  • Don't think this model can be configured with FPV can it

    • +2

You could setup a 5.8Ghz FPV system on this model. Not sure how flight time would be affected with extra weight added.

Edit: I should probably clarify, you could add an aftermarket FPV setup (i.e this model doesn't come with FPV out of the box).

      • would be nice if there is something out of the box, it's a far safer way to regularly inspect my roof and gutters on the 2nd/3rd level than to attempt to climb it.

If you can't answer that question yourself you should be not even considering flying fpv. Its too dangerous, too many cowboys, and ignorance like this will get it completely banned.

      • What a load of crap. He asked a simple enough question about the available configurations of a particular multi rotor model.

You have no idea what you are taking about. FPV is technically illegal in this country, but is tolerated and he laws are not enforced. Cowboys who don't know what they are doing and flaunt the rules are going to cost actual fpvers the limited freedom they have now. The instant one person gets hurt, which will happen with Cowboys, is when CASA will be forced to act and enforce the laws that exist.

          @thorton82:

I actually own and fly a number of different multi rotors (primarily an SK450 and a QAV250), all with FPV.. I would have offered a response similar to ChristianM if he hadn't beat me to it.. Rather than the entirely unnecessary rant you went off on. I have no idea what this "cowboy" rubbish is about, considering the guy simply asked if the model has an FPV option?

      • +1

@thornton82 Based on that logic I shouldn't be attempting brain surgery on my neighbour at the moment as I had to look it up on Youtube…Pfffttt

@ChristianM Thats what I thought, it could most likely be done but at what cost, its a very good price but I do want FPV :)

        • If you're new, I'd suggest learning on something like an SK450. It's half the price, tough, easy to fix and work on, and a good way to learn about multi rotors. I used one to learn with, and I've yet to break anything but props.

You would have to add a separate transmitter and either use a go pro as a camera or buy a separate dedicated one. On the controller end you will need a receiver and screen/goggles. To power the camera and transmitter you can run off the phantom power (but you will need to be handy with a soldering iron), or have a small additional battery.

  • geeze this is cheap.

      Because it's the older version.

Just an expensive high tech selfie stick.

You can take a "dronie" of yourself.

    • More like peeping tom.

  • Tempting, but I feel like the footage without a gimbal would get limiting pretty quickly… I think I'd rather pay $1100 and get the Phantom 2 and the Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal package (which they are selling for $450 by itself), more flight time and better images…

    • +1

you can get 2-axis gimbals for $60 which may be fine for some people

      • Any experience with these? I was considering setting one up on a selfie-stick just to knock a bit of shake out of some motion/tracking shots with a gopro.

        • +1

Nah I don't even have a quad or anything hah. But yeah that should work well, you'd just need a 3 cell lipo and a balance charger, they can be fairly pricey. Still cheaper than the premade versions though

Will I get a Australian tax invoice with GST listed if I buy this? Want to claim the tax back at the airport

  • $1429 for the vision2+ V3 is a good price too IMHO

  • If you're looking for some serious drone-photo inspiration (albeit with equipment costing about $80K), some of videos from the recent New Zealand trip by Devinsupertramp are worth a look.
