my waiting has paid off mate
      grabbed one overnight charger

    • +2

Is the Aldi charger a quick charger like the Eneloop quick charger or just a standard charger?

  • +3

    Eneloops
    Mobile Boost Powerbank $10
Triple AAA pack of 8 $14.98
    Family pack of batteries $39
Overnight Charger with 4x AA batteries $15
Eneloop AA Tropical pack of 8 $14.98

    ALL NORMAL PRICE…

    • +2

      ALL NORMAL PRICE…

      yeah… during a sale…

      • the everyday sale.

        • +2

I could've sworn I saw it at full price just a couple of days ago…

        • +2

@ProjectZero: they were all full price yesterday when i checked

    • +1 because it is the "normal" sale price….but they occiasionally are the full price (when I go to check normally).

    • Actually there was an instore promotion for the family pack of Dick Smith AA batteries was something like $10 with purchase of X amount. RRP $33 for AA and $28 for AAA

  • When I waw "Eneloop Mobile Charger $9.98", I thought "At last, now I can charge my Eneloops from my car's cigarette-lighter socket". Clicked on the bargain, to find it's only a powerbank. Disappointed.

Anyone know a good mobile (12V powered) battery charger? The only one I know of is the LaCrosse BC500, but it's a bit expensive (AU$40 from B&H). And I'm not sure if it uses dV/dT detection for end-of-charge, manual doesn't mention it.

    • +3

You could get a USB eneloop charger, then plug it into a cheap car socket - USB converter.

      • I like that idea. I've just had a look at USB NiMh chargers, like this one:
        http://www.buyincoins.com/item/214.html

But I can't find any that have a decent charge circuit, with dV/dT charge termination. Know of any good USB chargers?

Nitecore D2 can run on 12v with the right cable, should be under $30 at gearbest/banggood. They also have a D4 if you want 4 slots (these use -dv/dt).

I4 and I2 is not recommended for nimh, it does not use -dv/dt

XTAR VC4 will too, but the VC2 does not work with nimh at all. If you have a cig lighter socket for an android tablet of around 2.1 amps that should run the XTAR just fine.

Opus BC3100 v2.1 or later is OK too, cheapest I know of is at gearbest.

        • @Tuba:
Thanks for that. I see the Nitecores have been listed here on OzBargain a few times in the last year, so I'll wait for the next bargain. I was surprised that the D2 and D4 do dv/dt, I had previously thought they didn't, but I checked again, and you are correct. Oddly, Nitecore's website does mention it, not in the text, but only in a picture - so a Google search won't reveal it!

That overnight charger is the most basic charger.

    according to official site.

Basic charger - BQ CC18 - For occasional users <— the one on sale
Advanced Charger - BQ CC17 - For frequent users
Smart & Quick charger - BQ CC16 - For heavy users

  • Am I right in saying that all the eneloops listed and sold by DSE now are the cina made ones? If so, what are the main differences between the japanese made ones and the china made ones?

    • +2

That's correct. Some people have said the China made Eneloops don't hold as much charge and/or don't achieve the same recharge counts. The Eneloop Pros are still made in Japan.

      • Cheers mate, might wait for the pros to go on sale then… don't need them that urgently lol

    • +1

The Rouge (reds and pink tones)) and UOMO (blacks and silver tones etc) packs are the last of their Japanese stocks, apart from Pro.

Chinaloops have been tested to fail badly around 400 cycles. While the Japanese versions still kick on after 800.

  • Couple questions about the overnight charger:
    - Does it charge AAA size too?
    - Is it a smart charger? or will it ruin the batteries?

    • +1

Not a smart charger, its a dumb and slow one. It will charge AAA using the second row of negative terminals. It may run the risk of overcharging if left on for too long. It may appear to be using an x hour inbuilt timer (i.e. charges for ?nknown hours straight once turned on).

      • Thanks. Not really worth it then.

        • +4

Go to eBay or gearbest / DX / focalprice and look for a nitecore i2 or i4 series. They are very good value chargers, will also charge any size of batteries and also Li-ion chemistry.

          E.g https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/nitecore-i4

Its less than $20 bucks for a smart charger that can individually charge and monitor batteries.

          Or use the Aldi one
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194234

        • @scrimshaw: So the Aldi one is a smart charger for Eneloops? I haven't joined the Eneloop bandwagon yet… and I don't think I can call myself an OZB member till I buy some :|

And I should hold off from buying these Eneloops now I guess…since they are the Made in CH ones?

        • @scrimshaw:
The I series are not recommended for nimh despite being one of their functions. The D series is fine though, ie: Nitecore D2. I series does not use -dv/dt, the D series do.

Aldi on is probably OK, it uses -dv. but not dt.

dicks? what no coupon codes? :P

    • I was waiting for some coupons too during the last two weeks while the pebble watch was down to $105 😧

  • Thoughts on the Eneloop powerbank deal? Anyone used it before?

    Guess who's back, back again
Mobile Booster's back, tell a friend
    Guess who's back,
    guess who's back,
    guess who's back,
    guess who's back
    guess who's back
    guess who's back…

    • Yes it's backkkkkkkkk

  • +1

You should put the overnight charger with 4AA in the title before someone does another post.
Not often it's click & collect for $15.00.

  • It seems they've updated their product images for Eneloops. They're all 65%. Made in China?

  • +1

    postage kills it

  • +1

Eneloop AA Tropical pack of 8 $14.98 - No click and collect. Delivery $7.95. Not worth it.

    • Yeah probably not if you're only buying one 8-pack at a time, although even with the postage it's still a lot cheaper than the non-sale price.
I bought 2x8 AA's and 2x8 AAA's at a previous sale so postage dropped to 2 bucks a pack. They also sent the batteries in a box measuring about 12 inch by 10 inch by 8 inch too lol… not bad for 32 batteries.

  • Fujitsu AA 10 battery pack for $1… not bad for those low drain devices like remotes and clocks that you aren't going to put eneloops in.

    • +1

You don't use eneloops in your remotes and clocks?! O_O

  • is the nokia 532 or 435 good? I want to get 1 for my dad, just a basic phone, so we can skype or viber and good battery life(he lives overseas).

    Thank you, guys

    • I was wondering the same thing. Why would they produce two very similar phones?

processors and rear cameras are different that's all I can see.

The 532 is better. Mainly the camera and additional 850 UMTS band. No reason to get the 435 really.

      • The 532 is just the dual sim version of the 435.
edit. You're right it has a better camera.

  • DSE Brand 47.5" FHD TV $429 (save 70) -has been $244 in a previous flash sale which was a ridiculous price.

and as low as $359 during a "sale"

TV prices from DSE are all over the place.
CHANGHONG 40" (101CM) Full HD LED TV LED40D1000 is currently $499 where as I bagged my one for $314.10 during this deal

    • did anybody actually receive that 47.5" for $244 though? no-one really replied in the thread if they did

  • Moto G at $249, better than everywhere else. Maybe 5% off at Officeworks?

alternative to Eneloop 2600mAh portable charger for $5.88 delivered (AU supplier)

    • +2

not sure if I will trust a no name brand for a few dollars difference, could mean life and death with lithium batteries.

    • They use terrible, cheap 18650 batteries that in reality can output maybe ~400mAh. The casing is worth about $0.50 wholesale and the battery ~$1.

  • Thanks- Needed some more powerbanks - great gifts.

  • does anyone know the quality of these heaters? especially the "Everdure Metal Ceramic Heater". Thanks
