Acer CB280HK 4K 28" Monitor - $499 (Click and Collect) at OfficeWorks

150

Hi all, this is my first deal, hopefully I've gotten everything right.

So the deal is for the Acer 28" 4k monitor at OfficeWorks.
Runs 3840x2160@60hz with Display Port. Comes with a range of connections: DVI, HDMI, Display Port, Mini DP and audio input. It's height, tilt, rotate adjustable.

Best price I've seen on a monitor of this quality.

FYI your capital A in Acer breaks the link, small a works:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/acer-cb280hk-…

Spec sheet: (Its a TN panel)

    • Oh I'm sorry!! Thank you so much for fixing that for me.

Also, I feel like the ergonomics of the stand, pivot, rotate, etc., should mostly allow users to adapt to the disadvantages of viewing angles from the TN screen.

    • Average perhaps, though they were all pretty honest…

These people knew what they wanted of the monitor at the price point was unreasonable, but they bought it anyway. And then they gave reviews basically saying, "We got what we paid for, and what we knew we would realistically get, but then we gave it crap ratings anyway".

      $500 28" 4k high performance gaming monitor?

Given that you'd probably be spending more than this on the GPU alone to drive a 4K at decent resolutions for gaming, stinging on the actual display is pretty silly…

      • Yeah exactly. Very succinctly said.

Personally I'm planning on running it at 2560x1440 for the moment. My graphics card could support higher, but there's no good reason to tax my rig, considering limited 4k material out there at the moment.

        • Why not just buy a 2560x1440p monitor in the first place, the yamakasi 27" ones were still up on ebay for ~$400 when I last looked, been using one of those for years.

        • @DisasterArea: Well I'm yet to find a decent 2k monitor for my price limit. And also, this monitor helps future proof my setup. Buy the best you can at the time.
And furthermore, these Acer monitors come with a 3yr warranty, as opposed to 1yr warranty with Yamakasi

        • @Rail Rider95:
          Not sure I understand//// what's 2K? - 2560x1440 is 3.7K

        • @DisasterArea:
          And 3840 x 2160 is "8.3k" by that logic….

If anything "2k" is 1920x1080. No one used that until "4k" came along. Both are silly. It's the horizontal resolution they are using. It's still a rather unhelpful way of specifying something and is marketing as much as anything….

        • @Shonky:

True. I hadn't realised! - 8m pixels, wow, yes, you need a good GPU to push that, QHD runs well with GTX680 / wouldn't want bigger personally, pixel density is fine.
