Just tread carefully, this ain't a HDMI to display port cable, those are much more expensive!!
Ohh this is not? What do you mean?
You can easily connect display port output on a laptop or computer to HDMI Input on a TV or monitor.
It's much more difficult to connect. A HDMI output on a laptop or PC to a display device with DISPLAY port Input
How can one tell which is meant for laptop HDMI to monitor Displayport?
Also, what is the max resolution supported for such a connection?
Are you saying the I/O it's not reversible in the same way a DVI to HDMI cable is?
Correct
Yep they are not reversible.
Folks at MSY don't know this and they sold me one with my PC with a HDMI port to connect to my display port monitor
@Cardz: Wouldn't a monitor with display port have other inputs? or if not it would be a QuadHD bohemoth where you cry trying to get HDMI to do the resolution anyway (cos it can't)… and you need to use display port?
It was a Dell something between a Full HD and a Quad HD
Stupid Dell monitors only support full HD via the HDMI
The other 2 ports was DVI and displayport.
I ended buying a HDMI (from the video card) to a DVI cable which did the trick,
I believe you're confusing DisplayPort and mini DisplayPort

Does the same thing, and you can still use the hdmi cord as a hdmi cord
any one know if this supports 1080p over two monitors ??
Could i plug the Dp into graphics card and other end into hdmi spliter going too Tv and Monitor ??
would anyone mind giving their input on how would one can output the sound from a laptop digitally once you've got the display side sorted ie. displaying on a tv, using the cable above? note: no HDMI port on the laptop
you would probably need an external sound card and plug in SPDIF (optical) to the tv from the laptop. Thats the only thing i can think of.
This is the normal price
