VPN.sh - 23 Location VPN with 150GB Bandwidth for £1.50/Year

71

Looks like VPN.sh is doing their annual? offer. They also have a 500GB/year deal for £3.00 if you need a bit more bandwidth. I used it recently in China, and got decent speed (500kb/s+) from their Japanese and Australian servers, through several of their U.S servers were either down or inaccessible from my location.

I signed up to VPN a year ago (1pound for 100gb plan). Most servers bandwidth are slow. Tried to use UK server to watch BBC iPlayer and the throughput was around 50kb/s which wasnt good enough to stream without constant stuttering. I raised this with their support team but it took then literally 2 week for them to reply with "hi, is it still occurring?".. If you get this VPN, expect that its quality of service will live up to its cost. If ur serious about using a VPN service to stream dont bother with this and pay a little extra and get something better.

    • They're not all that bad… I am getting 227.81Mb/s down and 79.19 Mb/s up on one of their Australian servers :)

The average speeds I get on all VPN.sh servers is higher than the average speeds I get on PIA…

I am able to easily stream 4K youtube videos while connected to one of the Australian servers :)

      • Mbit?

Even so, what connection do you have to get 227Mbit?

        • Yes, Mbit. I am assuming fibre optics connection (using my uni's internet)

  • They're cheap & handy for websurfing, public wifi, etc. But they're not designed for torrents, video streaming, etc

One thing is to keep checking for their server lists as they often add & remove locations.

  • Just what I need. Wifey flying to China tomorrow, was going to set up Tor for her. Think I'll just get her this. Cheers OP.

  • BTW OP, which protocol did it use while you were in China? Heard that OpenVPN didn't work too well and L2TP is the way to go.

I stuck with PPTP as I wasn't doing anything sensitive, mostly watch YouTube and playing league of legends. I found l2tp and openvpn far more flaky

  • I can't find the 500GB/year deal for £3.00. anyone with a link?

  • How do I set this up?

I don't see a guide of on their website of how to implement this.

  • Is there a way to determine which setting is best, PPTP, L2TP or OpenVPN or is it simply trial and error?

    • Usually the less security there is, the better the speeds…

      Security:
      PPTP<L2TP<OpenVPN

  • Has anyone received the activation email?

    Edit: Just got it

  • I signed up with their free offer a little while back, but couldn't get my android phone to work with it, logged a support ticket, got one reply 2 weeks later after posting in the thread here again, then when I tried what they said and updated the ticket they never replied again and ignored follow up emails too. Have written them off as a waste of time, sure glad it was a freebie cos I wouldn't pay anything for their "service" (sic).

  • My experience is the same is everyone elses. Had some issues, rasied a support ticket to get a 1 line answer 2 weeks later. Replied to that ticket and received nothing back. Rasied another ticket which still hasn't been responded too, this must be at least 3 month. I'd avoid these guys.

    • This sounds odd - please email me on [email protected] and I'll look into this for you.

      • Nah. I emailed you directly and got nothing. Was a waste of my time and money, you are very good at offering help on public forums but for paying customers it takes genarally 2 weeks for a response. I just want any of your future customers to be aware of what they are paying for.

  • The 1tb deal i got last year was a complete disaster, they made me change companies and since then its been inactive because i wasn't able to use it. I wouldn't recommend.

    • Please try using our latest OpenVPN files, or use the latest server information from the knowledgebase in our client area. The service has undergone some server changes which could be the cause for the issues you've seen.

  • My last subscription was working fine for some time but tried logging in today and it states wrong username and password (I haven't changed any settings and i've triple checked the username/pw)

    • Open up a support ticket at http://www.vpn.sh/clients and we'll get this looked into for you.
