  • No such thing as free international delivery. Below are close approximates.

    $142 USD delivered
    $184 AUD delivered

Still not bad, cheaper than the 4tb internal is locally I think lol.

Unit pricing should make each about $2 less per additional drive if anyone was curious.

  • If it is on Amazon.com, free shipping is in the US.

  • Update title - $12.61USD shipping to Sydney.

  • surprised noone posted it when it went down to 119.99USD on 12/03/15

Apparently this is the newer model @ same price.

    Not sure if better/worse..

      Also unsure if better/worse.
      Definitely sure it's a f**king eyesore haha.

    • In the product description, I found "Expands your Xbox One gaming experience". Maybe it's designed with special considerations for Xbox One?

    • Reminds me of the Samsung story

      • Mine seems to have just failed today actually… (2TB story), sigh I was just in the process of cleaning it up

  • Very cheap, especially considering my workplace bought a 5Tb external Seagate for $259 from JB Hifi this week

  • I was able to price match at my local office works (Browns Plains, QLD) last time this deal was on, picked up local stock for $173 :)

    • Wow, you owned those suckers. They're not supposed to match Amazon :) Nice OzBargaining skills

      • They must of been in a rush, however the comment said Amazon Price match!

They even wrote price match :)

        • +1

Hat goes off to you anyway.

My old Office Works wouldn't even match competitors if they were in Sydney (i lived 50km north of Sydney at the time) stating they weren't direct competition to them and that it would cost me additional money to get it from Sydney.

So it's awesome you price matched USA :)

  • Thanks OP! That's $50 cheaper than it was last year.

  • I'm a little tempted to get 2 of these for my NAS (using 4TB drives) and just let them recognise at 4TB. It's cheaper than a 4TB drive and possibly more reliable (Seagate has gotten better and better since moving away from their 3TB disaster)

    • I think these are shingled though… http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/SingleProductReview.…

Shingled drives place tracks so close that writing to one track will corrupt the next; no problem, the drive can fix that by rewriting the next track too, and the next… and the next. If you are lucky the firmware can bunch up writes so this doesn't cause a slow down, but you won't always be lucky. Your write performance may suffer if you put this in a NAS.

  • What is the cheapest and largest Seagate external drive you can get that is only powered by the USB 3.0 cable?

    • -1

      Seagate Backup Plus 8TB

But it's not cheap, around the $450-500 mark. There is an internal "Archive" drive getting around between $320-350 but it's more for backups and well, archives (it's slow!) I'd say they jammed a much faster drive in the external case.

      • Incorrect. You're talking about a desktop drive - Which requires a "power brick" too.

        • Ah, you are right!

I just re-read his question, I obviously missed the "only powered by the USB 3.0 cable" the first time.

I guess the short answer is 2.0TB but I'm not 100% on that.

wow! even more reason why I don't buy Seagate!

  • So do these come with an Australian plug for the power supply?

Or what's the deal to get them running as an external drive here?

    • Anyone?????

      • -1

clue up dude. ofc it will be a US plug.

        • +2

You'll be supprised! My unit from Officeworks came with 3 different power adapter plugs !

          @Gomo:

You know what.. You're right.. My seagate externals came with interchangeable power plugs.

          Sorry for the snap @KaiKat

        • @CVonV: =) It's just somthing odd that seagate seem to do with there external drives it seems, I haven't purchased any other brand so Can't comment on it

        • +1

          @CVonV:

It's all good :) I kinda expected it from someone haha

I only asked because my old Seagate external drive from years ago also came with a few of those interchangeable power plug clip-in adapters but I wasn't sure if they still did that (ie Seagate trying to save money) or if they did if the US versions would have the extra plugs

Delivered Apr 13, 2015. US plug only provided. You will need an adapter.
