But I have 8 spare torches already…..the dilemma!

    • +1

      reckon I have 18 :)
But not this one. Nice to have a smooth "non-assault" end, friendlier on you pocket.

  • Or $3.17 Aussie dollars.

  • looks diff to my others… Another won't hurt

  • Bought one not long ago and it stopped working… Might just buy another one, about 4 weeks shipping

  • Looks identical to the recent banggood deal.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188483

Is it the same item? Related company, or just using the same website software and supplier?

    • these, like many chinese products, are sold by many vendors with various brandings & colours (and sometimes varying specs)

    • +2

Yep, same. My banggood torch has already arrived and is the same shape but is missing the white CREE name and model details (mmmm….wondering if there is such a thing as a fake CREE torch….). Brightness is OK - nothing like the numerous larger torches I've purchased but enough to find your way through a dark carport to the beer fridge.

      • +3

Cree dont make torches. They make the LED emitters, as do Samsung, Osram and a few others. Cree is just the brand of choice, so its slapped on everything including huge numbers of torches that have not got Cree emitters in them.

    Thanks. Just bought two. β›ΊπŸš£πŸ”¦πŸŽ£

In a drunken stupor, I think I just bought three.

    • +2

i up your 3 sir and bought 4 and am also quite drunk

Crappppp, was going to just get one light but I got 5 :/ one of them being the "UltraFire E06 CREE XML T6 1800Lm Water-resistant Zoomable LED Flashlight Torch"

    :D

  • Pro tip, spend the extra $1 and get this one:
    http://m.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_5496.html
Has 3 beam modes and has zoom function.

    • Interesting how this one has the same LED model (Q5) but is listed as 350lm instead of OP's post of 500lm.

      • The LED is an XPE*, Q5 is a bin number. Lumens claims of most of the cheap lights, are generally bullshit.

*At least they claim it is.

  • I have no other why I need another light for.. but I got one anyway. sigh

  • 500lm

    true or false?

Oh and for anyone interested I’m finding the 3 AAA battery torches more effective over time. The single A battery ones start to flicker as the button clicker wears out or malfunctions.

I received the 4 I ordered today and not a single one works?

    Anyone else similar issues?

    • same issue, none work. they're so light as well, probably fakes. refund time i suppose

      • Are you using AA? It could be that they are only suited to 14500 li ion, which is not what you asked for, but just the same I seem to reccall that being the case with some.

Also, have you checked all components are tight.

        • Yeah I am, though it does say AA compatible on the spec sheet. Everything is solid, nothing appears loose. I tried manually connecting the terminals, and still nothing.

So I guess either they don't support AA as claimed, or they're so cheap that no contact is being made between terminals.

I've started the return/refund process, so far they're being difficult though…

        • @Mister Plod: I'm about the start the refund process as well! Bit of a shame because they are a really nice size of they worked. Keep us upto date with how you go!

        • @thisguy: their options were pretty crappy, was either:

[1] send again but with land mail (i previously paid extra for fast shipping, so i guess no refund for that…)

[2] refund only 50% of the money into paypal account (don't know why anyone would choose that)

[3] full amount as store credit only

so chose resend, but asked if they can test them with AA batteries before sending to me. if they don't work, either their info is wrong, or they've received a faulty/fake batch of them.

prolly be a month til i get the new ones, will try and remember to post again then :)

        • @Mister Plod: I got offered crappier options again. For 2 torches, was offered:

          (1) $1 refund to orginal account
          (2) $2 refund as store credit
          (3) replacement items if I'll pay a $2 tracking fee

Given that the items are faulty and/or not az described, I'm not particularly happy with any of those options, and have asked them to do better. I'm probably just being hopeful, but let's see how it goes!

        • PayPal dispute, I wouldnt wait on it, the time limit must be getting close. You can always cancel it when you have the refund in your bank.

        • @Tuba: Yeah, I've started that process too.

GearBest wouldn't budge on their offer, said it was the best they could offer me based on their policy (which based on Mister Plod's post is utter rubbish).

Based on other comments in this thread I assume my torches will probably work on 14500 batteries, so I may have unintentionally muddied the waters by referring to them as 'faulty' in my initial support request. Since I can only test on AA (I don't own any 14500 batteries), I should have referred to them as DOA, which is what they really are.

Definitely a very disappointing response from GearBest. I have 4 more of what seem to be the same torches on order from a later deal. Here's hoping they work!

        • Full refund finally achieved. I'm a bit unimpressed with how much arguing it took to get there over a fairly simple issue, but at least it was the right outcome in the end.

    • Same here. Ordered 3, none of them work with AA's.

  • Same here ordered 3 and all no go with AA's.
All work with 14500 but it does say on the site they are AA compatible.

    • Anyone know wheres the best spot to get 14500 batteries?

      • Do you already have a decent charger for it? Are you prepared to pay more for the battery than the light itself? You can scrimp, but the li ion is often faked badly, or worse, dangerous.

This is a sub $3 light, Im not sure its worth chasing your tail to run it. Charger is about $20-30, and a good 14500 about $6-10. If I invested that, which I have and then some but thats beside the point, Id be using it for way better lights.

  • Ordered 4 all broken - will refer this thread to PayPal

Tried AA brand new and eneloops - so basically this is fraud..

    • +1

Not really a fraud at least not by gearbest. GearBest dont test the lights, they take a makers word for it. They sell tens of thousands of units, along with dresses and baby gear and everything in between, I doubt anyone at GearBest knows what the light should run on. They rely on the manufacturer to give them correct info, and use reliable bits.

  • Hasn't even arrived yet

  • I'm still waiting on mine too.
Sounds like nobody has got working ones (with AA) so it looks like I'll be going to PayPal also.

  • Three DOA torches received, starting the process :(

  • Received torch on Wednesday put 1 AA battery works well.
