Friend's sister met her husband on there and have a couple of sproglets too

    • Eh it works for many people.

Whether you want to use a site you pay when there's free alternatives is another question though.

      • it weeds out the ones that arent serious though. So the fee does work to some extent.

        • Yes, although if you have an OzB mindset you might be more likely to meet a similar minded person on the free ones ;-)

  • only 5 people around me hahahahahaha

  • Just a warning if you ever do sign up make sure to go into your account to uncheck the auto renew button as they are not willing to give you a refund even if it is on the same day the money was taken out. This has happened to many people have been caught into paying even after they dont need the service anymore.

    • You don't even need to give in your credit card number so they can' teen take out money.

  • The free ones get a lower quality clientele, pay for a posher shag

    • so they just give you access to the bargain bin?

      • Hmmm, so by inference are OzB'ers lower quality because we prefer to pay less? Maybe pay less/free = intelligent and not swayed by the marketing and perceived pricetag = quality ;-) Also might end up with a gold digger if you pay more ;-)

eHarmony founder is an "interesting" character: "I have said that eHarmony really ought to put up $10 million and ask other companies to put up money and do a really first class job of figuring out homosexuality."

    Very bad experience with eharmony.

As soon as I joined the email address I used got slammed with spam, and direct emails that bypassed the spam filter eg I saw your info, want to communicate directly I suspect either they onsold my info or their site is not secure and my info was stolen.
When I raised this as an issue with customer service I got a form email of 'we don't guarantee matches,….'

Which brings me to the other problem with eharmony - they consider that Melbourne and Brisbane are local matches.

The only way I stopped the recurring direct debit was to put an overseas block on my credit card since the site is run out of the U.S. And since they use the number of existing members to bring in new members, I changed my profile location description to Iraq.

      • You're thinking Ashley Madison ;-)

  • I would love to try out eHarmony… But unfortunately they don't allow gay guys to use it; we have to have our own "special" site, away from all the "normal" people…
