IF you can get your hands on one…

But most reviews seem to state that your lucky if it turns on

Friends-Don't buy it..I took the risk last time when they had it for $35 and was expecting it to at least browse the internet or as a kids touch device..Within one hour after receiving it, i was back at DS and got the refund. It just freeze and won't respond to any touch..worked for few minutes after hard resets and then back to freeze..Keep miles away from it..

      • This reminded me that I forgot to take mine back, if someone wants it maybe PM me

  • +6

Mine died after maybe 5hrs use, even at $19 its expensive

You probably should delete this before brucefromaustralia sees it.
    He will go off!

I use mine in my shed for greasy searching of "how-do-I-fix-that-random-engine-part?" and sat it on the back of the ute. Drove off, heard it hit the road, went back, clipped it all back together, works fine! Well, fine as a slow tablet can work… :-)

    • +2

So it fell off the back of a truck, hey? That's what I call an Ozbargainer!

  • This is a rather expensive door stopper.

  • Mine's still going but it's painfully slow and awful.

  • Black or HOT PINK?

  • it makes a barely passable low res picture frame

    800 x 480 i gather?

I got 5 of these well before DS rebranded them, and only 2 of them still work. I think I got a few days out of one of them and the other two gave up within a couple of months. The kids aren't stupid enough to go anywhere near these things anymore. Total waste of time even considering buying them. Owners of these tablets will let you know just how poor the build quality is. I had to pull one apart to line up the usb and charging ports, and was surprised at how empty the insides are. There is a tiny battery hot glued to the back side of the tablet and barely soldered. Even the slightest drop and the batter could shift enough to break the connections. No wonder these things don't work.

    TLDR: Don't buy!

    • Wouldn't blaim them, it won't even play 3D games without stuttering like crap. That's if you can even get the game to start. To sum it up an awful tablet computer. This is why they want to get rid of it for $19.

  • if we ask for refund at DSE,is the postage refund as well?

    • +1

Pretty bad when you've got to consider refund and returns before even buying the thing.
Zillions of cheap < $50 tablets on aliexpress etc. Anyone got a suggestion for alternative to this POC?

  • +3

Thanks for the info all; at that price I was initially going to buy one, but now I won't thanks to the heads up.

  • +1

I bought one a few months ago and luckily it still works, it's a bit slow and glitchy but for $19 it's worth buying imho.

  • and i was thinking I may be able to use them as a digital photo frame

    • It would be relatively crap as that too

  • pretty expensive coaster

Hopefully it will play the crappy lullaby app that is currently keeping my 1 year old asleep. It's currently running on my Nexus 10 that I really want back. Bought 2 just in case 1 is a lemon and has to go back for a refund.

    • Chuckle, let me guess skegs; it plays that BRAHMS tune ('Lullaby, and goodnight…')? Weird how that tune calms almost all babies so predictably…

      • Nah, Rockabye baby.

        • mmm thought it would work just as well using a 10 year oldmp3 capable phone, I have a stackof those oldphones now

    • For the price of 2 you could have got something a little decent

      • A decent Android tablet for $44.95?

        • Pretty sure Coles had a few some time ago for about $50, they were quad core MTKs but in short supply, admittedly that was a bit special. If you are willing to get a dual core it shouldn't be too hard to find something.

        • Is $60 close enough? Only took a minute to find: http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_409198_7inch_Dual_Core_HD…

Do yourself a favour, steer clear unless you have a very specific job for this tablet that you know will work

  • +2

Any chance it'll work as an in car gps?

    • i hope this is bait

      0/10

    • +2

Given the lack of GPS in this device, no chance.

    • Why pretend to be "associated" with a $20 junk tablet julz!? Slip-of-the-mouse?!?

      • +3

I accidentally clicked associated ages ago and now I'm stuck with the stigma of being associated with dick smith 😢

        • Fixed. Just TWAM or hit the report button if it happens again.

        • @hamza23: cool thanks!

  • +3

My cats been asking for one since donkey years

    Finally i got her one.

  • +1

Great, I paid before I saw all the negative comments. I guess for $25 thought I can't expect much, I'm sure I'll find somewhere to use it, for the short amount of time it's going to work anyway by the sounds of things lol

  • i wouldn't pay a dollar for it

  • +1

    needs moar dedotated wam

  • DO NOT BUY THIS! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!

I brought two last time. Played with the first one for an hour, slowest pos I've ever used, most apps won't work on it then I threw it in the bin. Didn't bother opening the second one, went straight in the bin when i moved house.

Everything about this is terrible and horrible.

    • +1

Please hand in your Ozbargain membership, you realise you are entitled to a full refund under Aus consumer law as it's not fit for purpose.

      • +7

But he didn't buy it though, he "brought" it.

  • Why didn't I read the comments, I'm dumb af.

  • The plastic recycled from this device probably worth more than the device it self.

  • bought one yesterday. kept crashing and freezing from about 30 seconds of use each restart. also there was no keyboard interface whenever i wanted to type anything. did a factory reset through the settings then the tablet kept saying "unfortunately Loader stopped" so couldnt use it at all. then did a hard reset in recovery mode still had the same problem. after pressing the reset button at the back, everything fixed. working great for me right now havnt had any problems :D

  • Mine didn't boot up after 5 months of usage but I had no problems getting a refund from DSE.
They just wanted to see a picture of the boot screen error.

If you want a cheap tablet to surf the net, read PDfs and watch 1080p videos this will do. Games including simple ones are not recommended though.

BTW price should be changed to $20.15 delivered after the 20% eBay discount.

Too bad I've already got 2 other branded tablets else I'm tempted in getting another one and if it stuff's up again I'll just get a refund.

    • I disagree with the surfing the net part, it's terrible, even with one tab open its slow on many sites

      • i find that the default web browser performs worse than the chrome app if you havnt considered that already

        • tried at least default, chrome, some other crappy browsers too (maxthon was one, there was another). Didn't find any of them less than frustrating.

        • @Jackson:

I can't remember which browser I used. I think it was both the default one as well as Chrome.
I do remember webpages loading slower than Firefox on my laptop and that's no surprised but it was ok. What I also did was saving the pages for offline reading and I had a few of them opened with no problems.
          Youtube was also fine surprisingly.

  • Got it just now..

    Internet slower than snail!!!!

Facebook, skype, youtube and iview is not usable…what a piece of junk!!!

  • two arrived, both DOA…
    fail

  • Got mine delivered today. They work (haven't played much with them) but they're purple instead of the black version that I ordered. Contacted dickies and will see what they want to do.

    • Well after getting them re-delivered 3 times, they're still purple, despite DSE saying "they only come in black".
