    Hi

you list a few "builds" i.e. "OpenBuilds OX CNC Router – Large" but TBH I couldn't be shagged entering all those items into my cart to find out how much it would cost to buy the build from you.

Why not list the builds as 'kits' on your shop - when you make things easy for the customer they're more inclined to buy.

    • Thanks for the feedback.

Most customers like to customize their builds. We have found that having a "kit" actually makes ordering a longer process.

As a compromise the OX CNC machines have a BOM spreadsheet that helps customers chose the parts for their build. This can emailed to us and we will process the order from the spreadsheet and email an invoice and payment options.

I hope this addresses your feedback.

This is the first time we have listed a sale on OzBargin so your input is appreciated.

      • Hi makerstore
I am new to cnc and 3d printing, but very keen to get one for to build my DIY arcade machine.
Can you advise me on how much does the large build on your website? What can I practically achieve with it? What materials I can use? And does the kit include everything out of the box? Thanks

        • Hi,

Take a look at the Bill of Materials.

This lists all the parts needed for the mechanical build along with the prices. You will still need to buy stepper motors, controller and spindle.

For more details of the build, see:
          http://www.openbuilds.com/builds/openbuilds-ox-cnc-machine.3…

There is a heap of info on how to build and modify the Ox CNC Machine. The forums are a great place to see exactly what can be done. Basically you can mill most things including soft metals (i.e., aluminum), plastics, and woods.

As I mention above, it is not an "out of the box kit". It is a project that you can make your own by tweaking and hacking the design.

          Cheers!

      Just as an FYI….

I know you mentioned the large version, but I chucked together the small one to see for myself and thought it might be useful in your initial calculations. All those little bits and pieces sure do add up.

      https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18kKdle6WtmYl6Xors0HF…

As mentioned by MakerStore, this is only for the framework and doesn't include any electronics so you will need to factor that in also.

      • Thanks mate for the effort, so for the extra things like motors and everything how much does it cost do you know? I am a total newbee and was looking at cnc on the eBay but didn't have a clue.

        • If you are building an Ox, about $100-150 for NEMA23 steppers.

The controller is really a price/quality issue. Cheap ones are on ebay. I use a Gecko G540 and it works well.

For a spindle you can use a trimmer or router, or buy a purpose made CNC spindle (again price/quality, check ebay for examples - search "CNC spindle").

Email me and we can discuss further steven at makerstore.com.au

          Cheers,

  • Just had parts for the android camera slider delivered, ordered Wednesday afternoon and arrived this morning. The post charges were simple and reasonable and it was well packed although I did think the Fragile sticker was overkill for v-slot rails :)

Only issue I had, and it was a small one, was that the online bill of materials was incomplete since it was missing details for the IR controller and the M3 screws. In particular the M3 nuts and screws did not specify the length required. As a newb to this a complete and correct materials list is important to me. But overall very impressed.
