they are knockoffs
yep -third party item
buy one but dont expect much… be that as it may, i bought and official controller for $35 and its also a bit meh but i dislike ds3
@tonyjzx:
where do you buy an official one for $35 ?
so does it work like a normal one does???
Yeah except they won't feel as good or be as responsive. The vibration might not work properly and the battery life may be atrocious.
Are you basing your experience from this particular controller from this seller?
I've used all sorts of third party controllers, and some I couldn't tell the difference between the original.
nope not this seller. But this looks like cheap chinese crap. Not a legit company that makes third party controllers.
I wish I had your luck.
I have one 3rd party controller and it works very very well — EXCEPT for the directional buttons needing slightly more pressure to register and shorter battery life.
If anyone has any tips as how to pick the best 3rd party controllers, I'm all ears.

The one thing I have learned over the years of console playing is DO NOT BUY NON GENUINE CONTROLLERS. The old megadrive and nes olympics games needed turbo alot, controllers with this feature were the only exception to the rule.
These are good to throw across the room when you get frustrated during a game. Good anger outlet while keeping the official controller/s pristine :)
Kmart sell the same fake model for $25.
Do all third party controllers have to modify the triangle, X, O, Square buttons? They look silly. And it's silly of Sony to let people make their own controllers but not allow them to keep the same looking button labels.
1) Yes, the icons are trademarked. So they must be changed.
2) Sony don't 'let' others make these. They are unauthorized. They don't sick their lawyers onto these manufacturers, they don't try to prohibit their sale, they don't even say you can't make them, therefore, they let them.
Get your facts right. Sony use open standard compliant Bluetooth for their controllers, there's no legal avenue for them to prevent third parties manufacturing controllers. Compare this to Microsoft that use proprietary wireless for their controller, which is why there are far few third party controllers for their systems.
@PainToad: We seem to be splitting hairs on we define the word 'let'. Can I say I'm not letting you build a house next to me, if there's no legal way to stop you? No. Therefore I have no choice but to let you.
Sony lets people make 3rd party controllers because they have no choice. That doesn't mean they give their blessing, and I never claimed they did. If you're not going to stop someone from doing something, either because you can't or because you don't think it's worth the trouble, then you are letting them do it. Have Sony ever even opposed them, or asked them not to?
Cheaper here for $12 AUD including delivery.
Just as 'Third Party' as Rep's but you do save a few more dollars.
blue… lol. awesome.
These are not genuine Sony Dualshock 3 controllers. They are fakes. You can tell by the little button in the middle of the controller saying P3 but the genuine Dualshock 3 controllers have the Sony Playstation logo there. I just hope you's know that it's a fake.
Dur.
Do yourself a favour if you are seriously thinking of buying these.
Save up and just buy the official ones… they are not even that much expensive as they used to be and are considered cheap now. Trust me.. you don't want to have to keep on replacing these or getting terrible game play because of these sub-par knock offs. Not to mention you can use PS4 controllers with the PS3, so you have an upgrade path for when PS4's are 50% off or nearly EOL :)
Good to know this!! I didn't realise. I need another PS3 controller - will buy a PS4 one as pricing is pretty much the same :)
I don't think dualshock works, but that's not a huge caveat?
Nice, I didn't know about this. Do the new PS4 controllers also work well yet with PC? I can imagine that the dualshock software would be the same if not similar? has SCP worked out a/the new drivers if so for it yet?
edit: I currently use my old PS3 controller's for PC play via the original PS3 USB power data cables and the SCP Driver Package with ePSXe.
What's the catch?
