SpringS6P

Hi All,

Mike here from MEElectronics. It's been a while since I've been able to offer up a good deal on one of our earphones, but here's one we're doing for St. Patrick's day on our S6P Workout earphones.

Sport-Fi S6P In-Ear Headphones with mic/remote and universal sports armband: $19.99 with coupon

All of our Sport-Fi earphones are designed for active use and feature memory wire that conforms to the ear for a comfortable, secure fit, dynamic sound, and sweat resistance (backed by our 1-year warranty). The noise isolating in-ear design sits flush in the ear and works under sports helmets. The S6P model features an inline microphone, remote, and universal volume control (remote compatibility info here). It also includes a touchscreen-compatible sports armband (fits phones with screens up to about 5.1") and convenient modular cable system.

Coupon Code: SpringS6P. All prices in USD. Promotion ends on March 19th. Limit: 3 per order.

The shipping charge to Australia is a flat $6 ($8.95, but the coupon code takes another $2.95 off). Delivery times are typically between 10 and 20 business days for standard shipping. Faster shipping methods are also available.

As always, I will gladly answer any questions as best I can in the comments below. I can also be contacted by private message or by email at mike(at)s2einc(dot)com .

All questions and comments are welcome!

P.S. big thanks to everyone who has sent me PMs and emails in my absense - it's always a pleasure to see all of the interest in our products from the OzBargain community!

thanks Mike - good to see you back on here.

    • Thanks!

  • Any deal you can give for the M6 Pros? There was a deal on here last week for AU$64 delivered, but I missed out :(

    • +2

I believe that deal was through Noisy Motel, who are our official dealer in Australia. We're running on fumes in terms of inventory on the M6 PRO ourselves, but next shipment is expected in late April, so I'll try to work something out then.

  • im interested in getting another airfi matrix 2, can you do another one for $74.99 delivered? :)

  • Hi Op - are these headphones CTIA or OMPT?

Asking because would like to know if the MIC would work specifically for OnePlus One phones (not just general android handsets)

    thanks

    • CTIA (iPhone-compatible)

      • So won't work with OnePlus One phones I gather then?

        • I don't have one to test but there seems to be a lot of varying experiences so this might be a software problem, not a hardware one. See here: http://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/2owedv/oneplus_not_… . There are some people reporting using Bose QC20i and HTC M8 earphones (both CTIA) and others reporting that none of their headsets work. Someone also tried a CTIA->OMTP adapter and it didn't help.

To be safe you might just want to go Bluetooth.

        • @mikemeelec:
Thanks Mike. It's actually a hardware issue as far as I can tell from my research (crossed pins).

        • @devpress: If it's just the ground and mic pins reversed, a $3 CTIA->OMTP adapter from ebay will "fix" it back to the correct configuration.

  • Was about to buy 2 of these, 1 as a gift. But looking at the range (wireless in particular), would be interested in the others if the/a discount be applied to others.

As long as the product fulfils what it claims, this is definitely a moment where I can see myself as a repeat customer

    • At the moment the only promo we have running is for this model. The wireless sports ones are out of stock until at least the end of the month, unfortunately.

  • Hi Mike.

    • +10

      Hello!

  • Any deal on the Metro2 AF72??

    • +2

No promotions at this time but I also wouldn't personally recommend the AF72 at this point as we have a higher-end wireless in-ear coming out in April: http://www.meelec.com/Sport_Fi_X7_Wireless_Sports_In_Ear_Hea… . Better sound quality and feature set.

      • Keen on this, would you be able to do an intr price sale or something?

        • +1

An introductory discount should is doable

        • @mikemeelec: thanks, do you know when you'll have it in stock and is it possible to have it pre ordered?, real keen on this

        • @rushjohn: Send me a PM or email and I'll keep you updated :). As they are still in the final production and QC stages, I don't have a better estimate right now other than late March or April.

  • Any deal on the bluetooth/wireless headsets?

    • Will try to work something in for the Matrix2 soon, if I can. One of the reasons I've been absent from OzBargain for a while is that we've been trying to establish distribution in Australia so you guys don't have to wait 20 business days to receive our products. So I have to play nice with the pricing to help us achieve that goal.

      • Wouldn't that mean additional (reseller margin) cost in addition to preventing you from dealing directly (ie. non-compete clause) as you do on OzBargain?

With reasonable postage cost, I can't see any disadvantage to dealing directly. Don't dig your own hole, Mike.

        • All valid concerns but the international shipping we use isn't getting any faster and the cost increases every year. It's also not very reliable to countries that are not Australia, Germany, and Canada. Just trying to stay ahead of the game so we don't find ourselves pushed out of global markets :)

  • Hi Mike,

Disappointed that my A161P failed prematurely with the known cable fraying/break issue!

But what was even more disappointing is that I had to fight with your customer service dept. for any satisfaction only to be offered the inferior A151P model as a replacement!

Why didn't MEE just do a recall and resolve the cable issue with the A161P or bring out an improved/updated A161P Mark II model like you have done with your other products?

    Look forward to your response.

    • +2

I am sorry to hear that this happened - you should have been offered a painless replacement with one of our current models.

We certainly did have plans to release an updated A161P but it's a lot more complicated to update/re-design a product than you may think.

The complaints we received on the original A161P production run (and passed on down the supply chain) eventually soured relations to the point where producing another batch of the earphones - or an updated version - would have been very difficult.

Therefore, the decision was made to discontinue the A161P. We provided replacements of the same for as long as we had inventory and after that re-designed the A151P with an all-new driver for better acoustic performance and new cable hardware for better reliability. That was how the A151P Second Generation (the current model) came about, and we consider it to be on-par with the A161P in performance and superior in reliability. If you received a first-gen A151P I'd be happy to swap it out for you.

      • Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. That all makes sense.

Yes, your James finally did offer this however is it really necessary to have to cut them in pieces and photograph the remains in order to get a replacement?

Especially when they were bought directly from your online store so proof of purchase is not an issue?

        Please advise.

        • This was not necessary until we found out that some of our customers had sold their "defective" headphones on ebay prior to or after receiving a replacement, so our option was to either ask for every single unit to be shipped back for replacement or to find alternatives like this.

    • +2

In my experience Mike's customer service is amazing.

I paid for one pair of earphones and had them replaced FOUR times while they were under warranty, no questions asked. Each time was quick and painless. I have no doubt the failures were due to my use in a rough trade and gym environment but they were replaced each time regardless.

10/10, I'll continue to use and recommend MEElec.

Edit: Oh and there's an awesome upgrade program too - you can't go wrong at these prices.

  • I previously bought the Sport-Fi M6P Memory Wire after reading about its popularity on OZbargain. Unfortunately for me the earphone has never snugly fitted both my ears. I have tried all the different combinations of earbuds provided with not much luck. Even the memory wire seems to lose shape with general handling. I tried it out when i went on runs and 15-20 mins into it i was always having to stop and fiddle with my earphones. It seems like one earphone usually pops out. (Sounds quality is really good though no complaints there.) Any suggestions?

    • +1

No two ears are alike and there have been some instances where none of eartips fit, but those have been quite rare. In general, as long as you can get a seal with the eartips, you should be able to keep the earphones in place with a combination of the memory wire, shirt clip, and cable cinch (AKA cable slider). We actually updated the user manual for this model recently (probably after you received yours), and I would suggest checking it out as it has a more visual explanation than I can provide here. It's located at http://www.s2einc.com/meelec/UserManuals/Sport-Fi_UserManual…

If you are still unable to get the memory wire to keep the earphones in place, I can send you an M3P unit to see if it works better. The M3P may not have the audio performance of the M6P but it has a slightly different shape and thicker, more resilient memory wire. There have been some instances where a customer's ear shape didn't play nice with the M6/M6P but the M3P worked (and vice versa).

      • Thanks for your reply Mike, for the user manual and the offer. I'll definitely give it another go. Hopefully I can put the rubbish sounding TDK earphones away :)

        • Yeah, hope it helps!

  • Would also be interested on the air fi metro 2 if you can, thanks

  • Hi Mike, how does these compare for build-quality and sound-quality compared with the M9Ps? MY M9Ps have died after about 18 months (mostly used at gym) so I need replacements.

    • +1

The M9Ps have been through several generations. 18 months you probably had a G2 (2nd generation) with the flat cable, and I tend to think these (and the M6s) sound better. We've since released an updated back-to-basics M9 with revised sound tuning. Construction/durability is about the same, similar materials and hardware, but with the Sport-Fi sets there's some additional filters and seals for sweat resistance.

  • 'The S6P comes with a touchscreen-compatible sports armband that fits most phones and media devices with screen sizes up to 4.9"'

Any chance these can come with a bigger armband? It seems that my and my wife's Nexus 5 won't fit.

    • Actually that should say 5.1". Our company Nexus 5 fits fine with a slim TPU case (or no case).

  • Alright just bought one, came through at $35 via PayPal (Curse the current exchange rate). Anyway rep, I was wondering if you guys have an ear tip size chart? I'm prone to losing these things, but have no idea which size ear tip i lost.

    • We don't have a chart that breaks down the sizes of each eartip but what I can suggest, once you figure out what your preferred eartip shape and size is, is to take a pic of the earphones with the eartips on them. Then, if you ever need replacements, just send us the pic and we'll match the size. You can see the full set that comes with the earphones here.

  • Hi rep, i got an earphone from last deal, one of the side was gone after a short period of time … The free earphone that came with my missus phone is last 2-3 times longer than that.

Nonetheless, I shall give this another try. Thanks for the deal

    • +1

We do have a 1-yr warranty on these and all of our other earphones/headphones so if you run into any issues just shoot an email to [email protected] with your order number or account email (no full receipt needed for meelec.com purchases) and we'll replace it. Even if you're outside of the warranty period I would still suggest contacting us to see what replacement options are available. You can often upgrade to a newer or higher-end model at a discount.

      • +1

I never heard of this upgrade program.. I bought the normal M6 a few months back and just found out there's a M6 Pro. Keen on upgrading if there's a further discount! I've got 2 x M6 Pro still going strong, and I have given another one to a friend of mine who found it useful too. Great products, I'm a fan!

  • I like the sale price of your M9Ps BUT when are you guys getting more stock! :P
(My last pair didn't survive the wash RIP)

    • The gray ones are on the way, should be in stock next week.

  • How do these measure up sound wise with the sports Bluetooth models?
Obviously there is quite a price difference but is it purely for the wireless feature?

    • The current sports Bluetooth one (Sport-Fi X6) is actually based on these. It's the same driver and the sound is largely the same. There's a bit of DSP on the Bluetooth one to enhance the bass a touch but nothing major. So on those yes, the extra $20-30 is for the wireless component.

However, there's a higher-end Sport-Fi X7 set to launch in April which uses a totally new driver and supports aptX and AAC audio codecs for less lossy transmission over Bluetooth. That one sounds significantly better - clearer, more balanced, etc. We think it competes with similarly-priced wired earphones including our own higher-end models like the M-Duo and A151P.

With that one it helps to have an audio source that supports AAC (most iOS phones and tablets) or aptX (many high-end Android phones, some PC Bluetooth dongles and other devices) - otherwise you end up using standard Bluetooth audio.

  • Love the quality of these products! Any chance in the future of having a gaming type of headset? I would definitely buy one :D

    • +1

That's a tough one. We've been asked for one many times and I'd love to bring one out for our customers, but so far we've focused only on making products that we would (and do) use ourselves. This has served us well, but as none of us are serious gamers, a gaming headset would be a little out of our comfort zone.

Never say never, though, especially with the trend towards modular/extendable consumer electronics as of late ;)

  • gday Mike!

How is the sound quality of these compared to the MDuos? I bloody love those things.

    • The M-Duos are better, especially if you like a little extra bass thump. Wouldn't use them for working out though, because of the lack of sweat resistance, but glad you're enjoying the sound!

  • Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say a quick Hello! I've already bought a bucketload of different headphones from you guys, and all are going strong!
However, I've got a few birthdays coming up, and was wondering if /when you would have any sales on the M6 Pros or M-Duos?
Thanks Mike, keep up the amazing work brother!

    • Thanks so much for being a fan!

I'll be honest - the M6 PRO is challenging for the foreseeable future - ever since the release we've had trouble catching up with demand. Perhaps our dealer in Australia (Noisy Motel) can replicate the promo they ran earlier this month later on.

The M-Duo is possible - perhaps after an Air-Fi Matrix2 one that was requested higher up :).

If you need to hit a specific date with any of these just shoot me a PM or email and I'll see what I can do.

Hi, Just wondering how big is the arm band? I have purchased a few arm bands and none of them fit my arms.. makes me sad as I need my own music at gym.

    • The strap fits over arms with a circumference of approximately 10.5 inches to approximately 16 inches. If you wrap a tape measure around your arm (where the armband would be worn) you'll get a pretty good idea whether it'll fit.

      GUNS!! Bang Bang!

  • Thanks. Bought. AUD 35 with shipping - paying via Paypal.Green is sold out - so may not be that many remaining (?).

  • +1

Bought a pair of the Red/Black earlier, hoping these will be great for the gym. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Been using the m6p for a few years now, a couple of versions.
Love them so much I need a pair for every bag I use, so ordered one of these too to replace a pair with no mic I have.
    Thanks Mike & mee!

    • That's awesome to hear :)

  • I bought a pair too.

$A35…ouch that exchange rate has taken a dive :(

    • The AUD and the Euro both :/
