So I was thinking how I always order just a burger and water at McDonalds because I prefer to not drink soda. Then how you can sometimes replace parts of your order at KFC for upsizes and was wondering if it was possible to replace the can of soft drink for a large chips in a combo, and to then order water?
Your question is a little hard to follow, but if I understand it correctly; You want to order a combo that comes with Sml Chips and a Can, then remove the can and upgrade to a Large chips? I know if you get the box deals you can mix and match easily, but not sure about just the chip/can combo.
You might have to swap the chips back for a bottle of Cool Ridge Water.

If the store you visit supports the xpress App you should be able to customise the order.
I recall an option for bottled water at no charge.
Regardless of the Xpress App, I usually always pay 80c extra to upsize the Pepsi Max.
You can get a better value than a chips upsize when trading in the can of drink eg: I've gotten small coleslaw or potato/gravy instead of a drink. My local has told me I can pretty much swap anything of similar value provided it's not chicken
They pretty much seem to let you swap "sides" of the same size, for example I always swap the large chips for either large potato/gravy or a 1.25l drink bottle. They'll probably swap a drink can for a small chips (but not large) or a bottle of water. If you drink water though you'd be better off bringing your own.
I can't see why not - I've sometimes ordered just a drink upsize or just a chips upsize.
