  • Bargain! Was after a spare - thanks!

  • Thanks never know when l might throw and break the tv remote.

  • Pity these remotes look like something from a communal TV in a nursing home.

    • They aren't the best looking. But if you have an LG, you have this, the space-age one, or just a universal I guess. $10 is a great bargain if you want a new one or a spare, imo.

By the way, I placed an order 15 minutes ago, and I just got a call from TGG and the remote is ready to be picked up!

    • It's a well balanced remote, when held in the hand. Choice recommended it for people with sight difficulties & ease of finding regularly used buttons. So would be ideal for nursing home use ;-)

      • I bought this recently for $15 to replace the remote from a circa 2006 32" lcd. I don't think it's at all easy to use. It works though, whereas our old remote didn't really work at all anymore.

It's a great remote. I now got my second LG TV but it only comes with a 'smart remote' which isn't that smart under many situations so I kinda miss the traditional remote that comes with my 1st one. Thank you for this excellent bargain.

    • Agreed. So Ive been using the Quick remote on my G2

  • I have been using the apk "anymote - smart remote" from my android phone (Samsung S4 & now LG G3) to control my TVs when I need to. I like it this way better. I tried the default ones by Samsung & LG but did not like them as much as the smart control apk.

Picked on up at JBHiFi a week or so ago for $10.

The wheel on the Magic remote was doing my head in

  • Some mobile phones and tablets have an ir blaster (infrared) adapter built in so if you have one you can download a free app as a backup. I have a galaxy note 2 and a couple of Samsung tablets and they all have one.

  • Its been $10 since it arrived in store , maybe the dollar will push it up a few bucks

  • Do I really need a backup remote!!?!??

  • Many thanks OP. Got the last one in stock today for $9.50 from GG @ Lutwyche, Brisbane.(They're about $40 on eBay) Didn't really need it, but, since remotes aren't usually covered by warranty, I now have a very cheap spare. Layout of buttons has some very minor differences from original, but the most frequently used are same. (maybe LG has changed layout of their remotes since I got my TV ) Thanks again!!!

    • Remotes are covered under warranty - for faults, as usual not for damage.

As I posted in other deal, remote was replaced by LG under warranty simply after a call. The ON button was failing to work. They posted it out in days. Easy.

We have 4 remotes for 2 TVs, including the faulty one which just takes a few presses to work on 1 button - only needed to turn off. Didn't need to pay extra for remotes.

Buttons generally have minor change with model & features. Main buttons seem to have remained in same positions.

LG replaced a tv under warranty (with free upgrade) due to a rattle they couldn't fix. I'm quite impressed by LG service :-)

      • Good to hear bruce. There seem to be some mixed messages about warranty on remotes. My Yammy Receiver's remote started playing up when still under warranty. Yamaha advised that it wasn't covered. Although I didn't agree, it was easier (and cheap) to pick one up on ebay, rather than enter into a possibly protracted dispute with Yamaha. My LG tv is outside it's 1 yr warranty, and I anticipate the very real possibility of "issues" with a statutory rights warranty claim on a 3yr old remote. Therefore, @ $9.50, I believe it's easier to just get a spare, thus avoiding the hassle & downtime waiting for a replacement should mine die. My wife's happy too, she now has her own (new) remote! I get to use the old one, when I get her permission, of course.

  • Bought one of these for my parents' LG smart TV (with webOS)…after hearing a bit too much swearing from the living room emanating from their struggles to use the smart TV 'wiimote'. Thanks OP!
