    Shark week begins!

  • I got this vacuum from the TV ad people for $490 delivered with some extra accessories, car kit, free steam mop, extended warranty and 60 day trial.

Vacuum works very well, particularly for carpets.

    • shark attack :(

people seem to think they are pretty good…

the claimed repairman's verdict isn't very well supported by the thread

      • True, but someone working customer service at a place that sold them confirmed that there was a large amount of returns on Shark vacuums.

If you call the TV Shop and get it delivered to you on a $20 trial, close to when your trial expires, call them back and say you want to send it back to them as it's too expensive. I talked them down to $340 with all of the accessories.

  • this deal was about $400 only at Hardly Normal before Xmas i remember? had the free steam mop too I think….

I've seen the Dyson DC25 for around this price on sale.

Why would you buy this over a Dyson?

    • Need to be careful with vacuum cleaner reviews… They tend to suck good at the start, but over time as filters fill up and the motor ages / gets worked… things can die.. The reviews from people who have just taken the product out of the box and used it once can be disregarded…

That said I have a samsung too (SC4790) and it hasn't skipped a beat (6+ months of use). If you go for a cheaper vacuum it can be worth getting the extended warranty, especially if you live in a share house, and your housemates don't do a great job of cleaning filters and the motor craps out on you :)
