Good value for the Seagate drive, but unfortunately bad reviews. Prone to crash by the looks of it.

      • What the hell? Now those are the poorest product reviews I've ever seen. How can WD and SG release such crummy products to the market?

I never, ever, shop at HT anymore.

I had a Western Digital hard drive fail and they fought tooth and nail to not provide a replacement.

HT is on my ban list for life.

@YesPleaseThankYou: You could deal with WD directly…

@Shadowsfury: No, you deal with the person who sold you the goods.

You work for a retailer do you? They're always trying to funnel responsibility back to the manufacturer.

  • Web site also says "Not for delivery" :-( so pickup only I presume

  • Yeah I'm sorry but I wouldn't trust a review from CNet.

That said, these kinds of peripherals you don't have much choice.

  • 1tb sold out :(

  • i bought the 1tb yesterday and have been giving it hell for the last 24 hours ,its the best ext drive i have bought yet ! hope i say the same thing next week :)

  • hey rewstar . i selected the 1TB from the HT website and it says the following:
Pickup: Available at Osborne Park Business Centre (WA) . Availability
So i'm guessing you can actually go collect these if you're anywhere OP

One thing that gets me .. it says Pickup only .. but why is the box for delivery still enabled and you can put your postcode in and get the delivery fee amount.

Re the comments bout the hard drives from the CNET site .. dont Seagate do 3 year warranties on all their HDD's? So in theory if it was to break.. you could get it replaced.

Replacing the drive won't replace your data :)

Better to get a reliable drive than to worry about replacing a dodgy one afterwards.

You clearly don't know the meaning of backup. It means keeping at least 2 copies of the same file separately.

        • I clearly do. I backup religously.

Most people would buy these external drives for BACKUP or for large media files.

  • Thanks for posting this. I picked up a 1TB drive from the Canberra store this morning.

  • harvey norman have the iomage prestige 1tb external hard drive for $124. it uses the seagate barracuda hdd. very quick and extremely quite. not a bad deal considering msy sell the hdd itself for $95.

  • Where is the link for the device ? Cant find it..
