great in specs, also attractive pricing but what about software support? upgrade capability of the software from official parties? prospect for 5.0?

The competitive advantages now falls on Android OS that has support from the producer or else Google.

Not every one can upgrade to 5.0 via third party MTK chipset support such as loading MiUI etc.

Else this phone will stay forever on 4.2 version of the OS

    • I never understand this as a criticism. The phone is $100. You can spend $300+ on a branded phone that will get upgrades and end up with a slow old phone running newer Android in 2 years, or spend $100 now and $100 in a couple of years for the latest cheap China phone then.

These ain't old feature phones that its software are comparatively stable, these are devices with millions of lines of codes and given google, owner of the OS themselves have tons of bugs on their Nexus devices, what guarantees third party software be any better? in fact they are NOT from experiences. Even it stays on 4.2 it is better off to have a avenue for software updates.

Also, given the hardware with 2G ram and rather powerful CPU is more than capable of running future Androids versions, instead stuck with a one year old OS for years to come?

Many buyers often neglect softside of a product in forms of software!

        • Unfortunately this is the case with mediatek, however I'm sure many people who buy these phones (including myself) buy such phones with the intention of replacing them within a years time. As mskeggs said they're that cheap that you can and besides the china phone market moves equally as fast. This phone is already 2 generations behind and the phones that replace it at it's price point are now using it's successor the MTK6592. Also it should be noted that they seem to be getting better, several upcoming china phones have Android 5.0. Previously the gap in software was 2 and it seems to be catching up.

    • 16 gig vs 32 gig

      • ok, thanks

  • 2000mah battery on a 5.7" display? Battery life will be pretty terrible..

  • nice built in storage.. . if only it did not come at the expense of b3 1800mhz & a 5.x

  • anyone know if the unit come with Google framework such as play store, Gmail etc?

  • Hey rep, are you sure it does WCDMA 850 (for Telstra)? Your website only states 2100
