Officeworks have the Sony noise cancelling ear phones for $29. Looks like the same model. The model number on Harvey Norman is MDR NC13B and on Officeworks MDR NC13. Not sure if there is any difference in both the models.

What are those Sony headphones like?
They are not bad acoustically , but are a bit bulky on the ears and the battery compartment is annoying , though necessary on a noise cancelling headphone . Speaking of noise cancellation , it creates the anti-noise filtering which kinda strains my ears.
TBH I would choose a pair of Klipsch over this as I did not realise the noise cancellation benefit (found it useful once on a flight , it did drown out 50% of the engine noise as it was a repetitive noise , elsewhere not much ) .
so no good for screaming children in the seats in front, behind and along the row?
They do help, but don't expect miracle. Not even with my boss.
All ANC headphones will do that. But you will tune it out quickly and not notice it.

The NC is garbage, but the audio quality is pretty good for the $33. I get decent positional audio. There have been times when I'm watching an anime, and I find myself looking up or behind me because I think the sound was real and not from the video. My subjective opinion has it that these sound better than my Bose qc20, but make no mistake, the Bose kills it in terms of noise canceling.
I don't like the design of the ear pieces either. They're big.
The design of the battery pack is definitely better than the Bose. The Bose is a flat remote that's very low down and it just keeps falling due to bad weight balance. This one is up high, and the clip is on the battery pack unlike with the bose. The clip would have held the Bose's big battery pack in place, but it's not on that.
So overall, I'd say this compares quite favorably against the Bose in terms of design and AQ, especially when you factor in price.

The only reason I bought Bose (not boss) is for their superior anc. If someone doesnt care about nc, there is no point to get the sonys, either.
But how bad is the Sony's anc? Maybe you were just unlucky?

You're right. If not for ANC, you wouldn't buy the Bose. You pay a very high premium for them though. They're about 10x the price of these Sonys. For that price, you'd think you would have a little bit better AQ also.
Such a shame that you can't combine good AQ with ANC.
