  • Op, I can't find this deal (For me it is USD75), Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihombashi-Ningyocho was USD85 now USD51, could you provide a link ?

    • The rates will depend on the dates, what dates did you check?

  • +2

Just another Agoda affiliate. Nothing special at all. More like a spam. No deal.

    • Agoda only became big in Japan because of our web site and the thousands of people who booked via GoJapanGo.com and formally JapaneseLifestyle.com.au. For years we were the top position in Google (USA searches and Australia) for Tokyo hotels.

These are distinct specials and not the normal discount offers.

  • +1

no bargains to be had here

    • You can find these hotels cheaper?

  • +2

OP's name speaks for the deal itself. :)

    • Yes, it was an unfortunate choice I made many months ago. I didn't think I would have to use the same user name for listing when associated as distinct from just a normal user.

  • +1

Why is this in US dollars?

Shouldn't it be in yen or AU dollars?

    • The specials are fixed to the USD for a period. Most people outside of Japan don't like working out hotel/tours in Yen and everyone knows their currency's exchange rate to the USD.

For us in Australia it would be handy if it was fixed to the Australian dollar, but the Australian dollar is just too volatile.

  • For those who do not need the full services of an hotel, an AirBNB apartment would be a better bargain.

Not a deal, seems Booking.com is even cheaper

    • Specific examples? (hotel and dates)

I am not seeing any that are.

  • I wouldn't trust them - this rep doesn't even know how to use dollar signs.

    • Sorry, where do you get that from?

The normal terms used in foreign exchange markets are USD and AUD, not US$ and A$. The problem with using "A$" is the term isn't a standard and can be confused with other currencies.

      • Well we're not a foreign exchange market, and you still include a $ before the numeral.

        • By your logic it would be like an ATM machine, Automatic Teller Machine machine.

USD$ would be United States Dollar Dollar.

You are criticizing me for using the standard and want me not to use the correct standard.

Did you not understand what USD was?

I doubt it, so I think you are missing the point. People should use the correct standard where possible as it minimizes the chances of a misunderstanding.

Are you also campaigning for people to use MBps for internet connection speeds?

        • @not a bargain:

USD$ would be United States Dollar Dollar.

          WE DON'T USE THAT.

          AU$ and US$

This is what most of us use.

        • @not a bargain:

USD$ would be United States Dollar Dollar.

I never told you to write "USD$". As for the rest of your post, you've just demonstrated why we should steer clear from this deal.

      • The normal terms used in foreign exchange markets are USD and AUD, not US$ and A$.

OzBargain is not a Foreign Exchange Market. We normally use US$ and AU$.

  • US$65 per night for a single guest and US$85 for two guests. Plus a once off US$30 Cleaning/Restocking Fee.

No hotel services, but more space than the usual Tokyo hotel room, and you get personal concierge services from the host - plus some free drinks, tea, coffee, and snacks.

    • I'm stayed in Tokyo before Christmas ¥15000/wk single weekly basis. Air conditioned (with heating) room with double western style bed + desk in apartment with kitchen etc. Included breakfast at neighbouring Inn (cereal, juice) with coffee, tea all day, unlimited free fast WiFi in room.

French Manager spoke English. 10 minute walk to 3 train lines. Minutes to supermarkets. One had TimTams for $2.75!

Large room for Japan, about 5x3m. Clean, but no cleaning fee. Room was only cleaned on departure, but vacuum etc was provided.

Totally enjoyed it, comfy but certainly not opulent. A good base to explore from. But few rooms are usually available. I was there in quiet time.

Yen has got slightly more expensive now. Was then au$150/wk, now $162. Nightly rate was about au$35 then.

Many deals like that around North Asakusa area at Inns. Cheaper for longer bookings.
