15W Dimmable CFL Bulb E27 $1.99 @ IKEA

140

Ikea will sell only LED bulbs from 2016 so they're clearing the CFL bulbs. Personally I find CFLs just fine, LEDs are only about 20% more efficient but much more expensive.

Spotted at Ikea Tempe, NSW. Possibly in other stores too. They are dimmable!

  • Is this ONLY the E32 with screw base or do they have others like the bayonettes and smaller screw ones? My parents could do with a bulb refresh but they are stuck in their ways and can't see the sense in buying "expensive" bulbs over cheap conventional bulbs.

    • E32

      7 Series?

      • LOL I meant E27, no idea why I typed E32… typical brain fart moment.

          If they have E46 M3's for $1.99 I'm in.

      • That would be nearly vintage wouldn't it.

    • Ikea never sell bayonette type. They do have E14 but didn't see them on sale.

  • Same at Ikea Springvale. Only E27 one, and only 15W one. They only sell that model in pic as far as I could see

  • I'm of the mindset that I'm stuck with buying bayonet globes just because I have bayonet ceiling adapters.

Yet it seems that threaded globes are cheaper. Does anyone know if both ceiling adapter types are interchangeable?

  • "warm-up time up to 60% of the full light output 80 sec". Umm, no thanks.

Guess you are not aware that all CFLs require a warm up time then.

Some take much longer than others though.
60% after 80 seconds sounds pretty slow. Not wanting a slow to warm up CFL is hardly a reason to neg the guy.

      • c0balt, technically yes but there's some that appear to be full brighness immediately (or so close you can't tell the difference) such as GE which I've been using for the last few years. Personnaly I can't stand the slow warm up types, so sue me.

CFLs suck compared to good LEDs and Halogen for light quality and time-to-full-brightness.

Plus, there's the risk of mercury leakage - especially if you drop and break them.

  • time to reach a new peak in my bulb mountain

  • Some of my Halogens and LEDs kept blowing up after a few months or so. Just changed in kitchen (with GU10 to E27 adapter) from 3 GU10s 12W LEDs to one 20W CFL and WOW, I think I use to be living in the dark. Now I'm not convinced the LEDs have been more efficient. Its sooo bright now.
