Royal Brunei Sale MEL- LHR. Various Prices. May $1272 Dec to Jan 3rd $1510.22 Y Return

70

Fare third May for fortnight are $1272.22 in Economy. Fares December prior to return on Jan 3rd 2016 are $1595.22

I was tempted by earlier Oz Bargain post re Garuda deal over Dec holiday period prior to finding this deal as an alternative to long 9 hour stop over in Indonesia

Royal Brunei has two short stop overs, one in Brunei, Small, not much to do airport and Dubai on way to London. Possibly a fare would be a little cheaper still if you check with Expedia and perhaps check with www.skyscanner.com.au

You do fly in Dream liner 787 and if you have long legs aim for row 43 which has plenty of leg room but close to toilets . No alcohol served but all articles on jetlag suggest that this will ameliorate jetlag. No alcohol and no coffee helps. I know some will think it worth the risk and fly with another carrier.
I have found the dreamliner comfy and staff are most helpful. lots of fruit juice and water served constantly. I rang Royal Brunei office as they are always helpful and I wanted a combined Y and J class on return. Was advised that travel agents can do likewise. haven't found a website that allows this combination fare.

Is the fare even Y? As in Y bucket?

And as I try and say here on Ozbargain, this isn't AFF or FT. Not everyone is going to know what Y or J means, so maybe just write Economy or Business.

Being a non-drinker, the lack of alcohol doesn't worry me, and I was tempted by some of their business class specials a while back….. until I read about the whole Sharia law thing.

    • Well Alcohol is not served or allowed on board
a few times i saw people have (BYO)from Dubai airport duty free shop, drank some of the booze ,after connection in Bandar Seri Begawan, the rest of the booze was taken from them
there is no jail or whipping.
I flew 5 times ,last 2 times i flew with the Dreamliner 787 ,best plane ever.
      :-)

      • there is no jail or whipping.

They must've refrained from sodomy and adultery, then. :p

        • just like jesus preached. wwjd

    • what were you planning to do onboard so you're afraid of sharia law? care to explain what sharia law is?

don't want to go to bali because the bali nine execution. don't want to eat egg because halal/kosher sign. don't want to use royal brunei because the sharia law. why make life difficult based on assumption? do we really know what we're talking about before rushing into emotional decision?

What people can't do without booze for meezy 24 hours at most. I rather have good flight without out booze than crap one with booze.

    • I'm putting my hand up. I confess, I love booze. And on a flight it just seems even better. Ok I admit it, I have a problem. Mmmm need to go find me an Ozbargain uncle Dan's special.

  • It's not about the booze, or lack of. As I said in my first post, I don't drink.

For me, it's a moral issue. If you're comfortable with the dictator who owns the show introducing laws that would see the residents of Brunei subject to death by stoning for engaging in gay sex or adultery, then fine.

    • moral? have you read bible, old testament?

      • No, I have no time for religion. (But if people want to follow one, in a way which doesn't adversely affect others, then good for them.)

        • I think his point is that every culture has experienced violence and tyranny in some stage in their history…
