Norinco JW-15A .22LR Rifle - $199 @ Cleaver Firearms (QLD)

720

These Norinco rifles are actually a Chinese produced copy of the Czech .22 LR Brno ZKM-451, itself a modernized variant of the popular CZ 452 rimfire rifle. They are very accurate for the money! Most retailers have these up around (and over) $300. Pair this with the Bushnell Banner 3–9x40mm for $88 for a truly remarkable setup for next to nothing.

  • Yeah, because ALL of them are illegal…

nice deal, if only i still had my gun licence.

    • +15

I don't need a licence to own my guns. I was born with them.

      • +11

        I wish i had arms.

        • nuclear arms

        • +2

          bear arms?

        • @douglasb:
          You're right!

        • @douglasb: I have the right to bear arms. Not sure how they'd look.

        • @Utopian:

Pretty hairy, I imagine. I suggest that they're unlikely to be a hit with the ladies! :-)

      • all i need are my fore arms for playing with my loaded weapon

    • +1

I missed out on the chinese lockpick set. But this chinese gun should do the job.

    • *Firearms License

  • +2

Can confirm they are a well made copy. Good value at this price from a trusted dealer. These also have a threaded barrel if you want to attach something to them…

    • +6

He means a muzzle brake people!

    • +8

      like… an oil filter?

      • +1

        or a 600ml drink container ;)

  • +33

Mindblowing deal. Might give this a shot. Hope I don't miss out.

  • What are these .22 rimfires good for? Foxes, but not pigs, I'm guessing?

    • Rabbits, plinking, that's about it.

      • +1

        shooting empty cans, target shooting,

    • yeah foxes, rabbits, hares anything else needs to be a headshot and close by

      • So how much land do I need to get a license?
I suspect foxes threatening my 1/4 acre backyard chooks is not going to cut it.

With a $250 license fee, then $50/year, and an expensive cabinet needed, this is not looking so cheap.
        What is a "noting fee"?

        • +1

          *licence

Licence/license and practice/practise are noun and verb forms respectively. They follow the same rules as advice and advise.

Also, does anyone actually know how big an acre is?

          Pet peeves of mine…:)

        • +2

@asdffdsa: Better look after your pets, there are people with guns running around!

        • +5

          @asdffdsa:

You may be surprised that the English language is fluid, and has no official rules. (Unlike German or French.) Both spellings are in common usage.

does anyone actually know how big an acre is?

A chain by a furlong of course :-)
"Quarter-acre" is the common size for an older block around here. It is just over 1000m ˆ2, so dead easy to remember.

        • +1

@asdffdsa: Yet you still understood, just fine. Time for a hobby.

      • anything else needs to be a headshot and close by

Could you actually even kill a wild pig a couple of metres away, if you shot it in the head with a .22?

    • +1

      Zombies

    • Perfect for rabbits using subsonic rounds as to try and conceal your presence. Wouldn't be that effective beyond 100m.

    • When hunting pigs with dogs, one of us in the group will carry a rifle, usually a cheap 22 or 22mag incase one of the dogs get injured you can kill the pig quickly. A 22 to the head at point blank drops them.

But others have said, usually just rabbits and Foxes. Or a bit of plinking etc

Thinking of pulling the trigger on this one

    • +2

      Time for bargain hunting!

  • +11

Personally I'm not a happy seeing a gun deal being highlighted on the front page yet people like myself can click the Hide button.

    • +10

Pity I can't do the same with the various religious car stickers I see every day….

    • +7

May I ask what would offend you about a gun deal so much you need to shield yourself from it?

      • +4

Because no one should be able to legally own a firearm, or at least they think.

I bet they don't turn off the news when there is a new shooting with firearms obtained illegally though.

        • I'm not against legally owned firearms, I'm just against the up voting (and subsequent marketing) of a deal for them on a popular Australian website. OzBargain can have a ripple effect sometimes, this website now has over 1100 clicks from us alone.

        • +4

          @DrStinge:
I clicked the link to have a look and found they were selling .308 rounds much cheaper than my 'go to' gun store. The purpose of this site is to find deals for everyone and hopefully save the members a dollar or two and this time it was certainly the case for me.

        • @That Guy:

This is true and that's a good thing. I suppose as a middle ground the deal could perhaps only show for those who are logged in and 18+.

      • +5

May I ask what would offend you about a gun deal so much you need to shield yourself from it?

Because to those people guns are magical devices that go "boom", they don't understand how they work, have never fired one and would like to see police officers armed with flowers.

        • Thanks for your input. /s

My post was a reflection that whilst we don't all agree with it we can choose not to view it as opposed to Reporting it. It was a moderation of two worlds.

        • Reporting it isn't an option.
No need to interfere with law-abiding citizens, that are doing nothing to trouble you.

    • +4

I'm not a gun owner and have a close stance to you however there are legitimate reasons to own one so I think the current system is working - required to get a licence, no semi automatic weapons etc..

If I lived outside of a city where emergency services were a long drive away I would most certainly get a fire arm.

People on farms that need to cull pests such as wild pigs and rabbits.

      • This. Out in the bush, pigging is very common. Those wild boars are such an issue for farmers.

  • +3

Ive had one for 10 years now they only came in wood stock back then and still going strong. Cant beat the value of these rifles and the scopes a good price also.
    Highly recommend.

  • Nice selection of guns available from them, shame most of us won't be able to own and use any of them. I thought a Glock 19 would be asking for $2000 in Australia but nice to see it can be bought for $1000 (still nearly double the price in US). Anyway these Norinco rifle appears to be a great value rifle for the farmers to take out those pesky little vermins.

    • +1

Unfortunately you can't even legally own the Glock 19 in standard specs unless you have a security licence

  • +4

Interesting. I wonder what it takes to purchase small magnets ;)

  • love the butthurt comments from people.

  • Now we need another deal for free ammunition…dammit where are my samples !!

  • +19

For the sake of the children we need to ban gun posts
    …also knife posts

Don't mean to be a killjoy - but Peanuts, they're killers too -> childhood choke hazard, fatal anaphylaxis
And Cola …obesity, diabetes -> premature mortality
Not meaning to go overboard here but, maybe it's time to ban supermarket posts!

And that obsession with eneloops - can't be healthy - yes, Ive got Dickie in my sights as well

    • +14

Don't forget car deals. They also require a license to operate and kill lots of people every year.

    • +6

Difference I suppose is only one of these was DESIGNED to kill.

      • @tommyc: A knife?

      • They are designed to protect!

        • +5

I thought they were designed to cut

        • @Justtip:
          also pierce

        • @Justtip: That was the axe, knives were designed for killing and dissection.

        • "They are designed to protect (by killing)." Fixed that for you.

        • @gizmojo:
When you stab a zombie in the face, is it really killing?

        • +1

@blahman: Yes, just like stabbing unicorns and fairies.

        • @blahman:

I suppose not, as (A) technically a Zombie is already dead and (B) they don't exist. (…or do they?.)

      • -3

        THIS!

Wake up guys. Guns have no other purpose but to kill hence it differs from everything else ever mentioned.
        Period

        • One could maim with one instead, if they wanted to!

Also, sports. (But probably different models).

        • +6

Sounds like you've been napping buddy. Rifles, pistols and shotguns are all used at the Olympics for … wait for it … sport.

          Period

Was that supposed to be a full stop or are you just letting us know where you're up to in your menstrual cycle?

        • +1

@Roscoe99: tough guy behind a keyboard

        • +2

Not to argue Havok44, but guns also have the purpose of the sport of target shooting.
Its as old as man virtually and an Olympic sport.

        • +2

          @havok44:

Tough enough to hit the shift key on my keyboard but wouldn't call myself a tough guy.

Hope you've learnt now that guns have other uses apart from killing and just because you don't like them doesn't make them illegal.

        • +1

@havok44: The irony of a confrontational post online. No guns for you.
