GTA V PC - $38.99 AUD (Non Steam) @ Nuuvem

910

All credit goes to a few different comments over a couple of different posts.

Only steam and EB games (thanks to poster below) offers steam version, however it will launch and require login to rockstar anyway, so I was happy to skip having it in my steam library to save paying ~$75 USD for a game ive already played heaps on PS4.

Use hola to bypass the aussie tax. credit to endee for this suggestion.

Any questions leave a comment and Ill explain further, worked perfect for me and im pre downloading it now.

  • I was looking at this, how do we know the language of the game isnt locked?

    • +2

It's not, they've said that it's multilingual and it's not region locked.

  • +4

Please note that Rockstar have made a formal request to Nuuvem to region lock the game. You can still buy it with a VPN but as an owner of a cd key store, I heavily suggest buying it elsewhere as I expect this to be this years Far Cry 4 (uPlay removed third party cd keys of FC4)

:EDIT: I'm not saying Rockstar is definitely going to remove keys bought post-region locking, but it's a risk now that the company is involved.

    • So I assume this has been reported somewhere, as opposed to just your word?

      • -5

        http://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV_PC/comments/31nt18/n…

And a bulletin that came up just in the last 15 minutes from one of my suppliers stated that they are region locking to Asia.

        • +2

Did you even read what you linked to?

          Hi,
There will not have region locked to redeem GTA V's key, but we recently had to apply a regional restriction to pre-purchase GTA V on Nuuvem due to a request of Rockstar, so if you don't live in South America, you'll not be able to pre-purchase GTA V on Nuuvem.
          We apologize for any inconvenience.

          Bolding is my own.

You can still activate it fine, just need a VPN to buy it. Which is exactly what this deal is.

        • -3

Did you even read what you linked to?

Did you even read what I originally said?

You can still buy it with a VPN.

I suggested against it and even implied that it might not happen. You guys can risk it, next time I wont pass on this information that might avoid you guys from getting your cd key taken away. But now that Rockstar is officially involved, doesn't it seem, in the logical sense, that it might be possible that this will lead to people losing their cd keys? Did you hear about that guy who bought Battlefield 4 from the Mexico Origin store? He lost it because he lived in the US and Origin was cracking down on VPN users.

        • +4

          @Dagmar:

Did you even read what I originally said?

Region locking the game isn't the same as restricting buying to a certain country. If it can still be activated fine without a VPN, that isn't region locking. Saying it's region locked is the same as saying buying Steam games from Amazon is region locking.. it isn't!

Did you hear about that guy who bought Battlefield 4 from the Mexico Origin store? He lost it because he lived in the US and Origin was cracking down on VPN users.

Oh wow, one guy. Everyone quick, go and only buy your games from Dagmar, he's just fearmongering out of the goodness of his heart.

I'd better go and check my Origin account as well, bought a number of games from the Mexican Origin store.. Oh wait, sorry, they're all still there without an issue.

        • Settle down ladies.

        • +1

Everyone quick, go and only buy your games from Dagmar

If you bothered to even check my store, you'd find it's closed until the day after the GTA 5 release, not exactly a prime position, especially when the cheapest price I can do is $63 which is a lot more than other stores. As a public declaration and in the interest of transparency, I will be setting my GTA 5 stock to 0 and will leave it like that until an appropriate enough duration of time has passed that would safely assume most people will have already purchased it elsewhere. I don't appreciate the baseless accusation of me trying to scare buyers into buying their copies from me. I hope this decision has removed that thought from your mind.

Region locking the game isn't the same as restricting buying to a certain country.

I'm getting sick of repeating myself. The selling of the game is region locked, the activation isn't. I know this, I've said this. What I am trying to say is, forget it, you obviously don't want to listen, so I'll just copy and paste what I'm trying to drill into your head.

Rockstar is officially involved… it might be possible that this will lead to people losing their cd keys…

As it will be clear to Rockstar which keys were "bought" in NA only to be played in Australia. I'm not saying anything about activating the game or about buying it. I'm talking about keeping the game. Here's to hoping I'm wrong, but I don't want to see any of you head to Whirlpool, Reddit or the Rockstar forums and type up a thread saying "Rockstar stole my cd key". My position is this: buy the key from Nuuvem, but now that Rockstar is involved, it's quite possible that they will be cracking down on keys bought with a VPN. Just be careful.

(Personally, I have pre-ordered from EB Games on the conditions that it unlocks on Steam and they'll price match JB HIFI)

        • @Dagmar:

          How about some sources?

Please note that Rockstar have made a formal request to Nuuvem to region lock the game.

          Source please?

but now that Rockstar is involved, it's quite possible that they will be cracking down on keys bought with a VPN

          Source please?

        • How about some sources?

…the above posts, the weight of my word as a fellow cd key store owner, Far Cry 4. Take some initiative and do a Google search.

:EDIT: As the comment has been downvoted for providing the source, you might not of seen it. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189632#comment-2674247

:EDIT1: Feel free to jump on the bandwagon, mate. I wont be replying to any more comments. I've said what I've had to say. You guys can either adhere to my suggestion or you can buy from Nuuvem and hope for the best. It's all up to you.

        • -1

          @Dagmar:

I seen the comment, but it's not about region locking. It's about a request to restrict purchase, a practice which is not at all uncommon on Nuuvem. It stands the reason why most games there require the use of a VPN to be able to add to the cart.

Region locking and purchase restrictions are 2 very different things and you shouldn't be trying to convince people otherwise.

And a bulletin that came up just in the last 15 minutes from one of my suppliers stated that they are region locking to Asia.

You are an unauthorized key reseller getting your keys from an unauthorized key supplier. They are not in so their bulletin means very little especially if you aren't going to share it with us.

I heavily suggest buying it elsewhere as I expect this to be this years Far Cry 4 (uPlay removed third party cd keys of FC4)

I think those keys were stolen. Regardless, Ubisoft has a history of retroactively region locking, revoking keys and generally just being a dick of a company. If Rockstar turns into the next Ubisoft I'll eat my hat.

        • @Dagmar:

You guys can either adhere to my suggestion or you can buy from Nuuvem and hope for the best. It's all up to you.

So you won't mind when I suggest in your next deal that people shouldn't buy from you?

You are after all unauthorized so people would just have to hope for the best :P

        • +1

          shouldn't buy from you

I cannot stop you nor would I ask you not to. It is public knowledge that I use the same suppliers as cdkeys.com and other legitimate sites. If you feel my service is in anyway not safe, then I encourage you to express your concerns and warn potential customers. However, by saying that, I believe my prior customer service and satisfaction should be considered. It's a good thing that I'm not saying never to buy from Nuuvem because that would just be wrong. You take care, Kamoi, I hope you enjoy your day.

        • @Dagmar: http://i.imgur.com/MgqzKyE.jpg

I trust Nuuvem staff more than your suppliers.

        • Okay.

        • +2

@Dagmar: Thanks for the heads up.
Doesn't surprise me that they are doing this, and it may not even come to pass, but appreciate the warning all the same. Not sure why people are being a dick about your comments, but that seems to be OZB nowadays. Have an upvote for the friendly advice.

        • @Magpye: People aren't being dicks, in fact you should appreciate the different views and perspectives presented on ozbargain to increase your knowledge as a consumer. Sit back, relax and save money!

    • +1

Is there a source on that, im would like to read up about it?

    • +8

The keys removed from owners of FC4 were bought with stolen credit cards though, Nuuvem is a reputable dealer.

The risk of having no English language available or not being able to launch the game due to region locking is real though.

      • +1

The keys removed from owners of FC4 were bought with stolen credit cards though,

50% right. Cdkeys.com also sold keys that were later retracted by Ubisoft. Cdkeys.com refunded every affected customer

  • +3

    Only steam offers steam version

Also, EB Games confirmed that the retail version will activate on Steam.

    • Cheers, I updated the post

    • +1

All retail versions? So JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman as well?

      • So JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman as well?

I would assume so being that there is only a standard version being sold. I would request that you'd check with the store as I don't want to be the reason people say "my JB HI-FI copy isn't Steam activated" :)

    • Sorry do you have a source for that please?

Last I heard Gamestop (EB) with just Rockstar Social Club keys

      • source

Verbally asked and confirmed by staff. The small font on EB's product page no longer has the "activates on Rockstar". If still worried, ask your local EB staff.

        • +1
        • Hey man, thanks for the link. Do you know when that was Tweeted? I pre-ordered Wednesday under the condition that it was Steam activated. It is possible it changed soon after, as the guys question in the Tweet was posted Thursday (was it this Thursday though?). I also went to EB Games' Facebook and asked and Jem just confirmed it's not Steam activated. I'll PM the OP/report to the mods to get the deal description changed. I will be cancelling my pre-order now that it's been (re)confirmed.

        • +2

Did a little search of Twitter myself. EB Games confirmed today that they're not selling Steam copies of GTA 5. They didn't even know themselves until today.

This comes after staff confirming it did in store and then indirectly confirming on their Facebook that it does activate on Steam.

So to clarify 100%, GTA 5 only activates on Steam when bought from Steam. Nowhere else.

  • +4

I can not comment on keys purchased now from Nuuvem, but I purchased this game from Nuuvem on the 17th of Feb (before VPN requirement) and have just finished downloading the preload from Rockstar. Key activated without problem on the Rockstar website and the game is in English.

    • How do you know its in english if we cannot launch yet?

      • +9

During installation of the preload it asks you which language you want to install.

        • ah cool

        • +1

it says its going to take me 1 day and 10 hours to download it, and my net is crazy fast lol but only getting 220kb/sec

        • @Slippy: lol, same here except my net is close to being that low anyway….

        • @Slippy:

Pre-load on steam took about 8 hours. I eas sleeping for most of t but I did see rates of 5MB/sec consistently and it peaked at 11MB/sec.

    • I purchased April 3rd (VPN required), worked just the same as yours.

  • Is the Rockstar software similar to UPlay/Origin, where there's an integrated store and your game library?
I couldn't find a link to the software when I checked out their website.

    • +2

yeah it seems similar to uplay, has like store/games and shows your carreer progress both on ps3 and PC kind of thing when you click on games, has a friends list aswell etc etc

  • What's the best deal on a Steam or Physical copy?

    • Steam copy is from a reddit reseller was $US44 but as of April 1st the Vietnamese store changed the price and the reddit sellers are at $US48.

      • I bought from j3rrie. Join his steam group and contact him via steam's group chat. $US48 (plus PayPal fees, cheapest is via bank transfer even with 28 degrees CC) was approx $AU65 in the end on April 6th.

  • +2

I'm getting a 404 error trying to buy it. Anyone else?

    • Me too :-(

    • edit:

once you get to the payment selection, turn off hola and it seemed to get further?

    • +3
      1. Create account / log into your account without Hola.
      2. Once logged in, turn on Hola to Brazil
      3. Add to cart, and complete the checkout process.
      • Damn, I can log in but then when I activate hola for Brazil the page refreshes and I'm logged out. I click log in and I go to a 404….

        • +1

Still having this problem, subywagon? I had it when I was trying to get Cities: Skylines a couple of weeks ago. I kept trying and it eventually worked. I got a 404 once today, tried again, and it worked. My mate tried about 30 times and couldn't get through - so I ended up buying it for him.

        • +1

@johnno07: Success! I worked out what I was doing wrong thanks to Ozbargain! I tried to reply to your post and Ozbargain said "Access Denied" it did the same thing when I was using a VPN, so I noticed that Hola was on, using the Australian flag. So I realised that it was active. I de-activated it properly for Nuuvem (Off symbol not Australian flag) and then switched back to Brazil as needed and it worked!

  • I expect the mod community to be pretty strong on this game, if you purchase this you won't get the benefit of the steam workshop

    • +4

Steam workshop for gta isnt a thing

    • -1

Rockstar have never supported modding GTA games.

See hot coffee mod as an example. They don't like people being able to add their own content because R* want to sell DLC. Why by DLC if someone has created a mod for it?

Also, workshop only exists where steamworks exists. Since R* is using their own client, it doesn't work.

The only modding you'll see for the game is probably graphics and maybe small tweaks like cars sliding around like crazy. Basically what GTA IV has.

      • +1

Rockstar didn't like Hot Coffee mod because it was a PR disaster, DLC wasn't even common at that time.

Rockstar have a history with mods. GTA London 1961 was made by Rockstar using dev tools licensed from the community because it was better than their own.

They used to post GTA IV mods to the newswire.

Modding will occur with or without Rockstar's support, that's a given. GTA Modders are determined, and capable of anything.

I can assure you that GTA mods have extended beyond mere tweaks. There are total conversions and totally new content and mechanisms that have been added across the series.

GTA San Andreas is STILL being actively modded. The multiplayer mods for GTA San Andreas are far better than what GTA Online has to offer. I tried it for a little while and it was surreal playing a Role Playing Game (with 100+ players acting in their own character, on their own accord) inside GTA:SA of all places. They had players acting as DMV staff holding drivers license tests for other players at the Driving School and everything.

When you release the biggest GTA ever into their hands there are no limits of what could happen.

        • They had players acting as DMV staff holding drivers license tests for other players at the Driving School and everything.

Holy crap that sounds amazing! Got a link?

        • +1

@leonheart1: If I remember correctly, it would have been early on with one of the first releases of the SA-MP project I found a server randomly and that's what happened so I'm guessing around 2005 era.

Someone approached me about what gang I'm from, I made up I'm from Yakuza, Yuko Smeg from Osaka Japan. I found other players also pretending to be Yakuza and strangely everyone's first idea is to say they are from Osaka too. I formed an alliance with someone. Then about 2 hours later some other player I hadn't met before approached me outside Jizzy B's Pleasure Domes and proposed an alliance with him. I said no, I already have an alliance. Then the person that I originally made an alliance with teleported over and said I passed the test of loyalty… I was like wtf! That's pretty extreme roleplay.

I was promoted in the gang and I didn't even have my drivers license yet (the server locks you out of all cars until you get one and they only let people apply for licenses every few hours, and the tests are like a real driving license test too).

I probably played it intensely for about 7 days, then I realised what the (profanity) am I doing with my life, this is sad and pathetic so take this roleplay seriously and quit.

If you Google "San Andreas roleplay" there seems to be an active group and some Youtube videos giving you an idea of what they get up to. Not sure if this is the same group I encountered but it could well be.

        • @The Land of Smeg:
Hahaha! Yeah will definitely check that out, sounds awesome!

Yeah it's not something I would spend days on but might give it a shot since I just installed GTA SA again a few days ago. Thanks for the heads up!

        • @leonheart1: Be prepared - SAMP is bat-shit crazy. All manner of insane stuff going on right from the time you login (which is a task in itself). Not to mention some of the mechanics are pretty opaque. If you don't have someone to help you through the first few hours, you might not have the best time you could have!

  • +3

    cheaper than kmart

  • +1

Had my eye on this for a while…

Not sure what people mean by the steam workshop- the mod community for GTA:IV was huge and I never touched steam to do modding.

  • for paypal users, you will need to take off your security key before proceeding to the check out or it won't be successful.

  • 1st time using Nuuvem, can someone please briefly explain how it works? Do we purchase an activation code from Nuuvem, then go to steam store (AU) to activate & download the game? Thanks!

    • +1

It'll be a Rockstar Warehouse (RSWH) code. They have a web interface for activation and pre-load.

      • Thanks a lot!

      • Do I need to use VPN for the activation on RSWH?

        • +2

I just did it then and no, I didn't need it.

        • @crayner: Thank you for your reply! I will buy it now

  • +1

Thanks OP, it works perfectly. I activated my code on Rockstar social club and I got $850000 preorder award

  • +14

    Complete step by step guide:

    1. Go to nuuvem.com and make an account
    2. Download hola plug in and enable browsing from brazil
    3. Already logged in, add GTA to cart
    4. Checkout with paypal
    5. A rockstar code will appear in your account under my games in nuuvem
    6. Go to socialclub.rockstar.com and login
    7. click the settings/gear icon and click game downloads
    8. Enter rockstar code.
    9. Click Download for Windows
    10. GTAV_Setup_Tool.exe (175mb) will begin downloading
    11. I'm at step 10, should be straight forward from there.
    • +2

I checked out with paypal successfully but can't find the rockstar code anywhere

      • If you go here after signing in:

https://secure.nuuvem.com.br/minha-conta (which is the 'My account' page) and click on the icon for GTA V under "Meus Games" (ie purchase history) it will take you to a page that should list your code. They do not email the code to you if that is what you were expecting.

    • How in Gods name did you navigate Nuuvem ? (Google translator I guess)
EDIT: Actually it's not that bad.

  • Does anyone know the size of the game? Hard drive space required is 65gb but I dont think it is that big at open

Update: pre load is 59 GB so you might want to check your Internet provider if you can get it on free download quota if you have that

  • Can you still get any preorder bonuses?

    • +1

Yes you can, I got mine $850,000

      • wooo hooo we're gonna be rich!
I'd have to murder so many prostitutes to get that

  • They must have worked out we are using hola?

  • +1

Where is the Rockstar code on Nuuvem?
I see an order number, a date of game request, and the bottom one which is supposedly the activation key, which looks like a sentence and a date.
Edit: How long did it take for the code to show up in your account on Nuuvem? Was it instant or did you have to wait for it?

    • +1

I'm getting this too. Hopefully they haven't run out of keys.

    • +1

      Profile (top-right) > Meus Games > Click GTA 5

It's the 12 alphanumeric code under the title: "Chave de instalação/ativação"

If it's not there, perhaps Nuuvem caught onto people using Hola to pre-order…

EDIT: Code appeared instantly for me last night.

      • Yeh, its shows the release date there now

        • Same issue. Hopefully it gets resolved soon

      • Yep, where the code is supposed to be, it says:
        Pré-venda, liberação em 14/04/2015

        (Pre-order, release on 04.14.2015)

      • +1

I don't see why Nuuvem would suddenly catch onto people now… I think the deal's been on Reddit for over a month. And don't quote me on this, but how would Nuuvem be able to tell that we bought it through a VPN? It's not like there's a sign that screams "SHINY1 MADE AN ACCOUNT WITH A VPN! BAN HIM!". Besides, wouldn't they want more business, as shady as it seems?

        • +1

Yeh, more likely that they are out of keys at the moment.

  • Anyone else getting 404 error page when going to checkout?
While using Hola it comes up, without it on it doesn't.

    • +1

I think you have to turn it off to pay for it, then turn it back on to browse.

      • +1

Worked by making an account with Hola off.

  • Bought it but couldn't get my code. I smell trouble

Pré-venda, liberação em 14/04/2015 instead of my key.

  • Can anyone give me a TL;DR of what the pros and cons are of getting it off of Nuuvem as opposed to Steam (besides the cost)? Cheers.

    • Pros: Cheaper
      Cons: Not Steam

    • +1

From what I've gathered it's the same. Only difference would be your steam friends can't view that you're in-game and no steam overlay in-game but that should be solvable in a few seconds buy clicking add non steam game to library.

      • +3

You an add any .exe to steam and then call it what you want in the preferences, so your Steam friends can see.

I tricked a friend into thinking I was part of the GTA V PC Beta by adding notepad.exe to Steam and giving it that name.

I went a step further by telling him I had 10 beta keys to give away, but I had given them all out already (he is a huge GTA fan).

He was so pissed off at me for so long and he didn't even see the humor in it after I told him it was a joke, and how I did it.

    • +1

There is also the quota issue, no chance to get quota free 59 GB download

  • +1

For everyone that doesn't have the code showing up yet, and instead showing "Pré-venda, liberação em 14/04/2015", give em time.

It took them 5 hours for the code to appear in my account.

    • Especially since it's the middle of the night in Brazil right now..

      • You purchased yours on the 5/04.

Things might have changed since then?

        • I guess it took him 5 hrs to get the code on 5/04 when he purchased it
