I grabbed one from one of the sililarly priced deals last week.
Overall, first impressions have been extremely good.
I know that I won't be playing any graphics intensive games on this thing (that's not really my thing nowadays), but the phone feels quite snappy under normal day to day use. The screen may not be an OLED, but it looks extremely good to my untrained eye.
One huge plus for this phone is the extremely clean android ROM - and this is coming from someone who spent the last several generations running LineageOS on Xiaomi/POCO phones. It's not quite pristine, but having seen what passes for normal nowadays (I'm looking at you Oppo. You should be embarrassed at the state at which you ship the Oppo a80 5G. My god, if you're gonna force tens of unwanted crap on me, at least preinstall it - not waste my data by force download/installing them.) I was more than impressed by the small handfull of mainstream apps that were easily removed.
I know Moto phones have a clean Android ROM (as I've had a Moto phone before), and I've run LOS-based ROMs for many, many years too (on many phones, including current Xiaomi / POCO phones).
I was more interested in the camera , because I want to recommend this phone to someone.
( I've always spruiked Moto phones to be excellent bang-for-buck phones, with an average camera )
Yeah. I've had three mid-range Motos in a row now (Moto G5 Plus, Moto G 5G Plus, Moto Edge 30) and while I've generally been very happy with them for the OzB prices I paid, the cameras have always been the weak point. In fact the camera performance seems to get worse each new phone, to the point that the Edge 30 camera is quite horrible with lots of distortion around the edge of pictures, awful blurring in indoor lighting, the video camera glitches every few seconds [seems to be caused by the case - which is necessay because the camera protrudes and breaking the glass over the lens was a common issue with the Moto G5 Plus].
It boasts great hardware specs and features, (4k and Slow-motion video recording for example), but struggles to take a simple photo.
The software also has a bunch of fiters and editing features, which are ok. But the stock camera app defaults to HDR mode every time the app is closed.
Purchased a Nokia G22 refurb after my Pixel7 pro's battery became swollen, used the option to connect a cable between the 2 phones and the G22 was almost a clone of how the pixel was set up, most other phones other than pixel drive me nuts due to the bloat and crap things like the timer/alarm not being as good as a Pixels … use the timer and alarm constantly, but this $140 phone has been brilliant! camera has been good also.
