    Holy cow :O
    MSY 10% off ALL cases?
Fractal Design R5 is amazingly quiet.
    $159 x 0.9 = $143.10

Not bad at all. The lines will be crazy though.

    • Grabbed one a few weeks ago and I LOVE it, a pleasure to build in.

  • Hmmm may be time to pick up a sensei raw

I was thinking of PC Cases like Phone cases. Why the hell would anyone need a pink silicone cover for their desktop PC!?

    Guess I need more coffee

  • Thinking i might get one of these

ASUS USB-N10-NANO Upto 150M Wireless-N USB Network Adapter
    $13

    Anybody used one before?

Certainly handy to be able to plug into USB rather than install a PCI express card - but I wonder do these USB things give you decent wireless performance or not?

    • I have used a cheapo one and now use a ~$40 ASUS USB Wifi adapter. ASUS one works great, just don't buy a cheap one and expect good results.

    • I've got an N10. It's definitely good enough to browse from, a few rooms over from my WAP.

I wouldn't want to be transferring large files over it, though.

  • anyone know any other quite case that not so heavy as fractal?

      ATX cases:

Only the Corsair and Coolermaster case is available at MSY.

      • thanks

  • Pretty decent deal if you can pick up.

The cheaper ones that aren't listed here, you're only saving about $15.

Delivery would kill it for most courier locations, but the discount still sweetens the deal.

    They're all pretty good, namely:

    Corsair 900D - $ 395.10

    Thermaltake Core X9 - $ 188.10

    Corsair 750D - $ 176.40

  • I'm in the market for a new router, our wireless is so congested with often 4-5 people using it at once, on a 5 year old router. I've not idea what I am buying, but need to upgrade, any recommendations on any of these routers specials to buy?

    • +1

Asus ac68U easily. I'm using it now and performed superbly well.

      • +1

+1 for the AC68U. I've got the predecessor the 66U and when having friends over I've frequently got 9+ kids playing minecraft on wireless laptops and 6 adults using tablets plus one or two chromecasts streaming away and it works flawlessly every time. I've even kicked off some torrents at the same time and it doesn't bat an eyelid. Sometimes we even talk to each other, but it seems very analogue.

        Best router I've ever owned

      • Unfortunately AC68U is out of stock for all but Vic (online only), Qld & SA. :-(

        • +3

When you log-in, just choose QLD/SA state and you can still purchase this model. It means that you can purchase from different states if there is no stock in your state.

          Thank you

          @hung861988
Hi interested in getting a router, but noticed in the last couple of hours they seem to be getting sold off guickly. Has the sale price started already if I buy online? Is there a promo code or voucher I need to input as it is coming up at normal
          price
          http://www.msy.com.au/qld/brendale/peripherals/12331-asus-rt…

        • @idboys: No, the sale has not started yet. People may have reserved the stocks online and pick up tommorrow at special prices.

        • @hung861988:

Have been chasing this modem for a while. Wish MSY would get more stock. According to Balcatta (WA) the last time it was in stock was 1/04/15.

The sale is cancelled out by the shipping fees in addition to the handling fees.

RT-AC68U is $209 (used to be $201 or $202 a few weeks back), closest with stock is SA Online. So $209 - weekend special $20.90, add shipping of $13.87 and a handling fee of $4.04 (not sure if there are additional charges for PayPal but there is 2% for credit card, so I'm assuming so)
          New total $206.01 plus surcharges

I thought MSY used to offer a we'll ship it to you free if its out of stock feature (perhaps that was limited time only or I've been hallucinating)

        • @hellrazorone: Okay, there are 2 options. First option, you can purchase from interstate and pay the postage. Second option, we can do back-order for you if you make the full payment during promotion period. Back-order may take a bit more time to arrive because the stocks are from suppliers.

        • +1

          @hung861988:
Sorry I meant router not modem. RT-AC68U. Yes I don't mind back ordering and paying in full. Do I need to send an email because the website won't allow me to add the item to the cart? Also can payment be made online to avoid two trips to MSY being a 30 min drive (i.e. One to pay and one when stock arrives)?

    • I already have a modem just need the router, modem supplied by IINET in Canberra, so not sure if I need to keep this or can replace it with this ASUS model?

  • @silent1

The Asus DSL-AC68U AC1900 is showing up as $299.

    Delivery $5.98

    Total $304.98

    How did you get $269.10??

    • Sale starts tomorrow (Fri 15/5 to Sun 17/5).

      • +1

        Thanks!

        • When I checked the price of this router a week ago, it was $286 not $299. Possibly there's been preemptive price hike in anticipation of this "sale".

  • Nice find OP. MSY are usually very competitive on price. Might try to find a router to set VPN on directly.

  • okie, i need an updated lesson on why there is a need for these 200 dollar routers where as 2012/2013 era models with 5Ghz multi in and even hard drive in build, tablet support can be found for under 100.

whats so new with the tech, i admit i am behind…

so can some one point me to an educational article somewhere?

    thank you.

    • It's just speed really at this point, assuming that you have AC devices to take advantage of it. See the charts here:

      http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/tools/charts/router/view

Some older routers were a bit limited in other ways though - eg. small routing tables, low RAM - which meant they slowed or even required a reboot with >5 clients connected or when torrenting.

      • thank you for the website.
I have more than 5 client and yes, i experience reboots on occasion on one single modem router, hence i got an extra to back it up at 5Ghz for phones.
However i dont see the need for 200 plus charge

        • Neither do I. The TP-Link D7 at $150 is a good option though.

  • I curious which ADSL modem is better - ASUS DSL-AC68U or Archer D9 AC1750?

    • +2

I curious which ADSL modem is better - ASUS DSL-AC68U or Archer D9 AC1750?

Regarding ADSL modem performance, it depends on your distance from the exchange.

For distances >2.5km CABLE length, it's recommended to use modems with Broadcom chipsets.
For shorter distances, you can use modems with MediaTek or Trendchip chipsets. More info here:
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1954308

Asus DSL-AC68U uses a MediaTek chipset for the modem, so is more suited to shorter distances.
TP-Link Archer D9 uses a Broadcom chipset, so is better for longer distances.
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2383154

      • Thanks! That is precisely what I needed.

      • I have bought ASUD AC68U - absolutely fantastic modem-router. I have used Billion modems before and would say this ADSL modem much better value for money and better quality. Thank you very much for advice.

  • $188.10 Asus RT-AC68U AC1900

The OP incorrectly links to the DSL-AC68U. Here's the correct link for the RT-AC68U
    http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/peripherals/12331-asus-rt-ac…

    • No, I do not need router. I need ADSL modem + router. That is DSL-AC68U. They are two separate beasts.

  • Even with a low bandwidth ADSL connection - the ASUS RT-AC68U router knows exactly what the fudge is up and gives a solid experience to all users even when everyone is bittorrenting. Streaming full HD from it's USB3 port is also a win - especially if you have AC spec clients. It would also be spectacular for NBN.

At $188.10, it's a steal and you should definitely buy it. Best router I've ever owned, and would never think of getting a low or mid range router ever again.

  • Was just @ the Brendale store buying a low profile graphics card and they also had hdmi cables on special - 5mtr flat for $5 and 3mtr round for $4.

  • +3

Just noticed that MSY have jacked the price up of certain items.

e.g. Samsung 4K 28" LU28D590DS was $545 earlier this afternoon is now showing as $585. (so $526.50 after 10% discount tomorrow)

I guess it's still slightly cheaper for what is already a decent price. Just don't expect to be saving as much as you think.

  • Just picked up the Netgear R8000 from Officeworks with price beat. $218.02.

    • -2

How? MSY is selling it for 255.

      • take away discount then 5%off?

      • $255.00 is original price
        $229.50 after MSY 10% off
$218.02 after Officeworks 5% price beat

  • Of course the case I want to buy is now 'low stock', and changed to that last night. Put in the order anyway with a new CPU, waiting on the email confirmation to see if they have it or not.

  • -1

Fractal cases in the post aren't discounted at all. 10% off temporarily inflated prices. :-/

    • My bad. Disregard the above comment.

  • Anyone know if the Asus RT-AC87U only needs a basic modem such as the TP-Link 8840T which is on there site?

    • +1

Yes, it will work with any modem (ADSL, Cable, or even NBN).
You will need to configure the 8840T into Bridge mode and run an Ethernet cable from it to the Router.
