I think this is really good deal.
Good luck guys.

terrible failure rates of the 2tb Seagates
I've had mine a year and it's actually just started to fail. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting throughout the day. Looks like I need to invest in a better brand or start using the cloud.
Whelp, this is now happening as soon as I discovered this deal.
2tb worth of files dating back 10 years.
What brand drive? The one in this deal?
Thought it was apparent. But yeah it is.
uh its not the deal above - it shows a WD drive which I thought was to highlight a point that no brand is really better than the other - its just luck on failure rates.
Well my first thought was that your drive is failing and this was perfect timing for you to have this deal appear :P
NVM
Oops, I do apologise! It's part of it's failure. I have Seagate, WD & Samsung plugged into my computer. It's the Seagate that's failing, but shows a WD picture when reconnecting to the computer.
Use some initiative. How do you put your panties and bra on in the morning all by yourself? It's absolutely remarkable.

Wouldn't it be a bit weird if someone else had to do it for me?
I've got a 4TB Seagate GoFlex which I've only had for over 2 years and have just died…
My 2TB Seagate Expansion failed last week.
The top of the box says there is a 3 year limited warranty.
Surely you can make a warranty claim if the hard drive fails within 3 years.
It really annoys me how much these externals costs but internals are exactly the same with less work involved costs more :( #allHardDrivesAreBeautiful
Sure you could crack them open not sure how that would go for warranty though.
It would not go well…
Officeworks are unlikely to price-match a 'coupon' price. 99 times out of 100 they'll only match the advertised print or web price, which is $105.63. (so you'll likely get it for about $100)
You might get lucky if you strike a store manager in a good mood, but I wouldn't count on it.
I completely agree with you, Bazzaa.
See below:
What items are excluded from the LPG?
Non identical products and services (inclusive of non identical warranties)
Package deals i.e. printer and computer bundles
Cash back and coupon offers
Resellers

Competitor clearance products
Officeworks reserves the right to limit the quantity of products available for price-matching at its discretion. The Lowest Price Guarantee does not extend to resellers.
Totally with you bazaa
Thanks OP.
Now someone who is tech savvy: I want to use this disk as a backup of all media I have on another drive. Is there an easy way to do this automatically? I don't want it to copy the full disk every time. Just the new files to be added to the backup. Thanks in advance
You want to do copy just the incremental changes after the initial backup?
If you're a windows user, use something like Synctoy.
Yes, incremental changes. I will look up Synctoy. Thanks
I use Rsync
Mac: use Time Machine
Windows: I don't use Windows normally, but I'm pretty sure it has a built in backup or file history feature.
I use Windows. I tried a few times but it started backing up from scratch. May be doing it the wrong way.
OW does not price-beat coupon discounts.
You can get this for $104.22 with midweek25 code

Good reviews on the Toshiba?
Yep I've had a toshiba for about a year, maybe longer and I use it on a torrent laptop as the download folder so that things running and working 24-7. Runs perfectly. Compact and neat.
Can you use the Midweek25 code twice? I wanted to grab two of the drives.
Edit
Just logged out of my user account and could purchase the second unit.
Expired also $148 now before code
sorry guys, I didn't know about OW terms on price match.
But $80 still good for me, I did research and compare this one with WD, but the more read the more confused.
So I think I just go with it :)
These are great backup drives. I store mine offsite. Odds of a seagate backup drive failing at the same time as internal hdds failing, well that just bad luck.
$20 more and you get the Tosh, which is portable :) Just to confuse you a bit more
Yep the toshi doesn't have that horrible brick power supply and it uses less energy. Depends on what you want it for.
Now I'm just gonna mess with your mind a bit more. I know amazon is expecting stock back in on 3rd June of their 5TB external for US$129 plus postage. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TKFEEBW/ref=ox_sc_act_ti… It comes up as more at the moment, but if you wait a few days it should be back again. I have one on order and that's their stock eta.
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-STB… ,how bout this one?. or not…
Ahhhh … :)
It's cool thanks. Bought the 2TB already. Besides, I personally need it for travel so need the portable version
This is an awesome price though
Thanks
LOL i just sold my one on ebay for $100+ like a 2 weeks ago … feel kinda bad for the buyer
Deal is expired.
too many mixed reviews of the product. warranty only one year.
I just called to cancel my order as it turns out this won't work with other devices (PVR, Smart TV, etc) without performing a mod which voids the warranty.
It involves opening it up and cutting some traces on the PCB.
http://www.productreview.com.au/r/seagate-expansion-external… (There is another review from the same guy on the DSE page)
does it work with Media Player with Kodi/Helix installed? Never think of this problem before.
you get what you pay for… pay a bit more and you get a bit more quality. I suppose that's how Hard drives work eh?
my 3TB seagate died last week………….I probably shouldnt have cracked it open to test it as an internal drive SOB
but my 2 TB and 1TB seagates/WD are still going strong after being on 24x7 3 years plus
Have read reviews regarding the terrible failure rates of the 2tb Seagates. The 3tb and 4tb versions are apparently fine.
