As in enloops also come in glitter?
or perhaps after seeing how well eneloops glitter sold so well, they decided to make their own glittery so people might buy wrong? especially when you get your friends or parents to pick u up something.
Yeah I can see that happening…
"Hi, I'm after some Eneloop glitter batteries." "Would these be the ones? picks up Dick Smith glitter batteries"
Is $3.66 really a bargain for an 8 pack of standard AA batteries?
at a glance they look like eneloops with in-store pickup available. what a tease! ;)
somehow I clicked on it thinking it was eneloop glitter….
If you dont see this as an obvious attempt at copying eneloop then I worry for you.
Yeah but it doesn't take much to tell by the thread title that it's not an Eneloop. Also Eneloop doesn't have the monopoly on multi coloured batteries.
hey another enel…..
wait a minute…
$1.47 for 8 alkaline AAA's click n collect
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/dick-smith-aaa-alkalin…Or 16 for $3.32
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/dick-smith-aa-alkaline…
How is this a bargain?
Those are AA's.
How isn't it a bargain? :)
so sick of dickheadsmiths. not only is this obviously trying to confuse people with eneloops but the last item i bought from DS was obviously second hand and had been used before, they also overcharged me $10. i tried contacting then several times and finally managed to get them to answer over an OzB PM to get them to refund the extra $10 they took from my account without permission but they refused to even acknowledged that the main point of my communication was about the obviously second hand product they shipped me.
be careful of there online deals, they are dodgy as shit
Obvious attempt to trick people into comparison with eneloop. Cheaper available albeit without the glitter.
I'm sick of receiving the same old tripe in up to three emails a day from them. I've taken the bold step of unsubscribing.
These do not recharge in my charger.. I either got faulty batteries or was tricked
these are "alkaline" batteries and ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE they may explode etc if recharged
these are "alkaline" batteries and ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE
Doesn't say so in the misleading title…
Yeah good one troll. The title says nothing about the batteries being rechargeable. Alkaline batteries in general aren't rechargeable.
Only a fool would think that these batteries are rechargeable.
Only a fool would think that these batteries are rechargeable.
only a moron couldnt see by the packaging and the pricing that these are obviously trying to fool customers into thinking they are something they are not……
lol i know what they look like but any one with half a brain could see that they're really not Eneloop. Yeah well that's marketing tricks for you to fool the knobs.
I think we all know who the knobs are in this case.
Yes those that can't tell the difference between a Dick Smith Alkaline coloured battery and an Eneloop NiMH coloured battery. Go neg all you want but that's the truth.
@hollykryten:
Is it possible to tell the difference… Yes. Is this an attempt to copy eneloop and possibly mislead… Yes. Is this (using your term) a 'knob' act… Yes. Are you completely missing the point people are making here…. YES!
Most chargers can't charge them - true.
But they are rechargeable by http://www.rezap.com.au/ for example.
Pretty gutsy move posting a deal for Glitter ripoffs here, rep.
bulk disposables: the first choice of the fiscally-challenged.
Glitter landfill after just 1 use…
$10 sold in store, was confused with eneloops as well.
Of all the good deals available today, Dick rep posts the most misleading & not even the cheapest home brand AA 8 pack.
Dick Smith AA Alkaline Battery 8pk $1.78 pick up -
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/dick-smith-aa-alkaline…Just because it's a AA battery being sold by Dick Smith doesn't mean that it must be an Eneloop
Yes it does….once you had an eneloop there's no going back.
On that note if you're after real Eneloop batteries i see that Dick Smith also has the Sanyo Eneloop AA 8pk Tropical batteries on sale going for $21.72 + delivery. These are the real made in Japan batteries as opposed to the Chinese made Panasonic Eneloop AA 8pk Tropical that's $14.98. Few dollars more for the Sanyo made in Japan batteries but it's better.
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/eneloop-aa-rechargeabl…
So it just $3.66 for 8x AA NON-RECHARGEABLE batteries that try to trick people think they are rechargeable Eneloop? No Deal.
And potentially dangerous if someone try to recharge them and explode.
Rep please ask yourself, do you still have any moral left in your system after posting this misleading ad just to get exposure to the business you work for?
I wish I can triple neg you. That's marketing for you. Dick Smith saw how popular the multi-coloured Eneloop were and thought they'd make themselves some multi-coloured batteries of their own that look a bit like them. But how does it try to trick people to think that it's rechargeable batteries?. It's clearly spelled out that it's alkaline batteries and no where does it say that they are rechargeable or an alternative to Eneloop batteries so how could you would some one come to a conclusion that they are?.
But may i ask how is the ad misleading. They are Dick Smith AA alkaline glitter batteries in an 8 pack which is what the title says?.
But may i ask how is the ad misleading. They are Dick Smith AA alkaline glitter batteries in an 8 pack which is what the title says?
but the title didnt say that until i reported the "deal" and asked one of the mods specifically to have it added…. (thanks hamza23)
so your troll is invalid
It was in the Alkaline battery category. Surely some one would of had the brain cells to know that it's Alkaline batteries on offer or do people just take a thread title and don't bother to check the product details. I mean do people go out and buy a product without even reading a single bit of the product details on the retailers web site or shelf how stupid would that be. Do you go into a store and grab any batter off the shelf and assume that it's rechargeable or do you first read the details.
@hollykryten: not everyone can afford the time while sitting in their mothers basement to read every little detail of every little deal…. thats why we have things like formatting and titles and deal bodys for the more outgoing of us that have real lives etc.
True but even if a mistake in the thread title was made at first it only takes what 5 seconds to load up the retailers product page and a few seconds to check if they are alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries. Don't go by what an Ozbargain thread says alone. I mean if you can't spare a few seconds to check then that's quite useless. But if you also can't tell the difference between an Alkaline and a NiMH rechargeable battery then i suggest you stay away from them and don't go touching any battery charger.
@nosdan: maybe you should calm & tone it down a little, every comment you written so far in this post seems quite rude. I don't believe he was trolling, just asking a normal question like everyone else. Also when I saw the post later, I too read it as 'Alkaline Batteries' didnt see anything misleading. so I don't get why some are so mad..

It reminds me very much of a story concerning myself in Egypt…
We went into a duty free shop in Cairo and there were a few different bottles of alcohol in a display cabinet. On the other side of the shop was the ranking with the bottles for sale. Johnnie Walker red for about AUD $15 and black at about $20. Why not grab one of each for that price.
Later that eve someone on the boat asked me if I cracked open and checked my scotch yet. Much to my dismay, one bottle said Johnnie Walher. Now I know Dick has not called them Anyloop or similar, but it is CLEARLY designed to fool people into thinking that they're eneloop glitters based on their colouring and packaging, and even his $14.98 pricing!
If people can be fooled into thinking that those knocking on your front door a from a real charity; a guy dressed in a suit that stops you and asking for your details is a real cop; or that it was never going to cost Victorians a packet by cancelling the contracts to build the East-West Link and voted Andrews in anyway; then it wouldn't be too hard to imagine that this would catch a few out!
