Grabbed some Klipsh Image S3 headphones for $49 delivered. Cheers OP.

it's up to 15% discount on computers. not 30%. plz update it

    • +5

Check prices m8, they might say 15% off but some are up to 30% off :) An example is the Toshiba one in my post, is now $678 Was $998

      • Thats 32% off.

        • Yep but 30 is a nice round figure :0

        • @TRENT86: Went into one JB and found the actual ticket price for this model is $798,so 15% off comes downs to $678.30.Online price $998 is way exaggerated.

        • @Neoika: I did check other store prices before hand like binglee and it's $998 there, anyways still a great price :)

  • :( I wished TabPro 10.1 would go on sale again… I might have to wait till MWC or even further :'(

    • Yeah that was a nice price but to be honest it still is

      • True, it's still a decent price. It's just that the rumours I hear of the new Tab S line and the new Tab A and A Plus line is making me bit eiffy about TabPro 10.1 (But then again, this happens every single year). $350 would be a sweet spot though.

Is it really up to 30% off computers?

    This says 15%

nooooooo - where is the 20% of Blu Rays!!
Good sale though - if only the missus would let me get those Dali speakers …..

    • +3

The 20% off bluray and dvd sale will happen on a weekend during mid March. :)

  • Good sale but hoping for 20% off blurays and tvs… Don't think that will happen :(

  • I ordered the H751 soundbar yesterday for $650 :(

    • Can you cancel?

    • +2

Try and cancel your order. CPA member benefits - members and "family & friends" can get the H751 also with JB for $475 currently.

    • Their returns policy means you can cancel and order again. Call and they may just refund you the difference.

      • +5

I went in and explained and they simply refunded me the difference :)

        • Most JBs are good like that. Once you're spending over $500 they'll price match most competitors and sales to keep your business.

  • Anyone know a good deal on macbook pro's?

A used macbook pro is better quality and performance than any windows laptop or PC?

I dont know quite what to say to that.

      • Thanks pizza guy, i'm looking for new, but appreciate your comment and understand totaly what you mean.

Besides our TV Chromecast is probably the most used pieced of AV equipment in our house. Best 40 odd bucks I've ever spent.

  • Can anyone tell me if this is a good time to buy a Samsung sound bar? We want one for our 50" LED that is wall mounted - and that uses the wireless connection so we don't have to worry about the cord.

  • Anyone know how to shop for a good audio system?

I'm eyeing those Onkyo receivers and speakers and the wharfdale or dali speakers, but I'm not even sure how to tell they are compatible (something about watts and ohms?) or where to find good reviews of each.

My budget would be under 2 grand all up…

    • +1

Have a look at What Hifi as a start for reviews, pretty much my go to place - http://www.whathifi.com/

I've got Dali Concept speakers, they started out being driven by a Panasonic SA-XR55 amp, and then onto my Pioneer VSX923, sound awesome on both. They go very loud and clear at about half volume level on the Pioneer. The Zensor range replaced the Concept a year or so ago, from memory when What Hifi reviewed both Dali series' they gave them 5/5 stars.

Haven't been the biggest fan of Wharfedale, but let your ears decide.

      • Awesome, thanks.

        • +3

Go for the Onkyo 636 receiver, it's a great price. As for speakers, you're probably better of avoiding JB-HiFi because their brands are a little more retail-generic. You can get a much wider, high performing slection from specialist stores and if you shop online, often at cheaper prices.

Also, don't be tricked in to buying an all in one package. If you're serious about your audio it is DEFINITELY and always worth buying high quality components as you can afford them. So, for example, instead of spending $800 on some good 5.1 speakers, spend $500 on some GREAT bookshelf speakers, and buy the matching centre/surrounds/towers as you can afford them (in that order). Also, it's very worthwhile spending money on a good subwoofer when the time comes, it makes a huge difference. The brand of your speakers should all match, but the subwoofer doesn't need to be the same. (IMO, SVS is a great brand to look at.)

    Logitech M950 mouse for $79 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/accessories/logi…)

Pricematch Officeworks for extra 5% off. Combine with Citibank/ING/MeBank for even more savings.

    • It's not as great as advertised. Works pretty poor on my wooden dining table (((
The $10 optic finger mouse from ebay works MUCH better and fits my dining place perfectly )

      added:
Can sell it (M950) for $50 in Brisbane.

      • Too bad I'm over in Perth!

If I did get one, I'd still use a mouse pad so that I don't scratch the hell out of my desk.

  • I'm looking for a decent laptop with a 1080p screen (14"+). I can't find one. Any located anything good?

  • Cheers OP!

  • Anyone have any recommendations on a decent receiver?

Harman Kardon HKAVR151 - $383 looks like a decent price but can't find many reviews. Makes me think there aren't many out there and there's probably a reason for it.

    • It is the same in this package: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/home-theatre…

I have it, not too bad. Very nice bass and mid, perhaps Pioneer etc has more treble (and perceived clarity). I think it is pretty good for movies as dialogues are pretty clear. I would say kinda balanced natural sound, similar to what you hear in a theater.

Many say it is slightly under powered (75W per channel) compared to competition, but plenty enough for me!

Look here for some of the best receivers:
      http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-receiver/

Lot of good reviews for Yamaha, but JB Hi-Fi doesn't sell them any more.

      • This is not quite correct.

Wattage is not always an accurate gauge to the quality/power of a speaker, for example, look at Klishp, they run a lower wattage to their competitors however they are a more efficient speaker and therefore are rated better than most of their competitors.

Same goes for the JBL speakers combined with the H/K amp, they have better energy efficacy than the energy hungry Pioneer system, their quality is either on par or slightly superior depending on your ear (the true verdict of opinion). So don't let wattage get in the way of what your ear likes, for a mid range system this is more than fine and the sub-woofer is substantial, don't forget performance also has to do with tuning your setup, your results will be much more superior once you've tuned it correctly.

  • What will Chromecast give me that the YouTube app won't give me on my smart TV?

    • +1

Cast your phone and cast your browser (any OS, Chrome)?

    • With chromecast you can use your phone to look up videos on youtube. Your phone and anybody else who happens to be on the same wifi network… Much easier than using the tv remote

I also cast my entire media collection( can play any file format)on my network to any tv in the House

      • The YouTube app present on most smart TV's already supports 'casting'. And most TV's which have the YouTube app will also have a built-in DLNA client which takes care of media streaming needs.

      • Maybe with a transcoding server your Chromecast can play (almost) any file format. Otherwise, no.

        • Can one use Chromecast to watch foxtel on TV using foxtel go on my phone? Has anyone done so?

        • @cisco:
Chrome cast usually restricts apps like foxtel, I know they block the afl app

  • Just happen to read this post during my work shift.
Very tempted on Klipsch R-10B soundbar as I read many good reviews about it, particularly from Amazon.
I know it's pretty easy to connect to TV. Does anyone know if it is easy/ possible to hook up to desktop PC?

Dali speakers are tempting. 4 weeks away from completing a house build and have been on a lookout for speaker specials.

    Reviews seem positive: http://www.dali-speakers.com/en-US/News/Reviews-Awards.aspx

When I search through the AVS forums, it seems Dali speakers have received a fair amount of positive feedback
    http://www.avsforum.com/

    40% off a 5.1 Zensor 1, Zensor Vocal (center), Zensor 5 (floorstandings), and Zensor E12-F 12" subs, that's
    $2,053.20 instead of $3,422.00.

Just sent an email to the missus, to see if she approves.

Do their studio monitors ever go on sale. I got excited because I'm looking at the JBLs, but they aren't included?

  • thanks Op got Sony STRDN850 receiver, will now hunt for speakers had my heart set on B&W 685 S2 but JB don't sell them :(

    • Check out Amazon US for speakers. Way cheaper than in Australia, especially JBL. Stay away from subwoofers, though. They are all 110V. But you can buy a JBL subwoofer from Amazon Germany for $600 delivered. Still way cheaper than in Australia.

  • how come i cant find single review on asus F550WA on google… not even on asus website~
    help?

Awesome, $270 off the Samsung HT-H7750WM 7.1 Home Theatre System and when I logged in through my company's corporate login the price is a further $70 cheaper.

    RRP $896, purchased for $560.

Cheers for the heads up op :)

    • How is the system, I have just got back into projectors, haven't a big area and my old speakers amp so big don't suit room. Always preferred component but can't have wire running across floor.. so the wireless rears are a selling point… used to have a nice THX system in the day with Laserdisc.. but divorce took all my goodies.. so budget now have a w1070 Benq 120" screen ..

  • Any suggestions for which of the $338 laptops would be best? For uni mostly, with web browsing and the odd youtube/movie stream.

    Asus X551MAV-SX391B 15"
    Asus X452EA-BING-VX078B 14"
    Dell Inspiron X510000AU 15.6"
    HP 15-R110TU 15.6" Notebook (Black)
    Asus X551MAV-SX391B 15" Notebook

Or spend a bit more and get:

    HP 15-G002AU 15.6" Notebook ($380)
    Acer E5-511-280C 15.6" Notebook ($380)

  • The specs in the $678 toshiba laptop are pretty good for the price

    • which one? amongst all, range $6-7-800, i need one with the best graphic card

      • Think he is talking about the one in post

        • Yep l50 b02

        • @Sjfilly: thanks. i saw that too. hmmm 8gb sound like future proof for another 10 years? :D

        • -1

@erwinsie: There is no such thing as future proof ;) If you think about it, we were fine with 512mb RAM in 2005 (at least from CoD II's recommended spec, 512mb seems reasonably decent).

    • cpu says 5200U, but the specs like 4210u, no idea

  • +1

Still no 15.6" FHD laptops under a grand :(

  • The samsung sound bar h450, so tempting!!!!

  • Do the percentage discounts extend to headphones, namely gaming headphones? Do JB ever put them for sale?

    • Nah doesn't apply to headphones, and yeah you hardly ever see gaming on special

  • Are the JBL Flip II bluetooth speakers any good?

    • +1

They are good but during this sale for an extra $8 ($111 vs $119) I'd get the Sony SRS-X3 which sounds better.

      • Hey bender, any recommendations in the $200 range from this lot?

        • Well I'm tempted by the JBL Charge 2. Nice price.

I've already got a TDK A33 that I just replaced the battery in, so I can't justify the purchase.

        • @doze: I've been checking out the x3 reviews, seems very good value at that price

        • +1

I agree with doze, in the up to $200 range the JBL Charge 2 is what I'd buy.
It has a big battery and tight bass with very good loudness and the highs are still nice also.

  • +2

The digital radios aren't 40% off. They all seem around the 30% off mark.

    • also does not include internet capable digital radio

  • Has anyone bought the Toshiba lappy? Keen to hear a user review. Seems to be good value considering the specs, so there must be a catch…

    • +1

Very similar to this model, same price,no DVD.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/180105

      L50-B02R has DVD.

      • Cheers! Was wondering if the Gen 5 chip gives a noticeable boost to the battery life?

The other question is: I was hoping to get a model with an SSD, so I'll probably replace the 1tb HDD myself. Is it easy to reinstall Win 8.1 if I do that? (i.e. is the OEM licence locked to the particular hardware configuration that the manufacturer provides and will it refuse to validate with a new setup?)

  • Anyone know when their next 20% off Bluray sale might be? Am hoping before the end of MArch as I have some HBO titles to buy and would like to stack discounts :)

  • Merged from JB Hi-Fi - 25% off Bluetooth Speakers - JBL, TDK, Marley, Jabra, Sony, Philips and Klipsch

Was in today looking about and noticed this sale, it's part of a larger one but I thought It worth posting here just detailing the Bluetooth speaker link. Actually found myself at a bit of a loss of deciding what to buy so haven't actually grabbed the 'bargain' as yet.

    • Silly me for missing the larger thread, any opinions on the speakers up for grabs. Crappy environment for listening to them and the rep was trying to push the Bose on me.

Not wanting to break $200 really and happy to be around 150 if the quality doesn't plunge too much.

      • All I know is the Bose Soundlink mini is the best portable speaker on the market. The only downside is that it can only connect to one device at a time.

Before I stretched to the Bose I remember after many days of testing the JBL Flip and Charge sounded very good as I like crisp middle/top end with clean bass. Speakers can be subjective and I always used my iPhone to test using the same song that I know and tests speakers very well.

  • JBL Charge 2 is very good, but try to get a price match with DWI, which sells it for $150.

  • Thanks Trent, bought my Mrs the Toshiba Satellite L50-B02R 15.6" 8GB Intel i5 Notebook $678… which are now back up to $998 at least at JB.

  • +1

anyone know if the 60 inch sharp TV is decent. What's it like compared to a 60 inch Sony or Samsung
