JB Hi-Fi - Before Sunrise & Before Sunset (DVD) - $6.98

340

Was looking around to buy those 2 films & bumped across this great deal on Jb Hifi

there's no bluray for those, so if you'd like to own your own copy, $3.50 for 1 dvd is pretty great.

Before Sunrise & sunset are also great movies to add your collection

      No flop, actually in the IMDB top 250 movies of all time. There is a third movie, Before Midnight which is good too. Basically dialogue driven complicated love story with complex characters, slightly funny, I didn't mind them.

      The cinematography is great, some long continuous shots

        ok that's cool. I wonder why these first two movies aren't on Blu-ray at all if it was popular.

        • +1

          Yeah I'd get all three as a set on bluray if I could. The girl character in these is a nut, great scene in the third film

          @clarky:

          Only the third movie Before Midnight is on Blu-ray. Hate how they release the first few movies in a series on DVD only.

          @hollykryten: yeah, I went blu ray about a year ago and never looked back. The director of this trilogy also did Boyhood, the recent film that was shot over 12 years. It's worth a watch even just to see the family grow up, pretty amazing.

          @clarky:

          He also did "A Scanner Darkly", which I liked a lot (though not
          my fav Linklater).

          """
          Actor in a supporting role: Robert Downey Jr., "A Scanner Darkly"
          Of course Downey has made a career out of oddball supporting roles, and one could argue that nearly all of them (in recent years) play off his disordered personal history. But with Barris, the thoroughly untrustworthy slacker alpha-idiot of Richard Linklater's animated cult-classic-to-be, Downey digs deeper into the life of a drug addict than he ever has in any live-action role. Charismatic, duplicitous and a know-it-all with a highly inflated sense of his own competence, Barris will remind you (or anyway he reminded me) of that college friend you knew was bad news but couldn't resist. What is it actually like to get high with Bob Downey? Now we know.

          @calcium: it's funny, I bought scanner darkly, watched it a few years back and it didn't do anything for me. Better give it another watching.

    • Yeah, this is a bit of a cult film. Surprised they aren't on Blu Ray to be honest.

    • 2 movies in a very short list with imdb rating over 8 and rotten tomatoes score over 90%

  • Great pressie idea for Mothers Day. Thanks for the post.

      I would much rather forget it thanks.

        Me too. Love the first two. Not a bad movie just not the same upbeat tone as the others. I'd rather forget I ever saw it and end the story at number two.

          Seriously. I'm a bloke so I don't watch a heap of romance movies, but who wants to sully romantic fiction with the mess of a relationship depicted in 3. I don't put up with that in my own real life so why would I want to spend an hour and a half in that domestic pile of dung. They'd be better off never having met. Mrd.

    I tried to watch the first movie in this series. Basically it is all dialogue, it feels like you're just listening in on someone's conversation on the bus. I turned it off after 15 minutes. Guess I just have a short attention span, but it got great reviews. I think you need to be into indie type films to appreciate it.

  • Love these movies. This price is a bargain. And I thought I did well picking up the whole trilogy for $23 at JB a few months ago.

  • Both are good movies, Any recommendations for other movies if I liked Before Sunrise & Before Sunset ?
    Thanks,

      The third one, before midnight , is great also, but takes the fun out of the first 2 films.

      Plus watch boyhood,linklaters' 12 year project. Wont ever be anything like that movie again
