^ and ~$45 a month thereafter Please change the post

OP, why not put the regular monthly price in the title?

    This feels misleading.

    • no more space to enter it in title, needs to be done by a Mod

EDIT: its been edited by a mod

  • +1

Ongoing price of $44.90 and $54.90 per month respectively

    • -1

same deal as the SAVEBIG promo code thats currently running but $1 cheaper for the 7GB plan and $5 cheaper for the 5GB plan

SO its definetly a deal as this is cheaper.

  • +8

this first month discounts drives me up to the wall, such a big savings.

    Shame on you Amaysim.

put it at least for first 6 months and then we can call it as a deal.

    • +5

Then you aren't doing it right.
Of course companies' offer first month discounts. They all do it because they want to attract your ongoing business. To really take advantage of deals like this, you need to stay nimble and flexible. Porting is fast and easy between networks. Next month another company will be offering a deal. That's how you play it for absolute maximum savings - ask any Uni student!

      • +3

I blame marketing for churning, which seems like such a waste of human effort.

      • +1

porting is fast and easy and always includes around $20 bucks for new SIM card + seen around $30 cancellation fees policy on few of these budget telcos.

so good luck with porting and saving each month…

        • Its easy.
You seem to have the idea its far more difficult than it is. So long as we are talking about prepaid, then its as simple as buying the latest, best value deal of the month and choosing "bring my number" when activating. No extra fees or anything. Look into it further, its basic.

        • -1

is this deal we talking prepaid or postpaid?

        • @King Tightarse:

As far as I can see Amaysim is not a prepaid but postpaid. Therefore aDaMoVEC point is valid.

        • @vagabond:

Amaysim is both Prepaid and Postpaid

You have the option to select when you sign up

        • @aDaMoVEC:

First month you obviously pay for. The second month you can select prepaid or postpaid. Second month cost is not worth it.

        • $30 cancellation on prepaid service? I've not seen that.

        • @Dr Dave: Where else can you get 5Gb mobile data on 4G network for $45? I'd say for users of large amounts of data the deal is worth it.

        • [ Tiggrrrrr ] ( / Comment / 2728347 / redir ) : obviously I was pointing on postpaid service till someone clarified to me they also do a prepaid

        • +1

          @Tiggrrrrr:

As a matter of fact - Vodafone. $42 8GB of data on 4G.

        • Rhetorical clearly. - all you can eat Voda weekend.

        • +1

@vagabond: Ok. Just checked the Vodafone website, all pre-paid plans. Nothing there that gives me Unlimited calls, SMS, and 8Gb data for $42. Or am I missing something? If so please supply a link to the deal and I'll sign up now.

        • I am looking for the best value, high data usage deal for my folks (with unlimited calls/sms).

        • @Tiggrrrrr:

          I should have posted link:
          with ABN:
          http://www.vodafone.com.au/business/products-and-services/bu…

          Without ABN, choose different plans:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/192739

        • +1

@vagabond: Ok. So I either need to have an ABN for deal 1, or to have already been connected to Vodaphone "post-paid" for deal 2. With Deal 2 only giving me 3Gb data.

I think my original statement still stands, but maybe I need to spell it out more clearly. Is there another month-to-month plan, with no conditions attached regarding ABN or pre-existing custopmer status, that I can sign up my parents to, that gives better than Unlimited Calls, SMS, Free voicemail, and 5Gb of 4G data?

I am trying to get something in the next week. Otherwise it's Amaysim.

          Thanks in advance.

        • Predated, favourably, is getting every ounce out.
Postpaid? You will be wise to review what that next GB after 5gb, might cost, you, or your folk. Is it 0, is it ten or some absurd quantum.

  • So 5GB data is valid for 30days?

  • +1

Vodafone deal is better but I have not had any issues with porting to and from Amaysim - sometimes done within the hour.

    • But then you are with Vodafone, and hobbled by the reception issues that go with it. I get better reception with Optus 4G than I ever did with Telstra in the country areas I go to. Add to that decent coverage in Karratha, where I struggled to get a signal with Vodafone.

      • That might be just your experience, however at least to my knowledge vodaphone has a much better 4G network.

Optus 4G can have huge congestion issues because they wholesale it cheaply to everyone.

    • porting is not issue for me.

porting each month, searching for better deal, waiting for delivery, time spent to do all of this for saving few bucks is not worth the time.

If I am a UNI student, i will make sure study hard, not picking my telco at end of each month…

      • Waiting for delivery.
Do you sit at the mail box or something?

        searching for better deal.

You must be one of those people who love to swap simcards every month.

        • +1

          @aDaMoVEC:

I've used postpaid for ever and just recently switched to prepaid.
I had exactly the same view as you but have read on here about porting month to month to use the 50% SIM deals.
Started with Telstra last month and just last Saturday ported to Vodafone $30 SIM which was $5 via woollies EDR.
It wasn't a very smooth port TBH but i have an Amaysim in the post and a Boost sitting on the Kitchen bench.
If it turns out too much trouble I'll just switch back to a post paid or Boosts new $20 deal but not until I've given it a good go.
I kind of like the idea of taking advantage of these deals TBH.

        • Really couldn't do much with few gbytes so best plan likely is to just alternate beteen promo, yea. Otherwise, recharge x Coles & Wow ~40-$32 voucher codes @ Vodafone weekend (smarter plan inclusions, network +/roam partner) & let those savings pay for content, Netflix.

        • @dan76n: i kinda like it as well, but i'm not brave enough to swap every month + still have a bad felling that porting will can go wrong and i will end up with not working phone.

with not working phone i can't call support and even if I manage to call it from someones other phone, paying money for endless waiting on line till I get some unexperienced staff who can't help me at all

been thru, know what I'm talking about

          thats cheap telcos.

at the end of the day, you can finish with not working sim and the time you spend for fixing it, would cost you more than you actually save.

They offer 3hr or next day delivery in Sydney

      • +1

Don't understand what the hassle is. Only takes a few Mins a month and you save a substantial amount. With the $15 or $20 for amaysim you also get $10 credit to use as payg. Or $20 if you refer yourself with 2 numbers. And you can practically get you money back with the $15 telstra starter kits. (there's a app) effectively making the monthly bill about $5 a month. Or $1 if you switch back and forth between telstra and vodafone $1 sim.

I think saving $25-30+ a month is like paying yourself $100 per hour for the work need Or spend the saving on DH for the week and no shopping and cooking required ;p

        • Must be sad month if none of these 1 month discounts flies around

  • can i get this deal after 16th of MAY, i mean can i buy this to get the codes after 16th may?
