  • LOL $270 Value. Oil filter $10, $40 in oil and $10 is flush. They buy in bulk/wholesale so its even cheaper

    • Your estimates are already ABOVE their sale price.

      • Their $270 estimate is extreme but at $53 it's a bargain

I'm actually not convinced it's legit.
Purely because the stock prices almost add up to the cost.

At rough 'Trade' prices from a large auto supplier:
$6 Wynns engine flush treatment (normally $15)
    $25 Valvolene Oil (Normally $45)
    $8 oil filter (Normally $16)
$5 Top-up of all fluid levels (I'm assuming Brake\Clutch, Power Steer, coolant)
$2 Windscreen washer additive (Normally $5)
$2 Replacement of wiper blades (Normally $10)

$48….. Leaving $5 for at least the hour, more like two, that the rest of that test would take…. Writing up a valid safety report, and doing things like pressure tests take AGES, also 'inspecting fuel lines' can require dropping the tank in a lot of cars (but I suppose he means the 5 inches from the hard line to the fuel rail….)

Steering and suspension check takes at least a hoist and 15 minutes and at most, a laser guide.

Even at half price oil, that's still only $17 profit, which is close to minimum wage for the worker too!!

    Can't operate a business at a loss.

I'd be worried they'd try the old "We'll hold your car, its unsafe" until you pay the hundreds of OTHER repairs they find. They can't do this, but lots try.

    • They might just be trying to get some new people into their business for cost price? usually when someone goes to a merchanic they go back to the same one if it was a good experience?

Don't like the idea of a cheap car service. If you want to save money, do the service yourself.

    • Doubt you could do the above service for the same price yourself unless you have a good trade discount somewhere?

I'm sure they will only sell a certain amount at this price then try and get you to fork over more cash for other "repairs"

      To copy-paste myself above;

don't be fooled .. their service is not good at all … I had a pretty bad experience.

Don't get sucked in to this. You know the saying if it's too good to be true…

I've worked my life in the auto trade to know how dealers/workshops operate and not even for my mates will I service their car for 50 bucks. It is simply not possible and not worth my time.

Lets not even mention the surcharge in the fine print. Upgrades to proper weight or type of oil. Unless you're comfortable putting cheap 15-40 in a modern day motor that typically specifies high quality, low ash oil which is often 3-5 times the cost per litre compared to the cheap basic non-synthetic stuff.

All repair shops operate the same and there is no free lunch. These guys are just trying to suck you in.
