereisriceandcurry: Yeah not sure about that one. Not to worry sounds like you found a good workaround. Might have been a bug in the original router. Maybe a firmware upgrade might have helped if it is an old model. No matter.

        • @Hazza: Yeah mate. All good now. Fluke try of the extender. Cheers for the help but.
Gotta admit, these little suckers are sooo friggin cool when u get em up n running. Have only messed around with the included software and recomended android app. Cant wait to get into iSpy and set em up everywhere.

  • Anyone get their Kmart cameras to work with this iPhone app?

    http://www.foscamapp.com/

    • I use IP Cam Viewer on my iPhone 6.

      • Thanks
Can you control the IR night vision lights?

        • Yes it works for IP900.
However because I chose generic camera setting for SC10IP, I cannot control the IR light, but it doesn't matter because my SC10IP is set to automatically switching on IR light when it is dark.

        • @edfoo: You should be able to set the IR setting from the web gui if you can't find an app that works with it. I assume the web gui works okay with iOS? Both the IP900 and SC10IP will automatically switch the IR leds off during daylight and on at night if IR is set to on (auto). So you won't need to change the default setting unless you don't want the IR leds to turn on at night.

        • @Hazza: Yes I am using their respective web UI to to adjust the settings. SC10IP has setting to alter its automatic IR light, but IP900 doesn't have the option of automatic IR light, it just has a manual button to switch on and off the IR light.

        • @edfoo: No that's not how it works. The IP900 has a light sensor just like the SC10IP. When the IR feature is in the on position the IR leds will automatically come on when the light sensor senses low/no light and turn off when it senses lots of available light. The difference when the IR feature is off, is that the LED's will not turn on even when the light sensor senses low/no light.

        • @Hazza: Hmm that's weird. In the web UI, when I switched the IR button on, the IR light stays on all the time no matter if the room is bright or dark. And when I switched the IR button off, the IR light stays off all the time.

        • @edfoo: I just checked all mine again and the IR leds definitely turn off like they are supposed to when there is no need for them to be on (ie lots of light). Its easy to see if you only shine a bit of light (torch or phone light) onto the light sensor which is in the top most position around the led ring. One of your cameras may have a stuffed light sensor.

        • @Hazza: Hazza, you are right again. I went back to check my IP900 in a dark room. I switched the IR light on in the setting, and the IR light came on. But when I shined a torch at it, I noticed the IR light went off.

        • @edfoo:

I'm wondering how much extra power the IR lights use when on compared to not on

I have auto switched off so if the camera is my in use its not wasting power on the IR lights it when I go to view it I turn lights on via app

        • @Twisty: I am not sure if anyone actually measure the power consumption on these cams with its IR light on. But like you said, it is good idea to leave it off, and only turn it on when you want to view it. Easy to do so with indoor IP900 cam, but to manually switch on-and-off the IR light in SC10IP you have to go into its setting menu to do so, a bit of PITA.

        • @Twisty: I tested this the other day using PoE switch and splitter. From memory it was around 2.7W without IR and 5.3W with IR. I can check once I have installed them at home.

        • @ruddj:

Sounds good look forward to your reply

      • Did you get that to work with the IP900? I could only get the indoor camera working with it

        • Err… IP900 is the indoor camera.

        • @edfoo: sorry reverse that, I can only get the ip900 working not the other one

  • For people attempting to set up the SC10IP with iSpy, my post on whirlpool might be helpful - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2362073&…

  • I have got few of those camera and I have some hard time get them to work. Any guide on how to install that kmart camera?

  • Anyone know how to turn off the green blinking light? I have the camera facing a glass window and the reflection from the green blinking light is making the alarm monitoring useless.

    thanks

    • Black masking tape?

    • Simply turn the light off in the web gui. Its the button next to the IR button.

      • Is that for the SC10IP? I should have noted my device, it's the IP900 and I don't see any IR button.
Here's what my interface looks like: http://imgur.com/TUPoArw

        • No it's for the IP900. The SC10IP doesn't have an indicator light. That's the wrong screen. The icons for the indicator light and the IR lights are in the main web gui window where the live video preview is. See the icons on the bottom right in this link, one of them is for the indicator. http://www.wanscam.com/cd/upfile/2013/09/28/20130928151332_7…

        • @Hazza: Thank you very much Hazza.

I was using the "Server push mode" for Chrome which didnt have that button/icon. When I used the Active X mode, I see it. Yay!

        • @jlim87: Awesome, no probs.

  • I had my SC10IP installed on the wall after setting up the Wifi (with a lot of troubles), then found the power extension cord isn't working well. So it was disconnected from powerpoint for a few days, and today I finally get time to put a new extension cord on, then I find it does not connect as before. I might have to bring the router and cable outside to find out why and setup it again, but once the settings are saved to flash, this should not happen.

    • The SC10IP is definitely a fussy camera compared to the IP900's. I had this happen once. Not sure why. Set it up again and see how it goes. If you have a laptop and cross cable you can plug directly into it and set it up without having to take your router etc outside. Though wouldn't it be easier to remove the camera from its mount and take it inside to set it up again?

  • Can anyone please help me. i have SC10ip which is lagging more than normal. Tried different android apps and pc applications but its still lagging after every 10 sec and live video gets held up for about 4 to 5 sec. I have reset the camera to factory settings and tried all other options as well including disabling unwanted enabled options like cloud, motion detection, auto recording etc.

The ip cam also lagging on its internet explorer view as well. Could anyone please give me an idea to fix this issue or any new firmware update or any other solutions?

I am just trying to set it up on an android device which is permanently connected to a monitor. Using ip cam viewer. Successfully managed to get the live video footage via rtsp link and via direct ip. but lag problem is still there.

Could it be a wifi issue or something else? any help would be highly appreciated. thanks

    • +1

As per my reply in Whirlpool, bring the camera next to your wifi access point, or even better plug it into ethernet, and see if the behaviour is the same. This will rule out (or in) wifi signal as being the cause.

      • I have power line adapter. Will try the cable first thing tomorrow. thanks

      • hi
just an update, the problem appeared to be solved. Looks like it was a bad wifi connection or signals interference. I have plugged it with Lan cable using power line adapter and streaming RTSP through android vlc player. Receiving lag free 720p video.

Thank you for your Help Hazza

        • No worries. Its always worth checking to see what other wifi networks may be in your area and setting your wifi channel to the one that is least used in your area.

        • @Hazza: Which program is best to check the wifi channels traffic in my area?
Also i have 2 wifi routers at home. Does both routers have to be on the same channel for best performance or different channels?

        • @mady123: InSSIDer was quite good, but I'm not sure if you can still get it for free /trial.
          Otherwise see http://alternativeto.net/software/inssider/.

If you have 2 Wifi Routers the main thing is to make sure they are configured correctly. I have 3 set up, each on a different channel but with the same SSID. If you re-purpose an old router make sure only the active one attached to your Internet is running a DHCP server

        • @ruddj:

i have 2 x powerline Dlink routers. One configured as Active with DHCP Server, 2nd one is just connected to 1st router but both routers have different SSID.

        • +1

@mady123: I use wifi analyser for android. Great app. There are lots of others though. Yep if you extend you can choose to use the same SSID or different. There are pros and cons to both. Same SSID is good for wifi offloads, but can cause problems if the signal overlaps and the device bounces between them or even worse gets stuck on the low signal strength one. Most important thing is to use different channels and use channels which do not have conflicting signals in their area.

        • @Hazza: Thanks again. Very helpful….

  • With the IP900, has anyone successfully gotten it to record video upon alarm trigger and upload to FTP? My FTP access test results is successful, but it doesnt seem to be doing it.

Also, I can't seem to be setting the alarm time interval less than 30 seconds. While doing a test, i walk to my front door, ring the door bell, stand for abit and walk off. I got the emails alarms to get sent to my inbox but these images aren't that useful as their quite spread out and it totally missed the face shot of me standing there. Are my settings wrong? http://imgur.com/oOi9H4W

    • I don't use that mechanism but what happens if you put 1 or 2 in the Upload Interval?

      • Doesn't make a difference if its 0,1 or 2. I guess uploading it to FTP isn't that much of a deal breaker for me.

Pretty happy I can remote in and can successfully receive email alerts with screenshots, but it isn't practical yet with these screenshots only happening once every 30 seconds once the motion detection is triggered. There's alot more stuff that happens within this 30 seconds which goes un-captured. :(

I haven't read much about iSpy, but is that any better? Does it require another computer on that network to be running that software for it to work? Hopefully not

        • Yeah so CMS, iSpy, BlueIris, and many of the DVR android apps etc are way way better as they are dedicated DVR software. You can do anything with them pretty much. Only problem is you need a computer or tablet/phone running the whole time that you require the alerting/recording.

  • I have my IP900 up and working now, not a bad camera for $19 but just wondering how long it will last?

Anyhow I've tried getting the wifi connection to work on it but I can't, works great with cable but once I setup wifi and unplug cable it won't connect

    • You have configured the wifi setting properly in its web UI right?

    • The IP900 is very reliable on wifi and very easy to setup. Are you using the default setting of DHCP or have you set a static IP? When you setup the wifi still with the ethernet plugged in, you should be able to ping both interfaces. Make sure the search tool can see both interfaces. Then when you disconnect the ethernet, the wifi should still be pingable.

  • Ok will try
Nah I could never set the a fixed IP remember, my issue with the DNS Server1

  • I bought another IP900 yesterday, setting it up now and it has a different Firmware and Web UI to my first one

    New IP900 has this -

    67.2.2.170
    9.0.4.63

First one I got has -

    67.2.128.13
    9.0.4.68

New one allows me to set the Fixed IP where the first one I got didn't. Kinda explains why I was having so much trouble setting the first one up as it came with a Port of 81 rather then 99 etc

    • That's right forgot you couldn't set static. Interesting with the firmware differences.

      Mine are all 67.2.2.180 - 9.0.4.70 except one which is 67.2.2.172 - 9.0.4.67

  • I have a few IP900's.

Using 7 different software packages and 4 browsers to set and control them including wanscam, ipclient.exe, oPlayer.msi, onlineplayback.rar, VideoClient(x86).exe, OnlinePlayback.rar, p2pipc.apk (wise man says: "google and you shall find !")

All works well except with the video recording to the SD card (using 32GB SHDC).

When SD gets full it stops recording and does not cycle over older recordings even though I set it up to cycle over older recordings.

Anyone got ideas on how to set it to CYCLE record properly ? What is proper format for SD card : fat32 ? exfat32 ? ntfs ?

    • So you have ticked the 'Record Coverage' setting? And formatted the card from inside the camera? To get it to overwrite this needs to be selected in the gui. I have it selected and my recordings keep overwriting like a FIFO (first in first out). I found it best if you format the card in the camera (FAT32).

Record coverage: Delete old files when the SD card is nearly full.

      • Thanks for reply. Yes, I clicked the "record cover" setting and I formatted card with fat32 using both windows and the wanscam sofware.

What software do you use to set the camera's settings/parameters ?

I found that each package works for some things and doesnt work for others.

        eg.

VideoClient(x86).exe is best for viewing / moving camera (this is a bit fancier - shopping center management software)

OnlinePlayback.rar is best for video playback

Wanscam is what I use to set the camera parameters.

The software (ipclient) that comes on the CD with the camera doesn't work (well it didn't on windows 8.1).

        • Don't use extra software to set the camera's settings. Simply use the camera's inbuilt web gui. Its designed for one purpose, to work 100% with the camera.

I find BlueIris is by far the best for PC software in all facets and IP Cam Viewer for Android.

        • @Hazza:

BlueIris….WTF ? Where did you come up with that one. lol.

Thanks, i'll check it out when i find it.

        • @flint: Haha. Its very well known in the industry, but it isn't free. iSpy is a good free alternative.

        • @flint:

Found another possible error with the camera software:

if your password is exactly 16 characters (max characters allowed) it gives an

          var result="Auth Failed";

error (as noted in message at bottom of web browser) when trying to set parameters using the IE web browser with the Active X control.

Bummer. This could be one source of all the problems i've been having

          see thread here http://www.openipcam.com/forum/index.php?topic=629.0

        • @flint: Might depend on firmware version. But there are a couple of minor bugs with these camera's, even brand name cameras have bugs though. Its a bit of a pain that some of the mechanisms work with a 16 char password (logging in, live viewing etc) but not others. Good find.

        • @Hazza:

          Update:

Well, it seems it was the password bug that got me. Just did a settings update in the sd card recording section using IExplorer/ActiveX and the Camera seems to be recording over old stuff - weird.

          Thanks Hazza.

        • @flint: Nice work. That was all you bud.

        • @Hazza: I wish there was a good Linux based app. As mentioned before, i'm currently using 'Motion' on a Raspberry Pi2 with 2 usb camera's. I am trying to replace these camera's with the 2 sc10ip's i purchased. the camera's work well (through cms/gui, ect) but they don't seems to work too well through Motion. It appears the use of rtsp isn't too 'acceptable' yet.
          http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/SupportQuestio…

  • You guys with IP900 camera's take note that there is a focus ring on the front of the camera. I noticed one of my IP900's had a softer picture than the others, so I adjusted the focus with the focus ring and its good now. Don't forget when focusing for close objects, far objects won't be in focus and vice versa, so focus for the scene.

  • Mine gets really laggy after a while when played on the phone app - is this normal?

  • One of my IP900 has started making a sound like a fire engine horn and all on its own

    WTF is going on???

    • Your house is on fire alert? You should really go home and have a look now

    • Haha.. you sure you don't have the alarm mechanism set? There is a setting to 'Sound the Alarm'. Not used it myself but it could be that.

PS - Twisty, I worked out a solution for your older firmware cameras that will allow you to still be able to set the IP address as a static.

      • Great
Let me know what it is mate

And yes it was the motion sensor alarm going off

Also anyone else having a issue with their camera IP900 going back to the preset factory postion?

Is this a case of The IP900 rebooting itself and going back to its preset or just going to preset without rebooting?

I notice this today when I checked the cameras on the phone app and notice one of them was not in its position I left it in

        • Yes these cameras go back to their default position after a reboot unless you set it to go to one of your presets. Because these cameras reboot everyday or thereabouts, you need to set up a preset and in the gui tell it to go to that preset. Its in the PTZ setting under call preset on boot in the gui. So set your required view to preset 1 and then call preset 1 on boot.

Okay so I went to a friends to setup some of these cameras for him (4 IP900's and 2 SC10IP's), and I noticed straight away that the majority of his IP900's were the older firmware so the DNS Setting 1 input box on the static ip gui was missing. I really wanted everything set up as statics so I figured out a workaround by using the search tool (it comes on the cd) to set the static IP address. Works like a charm.

        • @Hazza:

          Thanks mate

Why do they reboot everyday ? My foscam don't do this

Also, as I said above one of my IP900 keeps sounding the alarm sound which is really annoying as its loud

I don't have the motion sensor alarm on so why is it doing this?

Any fix you know of mate?

        • @Twisty: I am not sure if its everyday or every couple of days, but I think its a programmed thing to make sure it stays reliable. I notice the SC10IP has the same thing, although its weekly, and its able to be turned off in the gui. The IP900 does not have the option in the gui with the firmware versions I have. When I was doing research on the rebooting I noticed plenty of people having the same issue with the Foscam that this is a clone of (Foscam FI8918W).

As I said above, its usually settable through the gui. So you have turned all the alarming functionality off and its still alarming? Did your camera do this from the first time you powered it up? Maybe try factory reset and start again with it.

  • Nah it didn't
I keep playing around with it
Wish we could find a firmware update for these IP900

  • Hi, I finally tried to get the camera working but I cant even see it on my router.. The lights on the ethernet port are solid. Shouldnt there be one flashing light?

    • Which model are you using? Check out the youtube videos if you have the outdoor model (see earlier links on page 1). The port lights should change colour or flash when plugged in.

  • Has anyone succeeded in getting the SC10IP to work with any dvr software? Mine works with iSpy on my pc but the frame rate is only around 7-10 fps and is badly pixelated and slow/laggy.

The picture looks great on the CMS software, but I don't seem to be able to make it record by alarm trigger using CMS. Also the main page does not retain the individual cameras associated with each camera window. Each time I restart the program, all the windows are back to the default 'H.264 DVR' tiles. That is not helpful if the computer needs to reboot. The recorded files are also in .h264 format which is unknown to me.

I also tried NetCam Studio X but can't figure out how to add the cameras.

    Any suggestions or help anyone?

  • Has anyone attempted installing/running BlueIris or iSpy on the Raspberry Pi2 running Windows iOT?? I'm over trying to get Motion (Linux) to run successfully with H264/rtsp.

  • Can anyone point me towards extension cords (power) for the SC10IP, that work? I read someone couldn't get their 12V extension cord to work? Can I pick them up at Jaycar? I really need them this weekend.

  • When can I get a cheap extension cord for indoor version? I bought a 5M one on ebay and it turns out to be for the outdoor cam.

  • So I got these working throughout my house and they are great (the outdoor ones). It was hard to set them up (and I had to use a PC to set them up, impossible on a Mac), but for the money they are amazing. The one issue I have is that the OSD seems to have Chinese lettering on it (on 3 of them anyway), the 4th either has new firmware or the image looks like if could be zoomed in for some reason). Anyway basically next to the date and time, there are some Chinese letters on 3 of the 4 cameras. Any idea how to shut it off?

  • Btw these cameras are not 720p as advertised, they are running at a resolution of 704*576 through the VLC stream, with everything maxed out.
