$269 - Phillips GC8642 PerfectCare Steam Iron - The Good Guys

60

I bought this model like 4 days ago for $279, now price is dropped extra $10. Thegoodguys don't do the 30 days price guarantee on their own store (damn)

anyways, i've used this product like once so far, did several shirts, it was super quick, clean and seamless.

however, you will need a new ironing board to support the steam iron, i also had to buy the phillips iron board (http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/philips-easy-ironing-board-gc2…).

This is a good iron! easily cut down the amount of time I spend ironing by half vs my old GC4630.
Bought mine from myer during a previous special for $199 I believe though.

  • I grabbed this when they had the promotion late last year. I was sceptical if it would be any better than a regular iron but its definitely cut my ironing time down and its had no issue with the variety of fabrics I've thrown at it - no more worrying about settings or it being too hot for certain fabrics and leaving marks or shiny areas.

fwiw I don't think you need a new ironing board to get the most out of the product, there are just ironing boards designed with these more in mind.

    • i was due for an ironing board, my old ironing board left imprints on my clothes with my $20 iron.

i check the youtube review on the ironing board, easier to iron shirts with the extra sleeve holders, and WOW an extra storage spot for a remote control or anything.

the cord holder was nice, no more tangles when i iron, but for $139 find this overpriced, but i guess i was lazy to do research like a true ozbargainer (manage to get $5 off the iron board though, its something i guess)

  • At this price point, it seems like a luxury item. An iron a third of this price works just fine.

Cant you iron on the dining table?

  • Got this a couple of weeks ago. Excellent iron with many features (use tap water (has it's own de-scaler you clean every 6 months), no temp settings to mess about with, 2 minute heat up, loads of steam holes (many others, even same brand, don't have steam holes in the botton section of the iron) etc). Wife is very impressed with it. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

We didn't need to buy a Phillips ironing board though… that just sounds strange.

  • new ironing board?? no you don't.

this is an awesome iron though.. anything that cut down ironing time is a win for me. linen done in no time!

  • Great iron, cuts down ironing time a lot plus clothes look so much better.
BTW I have this Philips Easy8 ironing board and its quite good. But after a few months, the heavy iron base has started to tilt it a bit.
Before this, I had the Aldi's ironing board and it was a similar size and quality and supported the philips iron just as well.

  • I've just spoken to Phillips Customer support: 02 9912 4490. Apparently they are having trouble loading the promotion redemption on their website and they are "busy" trying to fix it. I was told to wait a few days and try again, otherwise call the number to go through it over the phone.
