Loud Speaker Kit 20% off

71
PRE9457

In preparation for new stock coming in about a month, LSK are letting some of their high quality speakers that are still in stock out with a 20% discount.

The M4's are given a positive review on dansdata back in 2002 when they were $200, and Dan is trustworthy when it comes to such things. I've already bought two of them since they only come to ~$103.20 each including shipping.

The rest of the stock is also top notch, practical stuff. It's all kits - you have to build them yourself, but it's fairly easy and all you need is some decent glue.

  • I can vouch for Dan (from Dansdata) writing quality/trustworthy reviews.
I'm going to buy a set of these.

I dunno - considering they're just a kit of mdf and the tech stuff - you make them yourself so I don't see how they can warranty them (or plenty of room to wriggle out of it). Seem very over priced compared to speakers I've seen available at various online hifi places (and I don't mean cheapo ebay ones).

I do like the idea of building them myself, but I reckon they should be a lot cheaper than that to want to justify it.

Pretty meagre website too - some speakers don't even have pictures! I'd want to see what they look like.

    • I'm interested in these better priced various online hifi places sets.

      • http://www.eastwoodhifi.com.au/specials.htm (not sure if they're in store or available for delivery)
        http://www.justklapp.com
http://www.excelhifi.com.au/ (though their site is down at the moment)

I've just started looking in this range and it seems most specialist hifi places have stuff they are clearing out (probably just a sales tactic).

I'd rather buy a name brand set of speakers that I can find multiple reviews of, than a kit of unknown value and performance (and a 7 year old review).

        • LSK do not do regular specials. I've been on their mailing list for quite a while.

And forgive me if I trust the most honest and knowledgeable electronics reviewer in Australia over you on the value of these kits :P

Dan has reviewed the M4s, F5s, M6s & F6 Mark IIs - although two of those he got Mark Cocquio to review.

I might change my mind if you gave me actual examples of well reviewed speakers at better prices instead of just a couple of specials pages.

          • @[Deactivated]: Just because they're on special does not mean they're a bargain (particularly in the hifi world - seems like the Persian rug business).

I admit I don't know a lot about this, so I wasn't suggesting you trust me. I was comparing name brands/models like Mission and Yamaha (on the EastwoodHiFi specials page) which you could find multiple reviews of, to a place that may be worthy, but has no evidence of it beyond one web sites reviews (could be his brother in law for all I know). Their site is a bit short on information, even photo's, which is not confidence inspiring.

Compare the site to this one (which does kits): http://www.adelaidespeakers.com - a much better site

@wfdTamar: I'm sorry, but a negative vote generally means "not a bargain", so that's what I assumed.

You voted negative because you don't like the web page? Wow.

EDIT And yeah, the suggestion that Dan Rutter might be doing a dodgy on that product is kind of hilarious if you know anything about him. I'd trust him over CNet, goodgearguide, and the majority of magazines any day of the week.

              • @[Deactivated]: I voted negative because based on the information available I don't think they're a bargain. Even if they are good performing speakers they're still not a bargain because they're a kit and unfinished naf MDF. The kits ain't cheap (even at 20% off).

                • @wfdTamar: Again, I'm interested in exactly what you think would be a cheaper equivalent.

  • It looks like the M4 speaker kit has doubled in price since this morning. Lucky I ordered in time.
They are now selling at $258 ea before coupon discount.

    • Bugger, they were the best deal there.

      Glad I got two :)
