    Exclude PERTH.!

    • I don't think Jetstar runs any business class flights out of Perth. I could be wrong, but I know the flights up to Bali are just a cattle bus, no business seats up front. Hardly worth it anyway on a 3.5 hour flight.

Don't think they offer business to Singapore either.

    Whoa…This is impressive!

    • yes… yes it is

  • I clicked on the link but it looks like Tokyo isn't there?

    • +1

When you click on the link, change Departing & Arriving to All Airports, and if need be change Sale Type to International Business Class

      • Yeh I had to do this before Tokyo would show. I was hoping the sale would extend to February next year but not luck there. There are no sales for this in Feb.

      • +1

looks like it doesn't include Sydney for Japan

PS awesome deal TA, per usual

Edit: Got Tokyo and updated comment

        • +2

Jetstar don't fly direct to Japan from Sydney, so you'd have to go via Melbourne/Cairns/Gold Coast (domestic flight in economy).

  • +5

Anyone wondering - no suitable skiing times included in the dates listed.

    • I know. Spewing.

    • I thought the same ..December is just a tad bit early

  • +1

In comparison to QANTAS, BA, Singapore etc, what is Jetstar's Business Class like?

    • +11

Compared with Qantas international business class, the Jetstar offering is tighter on space and closer in dimensions to Qantas premium economy.
The Jetstar seats have leg and foot rests and adjustable lumbar support, but they recline only 20 centimetres, a long way from flat-bed seats demanded by business-class travellers these days.
It is the poor man's business class.

      • I guess also no business lounge in the airport?

        • +2

Only if you pay extra for the upgrade to Business Max (at an extra $500+ with this fare!)

      • Although a step up from economy, this is no business class, and calling it that is deceiving and wrong.

    • BA's international business is pathetic. Took flights a couple of weeks ago, all BA except for one leg via HK on Cathay.

      Cathay business = 10/10.
      BA business = 1/10.

    • +1

Yep, basically premium economy, though still a great price considering these are about half the cost of the usual full service lot.

    • What about the foods, drinks, and entertainment? Any difference?

  • Average

  • Anyone know how good business is on their Boeing 787 Dreamliner?
    Thanks :)

    • +3

Think Qantas Domestic Business Class or International Premium Economy Class and you'll have a pretty good comparison.

      • +4

        Think Qantas Domestic Business Class

QF Domestic as in their domestic 737 business class, not the transcontinental domestic A330's with international business config or the new business suites ;)

  • +1

From Adelaide Biz, it only goes to Honolulu, and at $873 oneway, its a bit much.

  • I'm reasonably happy with the flights I booked to Thailand for $279 each way (economy, 787 dreamliner) - these have increased for some dates now.

    • Which dates? And with who?

      • Jetstar, October.

  • please note that to receive the Qantas Frequent Flyer points/Status credits you do have to opt into the Max bundle ,which is additional $675 from Melbourne to Bangkok

    • +3

It appears that even where there is a Business Class sale on jetstar if you opt for the points and status credits it will always come out to the full price if there wasn't a sale. They adjust the bundle package pricing each time there is a sale. Usually it'll be $200 each way.

      • +3

Just noticed this. Annoying. Could've been a pretty great status credit run.

  • +3

Good find. You beat me to this one :)

  • +8

Please dont call this Business Class - it is Premium Economy and all sale prices should be compared to premium economy on other airlines. ScootBiz should be compared to full service economy - its not even a premium economy product.

  • Looks like Jetstar have started charging for the Debit Mastercard on the mobile site. Just checked by using my Commonwealth Bank Debit Mastercard using mobile site and IOS app. Both are showing a charge $8.50 per passenger per booking after I enter my card number

Am I doing something wrong ?

    • +1

Yes, you're doing something wrong - you're confusing Tigerair (no fees on AU Debit Mastercard) with Jetstar (no fees on bank transfer).

Jetstar's system is better than Tiger's - you get a day to cool off if you don't want to go through with it, as failure to pay will only result of cancellation of the booking.

      • I thought OPs note indicate that you won't be charged a fee if you use Jetstar mobile site with Australian Debit Mastercard

        • +2

I'm sure that Jetstar used to accept this … in fact I even have this note to myself:

== pay with Mastercard debit card on mobile site (e.g. ING direct) ==

          as per: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/181754?page=1#comment-2550…

"because POLi is not available on mobile devices, Jetstar instead makes Mastercard debit cards free on its phone and tablet sites, even though this form of plastic attracts the $17 for bookings through its main website. Jetstar does so to avoid breaching the Australian Consumer Law, which mandates the inclusion of additional fees in advertised prices unless there is an escape route."

"Using a Mastercard debit card and the mobile site can save a family of five up to $85 on return flights. As many as two million Jetstar passengers annually could use this option."

        • Hey why don't you just pay by poli..
Seemed to work well for me last time. No issues.

        • Clearly something's changed since I last booked, my bad. But it was always the case that Jetstar's fee free payment method was transfer - is this no longer offered, and you have to use POLI?

        • @dealman: because banks see using poli as a breach of their T&C. All good if you never have any fraudulent transactions, but if you do, the bank has an easy out since you did provide your details to a third party.

        • @team teri: but you are not giving details anywhere but the banks site..
Check the site https link and the certificate..

Did you have any issues with poli and any bank?

        • +2

@dealman: My bank - Police Credit Union advises strongly against using POLI for the following reasons:

Unlike payments via a Visa or MasterCard, payments made via POLi are not able to be reversed by a financial institution as they are batch transactions and there are no chargeback rights. POLi also does not assist in unauthorised or mistaken transactions.

By providing your confidential internet banking login details to a third party like POLi, Members may well lose protection for any unauthorised transactions under the ePayments code (sections 11-12) on the basis that they have contributed to any loss by not sufficiently protecting their confidential login codes

Never used it myself, just saying what my credit union advises.

        • @irate:

          Thanks, interesting to know that,

Never thought it was risky it was risky but now.. I'll be careful ..

  • +1

On JQ in Bus. Class make sure you get a front bulkhead seat or you could have seat in front in your face.

  • Doesn't look like these can be booked one way ex-Japan as usual?

  • Why do the conditions state all those inclusions but when selecting a flight, you have to add all of those extras at a cost?

  • +1

Jetstar business practices are so dodgy. I had a voucher which I used on a flight and had funds left in the voucher but Jetstar have advised me that the voucher can only be used once and the funds are now forfeited.

I have put a complain with their customer service. Do the ozbargain wisdom reckons that I have a chance with Consumer affairs if they do not allow me to use the balance on another flight ?. I see it as a scenario where you walk into a shop and purchase something for $70 and give the shopkeeper a $100 bill and he/she turns back and says that you have forfeited your change as per our policy.

    • Lol, they're not called JerkStar for no reason!

    • +2

The voucher says in the T&C that leftover funds can't be used. I doubt you'd have a chance with consumer affairs. It's not really like cash though (I assume you got the voucher as compensation for a delayed flight, or from the Jetstar CC?)

      • +1

I bought the voucher to avoid their booking fee thinking that it works exactly as every other gift voucher but alas this is not the case. You would think that their system would prompt you when booking flights less than the voucher value that the remaining amount will be forfeited.

They prompt you with every other thing with pop ups including insurance, seating etc

        • Ohh, that's pretty rough in that case.

        • +1

It sucks, but if you're trying to game the system you need to be aware of all the traps.

  • So if I want to earn Status credits and points at the business rate I have to pay a grand for a return trip. What a crock Jetstar!

    • +1

I don't know why they bother offering it the additional price is just offensive.

Edit: And if your employer is paying and you're sneaking on the extra $1000 just to get $25 worth of points for yourself you're pretty sick.

      • +2

On non-sale fares the difference between the base Business class fare and the Business Max fare can sometimes be more reasonable. But the difference is always huge on sale fares.

  • Was hoping to get some flights from SYD to SIN, but there are no direct flights. Only option is via MEL with a 3.5hr changover. Seems a bit dumb to fly south, only to fly north again. Makes a 12hr flight into 17hrs. Pity as it is not bad pricing.

  • +1

I was probably a bit optimistic thinking that Darwin might be considered a 'major city' :)

  • Japan gone! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Cant find dates on Honolulu.

Guess the sales in the title are gone

  • Bugger - nothing for Singapore GP weekend

  • Booked flights to HCMH and got business class to Singapore…yay!!
Nothing on the way home unfortunately :(

  • I just ascertained that you do not get lounge access for Jetstar Business unless purchased a 'max ' bundle. I am not a Qantas Club lounge member. Is there any other way of getting lounge access in Melbourne?
