      I'm pretty sure they will get law enforcement involved to try and hunt down the crooks. Theft is theft.

  • I ordered mine at 9:00am 23/5/15 and haven't received any pdf voucher or excel sheet. I know someone received the excel sheet and checked it. My name is not on it.
    Anybody else hasn't received anything from Woolworths yet?

    • I haven't received anything yet from Woolworths. Ordered 3 different batches all under the same email address/groupon account.

        Looks like we will be back of the queue while they sort out the fiasco with the first batch.

  • So just got off the phone querying the whereabouts of my egift cards, they told me they will probably get it sorted by end of COB tomorrow, but my main concern to them is the breach of privacy. So they took my details and someone from their legal dept would give me a call. Not sure what will be the outcome but definitely not too happy about my details out there somewhere.

  • So I had a message from my local store saying they have an answer for me. They read like a statement about personal details and how it didn't include an address etc only name and email address and said if I purchased 5 or more vouchers that they would take care of the refund process/replacement for me. As I only purchased 4 it is on me to call up (if/when I can get through to the support line) to report my cards to them and get it processed that way.

    WTF. 5 or more is done automatically and 4 or less you have to lodge it?

    This was read to me from a statement given to Big W to tell customers. It included Groupon as the initial seller/supplier of the gift cards.

    Maybe this is why we haven't got anything yet? I was told the ETA was 1-2 days from today for the people who ordered 5 or more. Now I have to call this number and try and get this sorted (again).

        received my egiftcard this morning when i check my email, went to big W to buy heater with the egiftcard i purchased $200.

        Rejected !!!

        Staff from big W received a memo stating that the gift card issued between 28 may to 30 may cancelled IF the group on member purchased more than 5

        i only purchased 1 off $200, but still being declined…. SUPER TERRIBLE… i want my money back now from Groupon…. hardly believe this happen.

        • From what I was told, ALL of the gift cards on the leaked spreadsheet have been cancelled. The 5 or more applies to them being re-issued automatically.

          I wouldn't be surprised there is some big communication error with this as my local had to re-read the statement. They first said I would get mine tomorrow and then checked as I only purchased 4 and said I need to call up to get it sorted.

          I've spent so much time on the phone to my local and trying to get through to these emergency numbers as well as talking to the store in person. There is absolutely no talk on compensation for anyone in regards to the stuff up and as stated earlier, if you purchased less than 5 it's up to you to call up and get it sorted.

          If anyone from Woolies/Big W has a copy of the actual statement could you post it?

          Give Woolworths some time to reissue the GC. There are a lot to go through and they are triple checking (probably) to ensure no further stuff ups. It's the weekend and its damage control mode now. They may not have the right manpower to do things quickly. We all live in our own little bubble but Woolworths is probably doing their best to get through this mess.

    • When you received the first lot were they in one email? I am concerned because I ordered two and first time around they were in the one email. I just received a replacement but only for one and not the other.

      • I received five gift cards in one email initially but on this resend i've received four of the gift cards over two emails and still waiting for one more gift card.. I'm patient, glad they are sorting this all out for us and going to see what happens over the next 24 hours..

    • Probably did go through the balances before re-issuing. That would explain why it took this long. Would be surprised if they did not get law enforcement involved. Surely they would have had to report this sort of thing.

      • maybe they can't do anything because it wouldn't be classified as stealing. Since woolworths gave you all those cards, it's not like you stole that information?
        I don't know.. it just doesn't sit right by me that people "stole" and are getting away with it.. or so it seems at this stage.

        • Thats like finding a phone on a bus, keeping it and saying its not stealing because you didn't pick pocket anyone or hold anyone at knife point. Same thing with banks when banks accidentally deposit $5000 into your account, if you spend that money, you're expected to pay it back.

          I don't know the legality but I do wonder why they aren't pursuing it first before just reissue everyone giftcards. There must be some obvious criminal acts where they redeem a few 000's within the space of say 10mins from the same store?

          Surely that would be easy to catch.

          Your phone example isn't really relevant to this case, the bank one is though.

        • How are unauthorised purchases from someone else's GCs not theft? They should be able to track the lowlives down using IP addresses, emails which included the excel file, in-store cameras and register GC entries etc.

        • But someone did steal, they stole from the person or persons the cards(s) were assigned to.

          Maybe they are going to re-issue (I have nothing yet) then have it chased up. Reclaim both stolen cards plus the value of the re-issued ones from whoever is responsible.

          Pretty sure they have to report this sort of thing to law enforcement whether they want to or not. Besides it would be an internal investigation any way. So I don't see why they would need to go public.

          Point is, whether you found the item/money or was accidently given it to you and you know it doesn't belong to you, using/keeping the item/money is stealing. Just because you didn't steal the gift cards/phone/items by hacking or taking it from peoples pockets/wallets without their permission, doesn't mean it's not stealing- so imo, the phone example is relevant.

          One user here has already been threatening and has been encouraging others to threaten Groupon/WW via Paypal disputes. Perhaps thats one of the reasons why?

          @Ughhh: I have nothing against WOW here, yes its a honest mistake. But all I am concerned is about super dodgy Groupon, who never sent WOW group Gift Cards on time, last time I got it after almost 12 business days (advertised as 2-4 Business days). This time again it took almost a week again, when I order from Entertainment Book I get the voucher within 3-6 hours and sometimes even within the hour.

          Also Groupon posted yeterday evening on their support Website and on Paypal disputes that the re-issed cards have already been sent out ! Why do such dodgy things, just to protect themselves from a Paypal freeze on their account. They are multi Billion $ company for God's sake, at least have some standards. I am still going ahead with my dispute as the deal timelines were breached and I had got the Gift Cards for the BigW Friends and Family sale. I will wait to hear back from Groupon as they are the merchant/sellers here and WOW is just a 3rd party, if there is indeed a buyer and seller agreement here, its between the buyer (us) and Groupon. Groupon got all of our info and transmitted it to WOW and they leaked it, so even if a lawsuit comes up, I think it will be very difficult for any end user to lay blame on Woolworths directly.

    Best that you change your email passwords to a strong one as there is now a list of emails out there that someone with the right tools can hack into.

      A list of emails has now been leaked. If your email password isn't strong, the person with the list of emails could be trying to gain access into the email accounts which has more re-issued GCs in it and spend it without you knowing it.

      The GCs being sent via email aren't secure. Do what you can to keep your hard earned safe.

      Includes passwords like "123456", "password", "12345", "12345678" and "qwerty" making up the top five.

      So as amts says, if you have a simple password like this you might want to change it.

    • Yep that's what I'm thinking. The cards that have been used will be fully investigated before new cards are issued.

  • Well…. I ordered 5 x $200 and I DIDN'T get the spreadsheet attachment NOR have I had ANY of my egift cards reissued!
    AND I had full balance on them!

    Any more conspiracy theories out there?

    • When did you check the balances on them? It's only later on that some clowns started going on shopping sprees with other ppl's money. Also did you open a PayPal dispute or any thing like that?

      • Checked balances around noon on 30th…so maybe some prick used them after then!

        No PayPal dispute as yet…will see what eventuates!

  • I did not use any of my BigW eGift Cards (3 X $100) and got all of them in one e-mail. So probably can confirm the lolifes had not used mine.

    Did anyone who actually used their own cards, got new cards re-issued. Woolies is doing the right thing on not sending out the used cards immediately. Probably if they were used for online orders for for buying physical gift cards, it will be easier for them to cancel them and then reissue new E Gift Cards, will be subscribed in the thread and see how it goes.

      It is absolutely amazing that they have not bothered to advise people directly that their names and emails addresses have been inadvertently give out. That is the least that they should do! I am sure that some people don't know this.

      • Probably acting upon legal counsel advice. I suppose they've been told about rule number 1, which is to never admit fault!

    So basically I got what I ordered, but there's evidence of a massive screw up on their end.

    EDIT: just saw the round of e-mails in my Junk folder about the screw up. Seems Groupon are blaming Wish gift cards, and Wish gift cards are being very diplomatic and calling it a technical error. (profanity) you, Groupon.

    • It is WW's fault. It's not Groupon who are sending out the GCs.
