Epson TW 5200 Projector 1080p 3D $879.99 at Costco Docklands (VIC) Membership Required

130

Saw this today at Costco Docklands. Spoke to one of the staff looking after the electronics section and confirmed they had plenty in stock.

Cheapest on static ice is $939
Decent projector and you can't complain about the price accompanied with Costco return policy.

I am going to get one for the stairs. It is the most boring part of my house.

Updated title:adding $0.99 to the price in the initial post.

Unchanged price from last year @ Costco
Great projector - 3D works well and no issues with quality of picture or connectivity in the last 9 months.
Speaker is not adequate for home cinema, needs a dedicated surround sound to complete the setup.

    • For talks, maybe try a cheaper, portable 2x1 speaker kit.

If the talk's to be given in a [Library's] rented room,
even a sound bar or two might suffice, I'd guess.

Reminder, after maker's 12 month warranty, -continuous-
Costco membership is required (from date of purchase,
to time you want to return it).

Are lamp fails covered, eg, soon after 12 mon warranty
ends? IF so, this could be a real Deal, if from CostCo.

    • "300 feet"?

Is it really any -brighter- a globe than the $600 range models?
Is there an Economy mode, to stretch globe life? Any heat issues?

Any greater protection built-in, eg, for those who carry it
from venue to venue? Or would buying a better carry box add to cost?

      • 300" = 300 inch wide projection screening.

  • Is this just as good as the w1070?

    • +1

Well both are comparable. My dad has got one from Costco and what I can tell after comparing it with my w1070, there is not much difference. The colours on this one pops slightly more where the brightness of 1070 is slightly better, not a problem anyway if you have a reasonably dark room

The epson uses LCD while the the benq uses a color wheel, which can cause rainbows in fast past scenes. Epson replacement lamp is $100 while benq is at least double that. Really, if you can find a local one with similar price, you cant go wrong with either of them

I have this projector since last year August very good projector for the price, 3D is amazing there are two options for the 3D's side by side, up and down. If you have a 3D capable player then the projector automatically adjust the feature.

I use samsung SSG-5100GB work perfect you don't need to buy Epson 3D glasses.

Considering fan noise will increase when you select dynamic or living room also these options reduce the lamp life. The other two options neutral and cinema increases the lamp life and reduce the fan noise.
